Vol 2 Chapter 33: Militarized Mystical Civilization

Time passed day by day.

The calamity ash snow fell heavier and heavier, with the uncollected ash even accumulating into a gray layer on the ocean surface.

The world's borders expanded daily, with new invaders appearing every day only to be killed.

Some were weak, some were strong; some spurred technological progress once more, while others served merely as materials consumed by the patrol warships.

The continent-forged massive warships began their patrols across the oceans.

At regular intervals, new technologies were developed: thought transmission technology, self-operating techniques that separated body and soul, calamity ash cannons, spiritual mechanoid beast hunters...

The power system grew increasingly perfected. Dharma Form was added as a necessary transitional realm between "Internal Secret Realm" and "Heaven-Earth Symbiosis," and through Dharma Form trial and error, the Internal Secret Realm was continuously refined, forming a stable secret realm development process. Spiritual Apertures even pioneered aperture diagrams capable of unleashing specific powers.

As cultivation paths gradually solidified, realm terminology was simplified.

Qi Guidance Stage, Internal Spring Stage, Spiritual Aperture Stage, Secret Realm Stage, Dharma Form Stage, Symbiosis Stage, Ascension Stage - the first five realms' cultivation had been precision-engineered down to percentage points, with the first three realms' cultivation completely incorporated into prenatal education. However, the Ascension Stage remained merely conceptual; even those who developed their spine as a secret realm failed to achieve ultimate sublimation.

Today, in the Hall of Diligent Governance, Mo Wen compared two population expansion proposals focusing on restarting reproduction and creating artificial cultivators.

Reproduction technology had been highly optimized for wartime convenience. By extracting the bloodlines of combining parties and injecting them into standard ovum embryos placed at ley line energy convergence points for approximately five months, they could grow into infants entering the preservation zone to begin automated cultivation.

After receiving bloodline memory inheritance and dream trials, they could become usable Secret Realm Stage 1% cultivators within three years, leave the preservation zone, and were projected to reach Symbiosis Stage within ten years.

Although this was quite distant from humanity's original reproductive methods—so radical that even some relatively rigid-thinking Demon Race members struggled to accept it—Mo Wen found himself bewildered reading the submitted theoretical report. Yet this was indeed the most suitable reproductive method for current circumstances.

It even supported, based on traditional morality, parents periodically entering dreams during the trial phase to supervise and educate their children, rather than letting children directly regard the Chenyao Dynasty as their mother and dream trial teachers as fathers.

Artificial cultivators were purely about mass-producing soldiers.

Based on Abnormal Insects, system-summoned soldiers, Blood God Seed techniques, and otherworldly technologies, they used existing cultivators as templates and advanced nodes to directionally cultivate large quantities of artificial cultivators called "sub-individuals" using ley line energy.

These cultivators could be considered "avatars"—highly controlled in thought, centered around node cultivators, with nearly transparent self-awareness and lacking creativity.

However, they didn't consume the main body's spiritual energy for maintenance, instead serving as spiritual and mental energy reserves. Their intelligence was sufficient to complete most tasks independently, including cultivation, though they couldn't actively achieve heaven-earth symbiosis.

High-level cultivators who unfortunately fell in battle could possess artificial cultivators for rapid retraining, and could usually actively control them for accelerated cultivation.

Both were excellent population expansion methods.

If deciding to continue through warfare, the former was clearly better, but war would eventually end... as long as he could find the cause behind all this.

Mo Wen signed his name on the artificial cultivator resolution, once again deciding civilization's next step.

He opened the next resolution concerning whether patrol warships should conduct void-spanning expeditions to conquer other worlds, or dispatch small shuttles for exploration.

The former was safer, pressing the entire civilization's strength forward with the invincible Mo Wen, while the latter was more efficient. However, the few casualties and disappearances so far had all occurred because small shuttles reached dangerous worlds during testing.

Invaders stronger than Symbiosis Stage grand cultivators were not uncommon.

Although the Chenyao Dynasty had entered the fast lane under Mo Wen's protection, they hadn't yet reached their peak. Exploration cultivators might face powerful worlds that had developed for hundreds of thousands of years before destruction, containing countless powerful beings and extremely hostile environments.

If large-scale exploration was confirmed necessary, perhaps the latter was better, but for simply investigating other worlds' conditions, the former might be preferable.

Or perhaps constructing a new warship equipped with numerous powerful beings and emergency escape devices specifically for long-range exploration?

Just as Mo Wen hesitated, alarm sirens sounded.

Although completely blocking invasions remained impossible, detecting spatial changes was no longer difficult.

Some cultivators immediately entered combat readiness while others calmly continued their work. Mo Wen extended his perception, preparing to roughly assess whether the enemy's strength required his intervention or could be handled by others without casualties.

However, he was astonished to discover the other party hadn't been corrupted by Heavenly Demons.

A powerful spiritual formation enveloped the giant turtle from another world, with groups of soldiers standing atop its shell, their overwhelming murderous aura overflowing to form a dark cloud.

A world that had survived after being invaded, just like the Chenyao Dynasty, actually existed!

The other side was equally shocked by the patrol warships and this world.

The continent-sized massive warships were packed with weapons whose power could be felt even if not understood. Precious calamity ash fell casually from the sky, even covering the ocean surface. The world's scale was so terrifying their observation systems couldn't detect boundaries.

And those powerful beings...

They could see tens of thousands of experts comparable to non-court-appointed divine beasts, while the manifested divine beasts gave them an utterly terrifying feeling—these didn't seem strengthened through worship.

Could this be the Upper Realm?

Or was this some extremely powerful illusion?

They momentarily hesitated until Mo Wen approached them with an invincible yet incredibly gentle presence, expressing goodwill.

This must be the legendary primordial deities who created worlds and their inhabitants.

The giant turtle lowered its head as soldiers knelt on one knee, addressing Mo Wen in unison: "Revered Deity, we beg for your protection of our world."

"I am not a deity," Mo Wen explained. "This is the Chenyao Dynasty's patrol warship. I am their emperor. You may call me Mo Wen or Divine Martial Emperor."

"If you seek protection, this world is spacious enough for more civilizations to watch over and assist each other. If you pass inspection, you may join the Chenyao Dynasty."

Mo Wen's psychic power swept through their consciousness, finding no issues but instead discovering substantial special intelligence.

About the Cycle Ceremony, Immortals and Deities, Heavenly Demons, the current state of these All Heavens, and the "source of invasion."
