Chapter 451: Chapter 451: The Man Knelt on One Leg and Lifted Her Up
In just an instant of dizziness, Delphine quickly steadied herself. Holding onto the glass railing, she felt so off-balance that she almost wanted to vomit.
Melody had only casually pushed her, never expecting that Delphine couldn’t keep her balance. Her complexion turned alarmingly pale, appearing as though she might faint at any moment. Feeling guilty, Melody instinctively wanted to run away. After all, this was a hospital, bustling with people; even if she did faint, someone would witness it. Adjusting her glasses, Melody quickly rushed off with her bodyguards to Ignatius Leclair’s hospital room.
Ignatius had been hospitalized for two days. The sick man’s expression was even colder than usual, so cold that it could freeze someone with just a glance—no words necessary. Since his hospitalization, the Crown Prince of the Leclair Family had turned his hospital room into something resembling a battleground, and not a single doctor dared to risk provoking him.
Arriving outside the room, Melody knocked on the door and softly said, "Brother Ignatius, may I come in?"
Ignatius was immersed in his work and didn’t respond.
Melody pushed open the door and walked in. Seeing the sickly yet still commanding presence of this handsome man, her heart couldn’t help but pound uncontrollably. Since she was young, Melody had always had a preference for the finest things, and naturally, when it came to men, her choice had to be the most handsome and powerful man in Southeast Asia.
"Brother Ignatius, I made fish soup for you. It’s best consumed while it’s hot," Melody said gently, placing the small pot of soup on the table thoughtfully. "Even if work keeps you busy, a sick person still needs to take care of themselves."
Ignatius raised his eyes, his deep and captivating phoenix-shaped eyes accentuating his sharply defined nose and striking features. Looking at Melody, he replied indifferently, "You’ve only just recovered. Why are you out and about already?"
It had only been a few days since the trial. The scandal’s heat hadn’t subsided yet, so if the two of them were seen in the hospital together, acting familiarly, it would undoubtedly create another headache. Moreover, as Ignatius looked on coldly, he thought about the situation where Delphine had framed Melody. If Cloud Family hadn’t insisted on pressing charges, the matter could have been handled less aggressively. Why had it spiraled out of control? The Cloud Family was indeed a bit too malicious.
As for Melody, their time spent together hadn’t been long enough for him to remain unaware of her thoughts and schemes.
The man curled his lips into a faint, chilly smile. Who among the heirs of prominent families didn’t wear a few masks? In the past, he had underestimated Melody.
"I’ve mostly recovered already. When I heard that Brother Ignatius was sick, I wanted to come check on you." Melody smiled properly. Noticing that his attention still remained on his work, she acted as though speaking casually and said, "Just now, on my way here, I happened to see Delphine at the hospital with that lawyer with the baby face. The two of them seemed quite close. To be honest, I really admire her—she has a way with men that I certainly don’t."
Ignatius’s phoenix-shaped eyes darkened at her words. Unable to focus on the reports and documents he was holding anymore, he stood up and asked gravely, "Where?"
Melody panicked when she saw he was preparing to go after them and quickly said, "They left. When I saw them, they were carrying medicine and heading out."
The man’s phoenix eyes turned icy as he stormed out of the hospital room without saying another word. As he walked away, he commanded coldly, "Go find out if Delphine Carter is still in the hospital."
After issuing the order, Ignatius noticed a small commotion downstairs. His expression darkened as he hurried downstairs.
Delphine, having been shoved by Melody, felt her body becoming increasingly uncomfortable—nauseous and dizzy. She gripped the handrail and sank onto a bench. Soon, she was surrounded by concerned onlookers. Out of the crowd, someone emerged hurriedly, dropping to one knee to scoop her up in their arms. A cold, woodsy scent enveloped her completely.
Meanwhile, Desmond, who had been waiting impatiently for someone, arrived to see the imposing Crown Prince of the Leclair Family carrying their beloved Delphine with an iron-gray expression, heading swiftly toward the hospital room.
