Chapter 619: He Thought She Was a Big Shot, It’s Nathalie_1

Zayn Fisher saw this legendary master for the first time and felt at first glance that he had seen him somewhere before, but couldn’t quite remember where. He was standing next to Zeus Tanzil, his back tense with nervousness.

"Mr. Norton, hello."

Zeus Tanzil appeared much more at ease than him, and was better at presenting himself, sweet-talking and sensible: "Happy birthday to you, Mr. Norton. May you have this day every year and today each and every year. May your fortune be as boundless as the Eastern seas and your life as long as the highest heavens."

The difference between them became apparent all at once.

Zayn Fisher intended to say a few more words to make amends, but seeing Shawn Norton respond coldly with a thank-you before turning to speak to Stephanie Tanzil, he wanted to flatter him but didn’t know how to approach, and fearing he might make things worse, he could only stand there awkwardly.

...

After talking with Stephanie Tanzil about the music exchange conference for a while, Shawn Norton didn’t seem to want to talk anymore.

He casually picked up a phone that was lying nearby, intending to take a casual glance, but whatever message he saw seemed to energize him instantly. He stood up, interrupting Stephanie Tanzil who was still talking to him, and said, "I’m going to meet someone outside, make yourselves at home."

Stephanie Tanzil was not seeing this reaction for the first time. A thought flashed through her mind but she felt it was unlikely, so she smiled and nodded, "Alright, Mr. Norton, please go ahead with your business."

"Mhm." Shawn Norton wasn’t the kind of person who liked to exchange pleasantries. Holding his phone, he hurried away.

Zayn Fisher watched his hasty departure and guessed in his heart that it must be some important person from Beijing that even Mr. Norton had to go out to meet personally.

It must be someone he couldn’t reach even on tiptoes!

Outside the banquet hall, Nathalie Quinlan found a corner to wait in.

She left her single shoulder bag in the hotel room, wore a duckbill cap hiding her delicate and beautiful brow and eyes, one hand in her pocket, with an earphone cable running from under the brim of her cap and earphones in her ears, her other hand holding a phone, looking at messages with her head bowed.

She stood casually, oblivious to the glances around her, not feeling out of place at all.

Yet many people passing by to enter the hall couldn’t help but take a few extra glances her way.

Someone even couldn’t help asking their friend nearby.

"Look, do you see that girl standing over there? She looks quite young. Who is she? Do you know her?"

"I don’t."

"Oh, she might just be a guest at the hotel."

The speaker shook their head, a bit disappointed, reluctantly withdrawing their gaze to join their companion entering the banquet, thinking to themselves that the girl was pretty and surprisingly not from their Circle.

With earphones in her ears, Nathalie didn’t hear their discussion about her. After waiting around five minutes, she lifted her head, removed an earphone, and saw an elderly man dressed in a traditional suit hurrying out.

If not Shawn Norton, then who?

She raised her hand to greet the elder who was looking for her: "I’m here."

Hearing her voice, Shawn Norton turned his head and saw that unruly figure. A smile appeared on his face as he walked quickly towards her: "Why didn’t you reply to my messages?"

"I’ve been messaging you since nine in the morning to come down, and you only replied to me at half-past five in the afternoon. You had me worried that you might stand me up."

"I’ve had a lot to do these past couple of days, didn’t sleep well, and accidentally fell asleep. I only just woke up,"

she said, taking a small box out of her pocket and handing it over, her eyes were clear and lucid, hiding the unruliness within, looking earnest and serious.

"A gift."
