The Unwanted Mate

Chapter 54

Chapter 54

"A-Are you okay?" Rain asked while panting heavily. He ran out to see Calvin as soon as he heard the warriors were back.

"I'm fine, " The beta rolled his eyes.

"But-But there's blood on your s-shirt…"

"I told you I'm okay, " Calvin rubbed his temples irritated, making his mate flinch a little.

"Josh, are you hurt? " The omega turned to Josh when he saw him.

Calvin looked up to see Rain looking at Josh worriedly. He gritted his teeth at the sight.

"I'm fine, " Josh smiled at the omega.

"But your hand is bleeding. You need to wrap it before you lose so much blood. I can do—"

"No need," Calvin interrupted immediately. "The nurses will take care of him, "

Rain frowned. "But he needs—"

"If you go with him, then who's going to take care of my wounds? " The beta raised a brow, surprising his mate.

"You-Yours?" Rain asked, clearly flustered. "You w-want me to do i-it?"

"Do you have any problem with that? " The beta frowned as he questioned.

Rain instantly shook his head.

"I'll do it, " He meekly replied.

"Then let's go, " Calvin told him before he turned to walk away.

The omega looked at Josh apologetically. "I-I have to go… " He said in a low voice. It was obvious that he felt bad for leaving Josh like this but he didn't want to make Calvin angry. It was the first the beta agreed to let him do something for him.

Josh sighed and mustered up a small smile. "It's okay, " He ruffled the boy's hair. "You should take care of your mate before you worry about anyone else. Go help Calvin. I'll be alright, " He smiled.

"Thank you for understanding," Rain returned the smile before hurriedly following his mate to the packhouse.

Rain cared about Josh.

He used to like him too…

But at the end of the day, Josh isn't his mate…

It's Calvin.

And the omega loved Calvin.

Because he's who the moon goddess has paired him with.

"Alpha, the lady is inside, " A warrior informed as Evelyn and Keiran reached the guest house.

Keiran nodded before walking up to open the door. His mate's grip on his hand tightened as he moved forward.

The alpha looked down at the nervous omega. "Don't worry, " He smiled at Evelyn. "We will be alright, " He gently placed a kiss on the girl's head.

It helped the omega to relax a little. She gave the alpha a small smile.

"Let's go in, " Keiran said before he opened the door.

An old lady immediately stood up from her seat as soon she saw them both entering the room.

Evelyn was surprised. She doesn't remember seeing this lady anywhere. So how does she know her?

The omega took in her appearance. Even though the lady was fairly old, her hair was midnight black. She looked healthy and in good shape. There was a powerful aura surrounding the woman.

"Oh my god, Evelyn! " The lady gasped as she took a few steps towards the omega. "You've grown so much..!" She exclaimed, teary eyed.

"Do-Do I know you? " Evelyn couldn't help but look at her quizzically.

The woman froze, a little taken aback before she sighed. "Oh right, it's been so long. You might not remember me now, " She chuckled lightly.

Her words and expressions were so warm and unthreatening that it made the omega relax a bit.

"I was there when you were born. Your mother… She was a good friend of mine… "

The omega's eyes grew wide. "M-Mother? "

"Yes, dear, " The lady looked at her sympathetically. "My name is Niya. I'm a witch. Your mother and I grew up together, " She smiled. "You look exactly like her, "

Evelyn smiled at the words while tears started to stream down her cheeks. "What-What's her name? " The omega's voice trembled as she talked.

"Amber, " Niya smiled. "Her name was Amber, "

Evelyn smiled. "That's a beautiful name,"

Keiran wrapped his arms around the crying girl and placed a kiss on her head to soothe her.

"W-Why wasn't she w-with me?" Evelyn's voice cracked as she questioned. "Didn't she like me? "

"Oh no, dear, " Niya walked up to the trembling omega. "She treasured you more than her life, " The witch smiled sadly.

"It was for your safety. She did it for you, "

"W-What? "

Niya took a deep breath. "Your mother… She was a forest spirit. She was beautiful and kind and...extremely powerful. Your mother had earth and water powers. It was rare for forest spirits to be born with both powers and quickly, she became popular for her abilities. All the shifters and vampires lined up to marry her because of that, " Niya sighed.

"But your mother rejected them all. She knew that they all wanted her only because of her powers. That's when she met your father, he claimed that she was his mate. It was true, they were made for each other, " The witch smiled softly.

"Killian loved your mother dearly. He took care of her like a princess. But things went downhill when you were born. Your father's pack was attacked and he couldn't protect most of them because the attack was unexpected and well planned," She looked down.

" They wanted you because they knew how powerful you could be. You have the genes of two powerful people in you. And at last, your mother and father separated because they wanted to protect you… Killian joined a small pack and led a normal life so no one would come after him...but in the end… "

Evelyn broke down, no longer having the strength to listen to anything more.

Keiran immediately took the omega in his hands and turned to face the worried Niya.

"Sorry, so much happened today. She must be exhausted. We'll talk about this matter tomorrow, " The alpha said, hugging his mate close.

Niya nodded. "I understand, " She gave him a small smile. "Please take care of her, "

Keiran hummed in reply. "You can stay here as long as you want. I'll arrange for your room, " He said before walking out while carrying the omega in his hands.

Niya took a deep breath as she looked at the two of them.

She just hoped that they both could overcome what Evelyn's parents couldn't.
