Chapter 714 Leah Squire is Missing
Chapter 714 Leah Squire is Missing
After Leah went to the Imperial City, Delphine continued selecting suitable scripts in preparation for shooting her second film.
During this time, Ignatius Leclair shirked his usual work duties and happily embraced the role of a househusband. Not only did he cook and wash the dishes, but he also revamped the small garden, organizing the home meticulously. The man’s obsessive-compulsive tendencies flared up, and anything he deemed unpleasant was replaced, with several new items added that he personally favored.
Due to the recent incident involving Benjamin Leclair getting into a fight, Delphine was determined to correct his domineering parenting style. For four consecutive days, she ignored him entirely, pretending he didn’t exist, let alone sharing the same bed.
Late at night, as Delphine drifted into a groggy slumber, the man opened the door from outside.
"Delphine, did Leah say anything strange to you before she went to the Imperial City?" Still in his pajamas, the man asked in a deep voice, his handsome features shadowed by a hint of severity, waking her up.
Delphine sat up, her mind blank for a brief three seconds before processing and asking, "What happened to Leah?"
"Old Shaw said Leah Squire has gone missing," Ignatius said, extending a steady hand to grip her arm firmly. His phoenix eyes deepened, as he spoke in a low voice, "Leah likely remembered certain things from the past. If she contacts you, keep her calm. Don’t let her do anything foolish. I’ll head to the Squire Manor."
Richard Shaw’s side was already in utter chaos. Ignatius’s immediate priority was to stop Griffith Squire. If Griffith charged into the Imperial City while Old Shaw was at his wit’s end, the old, unresolved case from so many years ago could no longer be contained.
That incident implicated the Shaw Family, the Howard Family, the Lewis Family, and the long-vanished Cox Family in the Imperial City. If exposed, it would trigger a seismic upheaval.
Delphine’s face turned pale. She grabbed his arm and said, "I’ll go with you; otherwise, Griffith will kill you."
Ignatius nodded slightly.
Delphine quickly got out of bed, threw on a coat, and followed him to the Squire Family. Walking behind Ignatius, she felt a chill envelop her whole body as she clutched his arm tightly. She wanted to ask about Leah’s past but clenched her teeth and held back the question.
After all, she herself carried a dark past no one knew about, let alone what Leah had endured.
When Delphine and Ignatius arrived at the Squire Manor, the estate was ablaze with light. Griffith Squire had already been awakened in the middle of the night, and a private jet was parked on the runway at the back of the manor.
Twenty minutes earlier, Griffith had learned about Leah’s disappearance and had flown into a rage. Just as he was about to leave to confront Ignatius, he saw him arriving with Delphine. The man’s impossibly handsome face darkened with a sinister edge. He moved forward and greeted Ignatius’s striking features with a fist.
Delphine’s face turned even paler as she tried to intervene, but her slender figure was shielded tightly by Ignatius. He took the blow head-on, his face darkening with anger as he barked, "Griffith, aren’t you afraid of hurting a woman?"
"Only cowards hide behind women," Griffith retorted icily. "I’ve wanted to beat the hell out of you for ages. You’re just like that bastard from the Shaw Family—always taking it out on women."
"The situation in the Imperial City is far more complicated than you think," Ignatius exhaled deeply. Although he had turned his body, avoiding a punch to the face, the hit landed solidly on his torso. Griffith’s brute force rivaled that of Richard Shaw, and the blow was so heavy it left his bones aching.
"If you go to the Imperial City now and stir up everything from that time, do you really think you can take the Shaw Family down? Even if you manage to pull them down, will it change what’s already happened?" Ignatius’s expression darkened ominously as he coldly said, "Your sister’s disappearance took place in the Imperial City, but the key lies in the South Seas."
