Chapter 732 Have You Never Had Any Doubts?
Delphine saw that these people weren’t the type to be short on money, so she said coolly, "This matter is our fault. We’ll apologize and make amends. I’ll invite a mediator to resolve things—what do you think?"
These wealthy scions didn’t care about money; what they valued was power and status. Bringing in a mediator to settle things privately was the safest approach. However, the mediator had to be someone whose status commanded their respect. Simply put, it was still a game of who had the stronger backing.
Delphine glanced at her phone and saw that Ignatius Leclair had replied, saying he was coming to pick her up. Her heart steadied immediately.
"Bro, it’s the first time someone’s said they’d bring a mediator. That’s pretty novel."
One of the trust fund boys raised his eyes, speaking with great interest, "Sure, who are you planning to invite then?"
"Ignatius Leclair, Crown Prince of the South Seas—how about that?" Her expression remained indifferent; her delicate, fair features carried a cold elegance as she spoke flatly.
The young aristocrat who had been smiling froze for a moment. A man they called Brother Zhao clicked his tongue as he slapped down a card and cursed, "Fuck, who did you say? Who are you trying to scare with that cold-faced Lord Yama?"
"Where’s Nathan? How’s he still not awake? People are stepping all over us already."
"He’s coming, he’s coming." The young man who had gone out to call for someone pushed the door open and entered, followed by a tall, handsome man exuding a radiant energy.
Nathan Leclair had just woken up. His nose wrinkled as he sniffed the room filled with the smell of smoke and alcohol. When his gaze landed on Delphine, he looked slightly surprised and said, "Delphine, what are you doing here?"
Delphine was also taken aback to see Nathan, but quickly realized it made perfect sense. Without his status as the second son of the Leclair Family, these people wouldn’t dare act with such audacity.
A dull ache throbbed in her head. She said calmly, "It was your people who hit my agent and artist."
Nathan raised an eyebrow and glanced at Jack Zamora, speaking lazily, "What’s going on?"
"Bro, you know her? That little artist was trying to climb into your bed, right? I figured I’d make an example out of her so people don’t start thinking the second son of the Leclair Family is easy to push around." Jack didn’t even bother playing his cards anymore. He shooed the rest of the people at the table away, grinning as he said, "Turns out, though, it’s just a case of one family not recognizing another—what a mess."
Nathan let out a cold scoff. "You’re covering the medical bills and emotional damages. Get them sent to the hospital—now."
"Got it, right away." Jack fawned over him with an ingratiating smile, turning to apologize cheerfully to both Delphine and Kyla Zamora, as pliable as could be.
Kyla, who had seen her fair share of storms throughout her life, managed to keep her composure. Despite being beaten and threatened all night, seeing that Delphine had arrived, she felt certain even the biggest issue could be resolved. However, the junior artist, terrified and anxious after hours of fearing for her life, went weak and fainted on the spot when she realized she was safe.
Kyla and the junior artist were sent to the hospital, while the roomful of rich heirs dispersed as well.
Delphine sent Ignatius a message saying the matter had been settled. The man replied with just two words: "Wait there."
Nathan leaned against the doorway, watching her quietly. After a moment of thought, he said, "I heard Big Brother got into a car accident a while back. Took quite a hit to the head, and after waking up, he seemed like a completely different person?"
Delphine was startled that he would suddenly bring this up. She couldn’t quite read his intentions and said nothing.
The man gave a radiant, good-natured smile and said in a low voice, "Delphine, have you never once suspected anything?"
Delphine’s body stiffened slightly. She responded coldly, "What exactly are you trying to say?"
Nathan curved his lips into a smile and tousled his slightly messy hair. In a lazy tone, he said, "Nothing at all. I’m going back to sleep."
With that, he left the private room.
Jack brought Nathan’s car around, flashing a sly grin as he said, "Bro, you went through all this effort to meet her, and I even played the bad guy. How’d you end up saying so little?"
Nathan climbed into the car and spotted a Maybach approaching from the other direction. Seeing how closely Ignatius was keeping an eye on things, he let out a cold laugh. "Shut up and drive."
