Chapter 716: The Young Master Li from Nanyang Steeped in Vinegar

Ten minutes later, Delphine was sitting in the Squire Family’s living room. She had left in such haste that she was only wearing a coat. In the late hours of spring, especially in this area surrounded by green hills and flowing rivers, the chill was palpable.

The aristocratic and cold man took off his own coat and draped it over her shoulders. His large hand clasped her delicate, soft one, warming it gently.

Griffith Squire looked at the glaring scene unfolding before him and let out a cold laugh. Back then, it didn’t matter to him—now, here they are, putting on a show in front of him.

"Old Richard has already sent someone to look for Leah. Leah Squire should contact either you or Delphine," Ignatius Leclair said in a deep voice. "As for your feud with the Shaw Family, Richard will come personally tomorrow. You can sort it out yourselves."

"What you mean is, someone wants to take advantage of my grudge with the Shaw Family to manipulate you?" Griffith quickly saw through the deeper layers in just ten minutes. He curled his lips into a lazy smirk and said, "In the end, Master Leclair, you’re only here for your own interests. But why should I help you? The South was always just a temporary foothold for me—my roots are in the Golden Triangle. If worse comes to worst, I can just dust myself off and return to base."

Ignatius narrowed his deep, phoenix-like eyes, his grip on Delphine’s hand tightening slightly. He’d anticipated that Griffith would seize the opportunity to exploit the situation.

"After cleaning up the Yeager Family, you and I split fifty-fifty." His voice was low, each word deliberate, carrying a chilling weight.

At this, Delphine couldn’t sit still anymore. Her eyelashes trembled as she shivered lightly, asking softly, "Are you planning to target the Yeager Family?"

Ignatius and Griffith exchanged glances but didn’t reply. The world of men had always been a tempestuous battlefield. The arena of power and prestige in the South was no less brutal than the war-torn zones of the Golden Triangle. Those who occupied the pinnacle positions of the pyramid were scarce. If they didn’t stand firmly, the countless hands from below would drag them into irreparable doom.

Griffith’s gaze settled on Ignatius’ possessive demeanor. It was unbearably irritating. If it hadn’t been for meeting little Delphine afterward, where would this man’s current position even matter?

With his eyes narrowed, the man spoke with a half-smile, "Delphine, are you, perhaps, unwilling to let go of that childhood sweetheart of yours?"

Sure enough, Ignatius’ expression darkened instantly. Rising to his feet, he retorted coldly, "It’s late. I’ll take Delphine back to rest. I hope you still have some sense left, Griffith. Don’t do something you’ll regret."

After saying that, Ignatius didn’t give Griffith a chance to respond. He wrapped his arm around Delphine and led her out decisively.

Griffith watched his departure and sneered. "Ha, go soak in your vat of jealousy, then."

Gazing at the deep night outside, the man asked his trusted aide in a low voice, "Where is Leah now?"

"The young miss has successfully crossed the border," came the reply.

Griffith nodded. The Squire Manor returned to its usual tranquility. That unparalleled handsome face of his revealed a sharp, cold smirk.

All his displays were merely for Ignatius and Richard’s benefit. Now that Ignatius had come to intercept him, there was no need for him to go all the way to the Imperial City to continue the act.

Griffith got up and stretched, preparing for Richard’s arrival tomorrow. He hoped to beat that insufferable man to a pulp.

Delphine was cocooned in Ignatius’ coat as he half carried, half dragged her back to the villa.

The man’s handsome and noble face bore a trace of melancholy. Without a word, he carried her into the bedroom, removed her coat, tucked her under the blankets, and warmed her cold hands and feet. Finally, his phoenix-like eyes lowered slightly, his jealousy simmering as he calmly asked, "Delphine, it seems like you’ve always treated Jocelyn Yeager differently, doesn’t it?"
