The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 831: Not So Dishonorable as to Go Back on One’s Word

Chapter 831: Not So Dishonorable as to Go Back on One’s Word

Audrick Zachmann was quite excited as well, hurriedly putting down his cup of tea to join Alfred Garland in stepping forward.

Nathalie Quinlan came downstairs in a flash, pulled the brim of her hat down, her eyes intensely restless, and her voice husky from just having bathed, "No need, I’m stepping out for a bit."

Amadeus Yancey was still on the phone with Sadam Vinson. Seeing her coming downstairs, he didn’t bother with the person who was still talking non-stop on the phone, abruptly cut off the call, shamelessly set the phone down, and looked up. His deep eyes darkened, and he didn’t take his gaze off Nathalie Quinlan, "Where are you going?"

"Yeah, Nathalie, where are you heading to at this hour?" Audrick Zachmann echoed from the side.

With her hands in her pockets, Nathalie still exuded an air of rakish rebellion, achingly cool with no friends in sight. She gave Audrick Zachmann a beautiful glance with her dark eyes and said, "Aunt Cagwin’s house."

"I promised to have dinner there, she’s stewing a hen waiting for me at home."

Audrick Zachmann: "...Aunt Cagwin, huh."

It wasn’t a surprise for him to hear about Aunt Cagwin.

Nathalie showed a maturity beyond her years with everyone, except for Aunt Cagwin and her husband, where she was just like any other girl, and it was only Aunt Cagwin who could get her out of the house with a bowl of chicken soup.

But with the recent incident of Phoebe Hoffman summoning hooligans to block someone’s path, Audrick Zachmann was somewhat concerned about her going out alone and was just about to speak up.

He then saw the man beside him say succinctly as he picked up the car keys from the table, naturally stepping past him, "Let’s go, I’ll take you there."

Nathalie Quinlan raised the corner of her eye, suppressing the interest in her eyes, and gave him a deep look. She pressed her lips together, not saying anything, which amounted to acquiescence, and walked ahead.

Amadeus Yancey watched the figure walking in front of him, picked up his coat, casually took a scarf, told Alfred Garland ’I’ll be right back,’ and stretched his long legs to follow.

In the blink of an eye, only Alfred Garland and Audrick Zachmann were left in the villa. Alfred Garland, accustomed to this scene from his time at The Ninth Institute, went about his business as if it were nothing.

Only Audrick Zachmann stood still, staring in the direction of the door for a long time, unable to snap out of it.

Hadn’t Amadeus promised him that he would wait until Nathalie went to college before he tempted fate like this? That’s not going to fly, is it?

Aunt Cagwin lived in a tube-like building not far outside McKinney No. 1 Middle School.

The neighborhood was a bit old, an allocated residential area nearby, but it had the advantage of being close to the school, with cheap rent. A three-bedroom apartment was leased for half the rent of the nearby houses.

The black sedan slowly parked outside the neighborhood; Amadeus Yancey turned off the engine, hand resting on the steering wheel, his posture relaxed, the very image of graceful nobility.

That striking face was irresistibly tantalizing!

Nathalie Quinlan, seeing her destination, pulled at the car door and found it locked. She turned her head, eyebrow raised, looking at the man in the driver’s seat.

"Open the door."

"Don’t you want me to escort you upstairs?" Amadeus Yancey curved his lips up, his smile lazy and casual.

Nathalie Quinlan, however, read a hint of seduction in his face, half-closed her eyes, and her phone vibrated just then. She checked it to see a message from Freddy Cagwin asking if she had arrived.

Nathalie Quinlan hesitated momentarily, not sure whether to reply or not.

She was downstairs, but judging by the circumstances, she likely wouldn’t be able to go up anytime soon.

Her slender fingers tapped on the phone, replying to Freddy Cagwin.

[Waiting at the traffic light, be there soon.]

After replying, she looked up, locking eyes with the other person, her gaze wild and untamed, reminding him, "Amadeus, don’t forget, you’re still on probation. Does this count as threatening an examiner?"

"Heh." Amadeus Yancey chuckled lightly, moved closer to her, their breaths entwining, his eyes as deep as a chilled pond darkened, and he leaned on the car window, his voice low and gruff, "At most, my attitude could be considered a bribe. Can’t the examiner give me a chance for a bribe? Huh?"

His last rising intonation was dangerously alluring!
