the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 674: Why Didn’t She Splash It On His Face

Chapter 674: Why Didn’t She Splash It On His Face

Melody Cloud was seething with anger because of Leah, but not a hint of it showed on her face. She merely smiled weakly and said, "I’m here to congratulate Delphine. No matter how much Miss Squire dislikes me, she can’t act as the host at Delphine’s banquet and chase away the guests, right?"

"Indeed. Miss Squire is getting more and more overbearing."

"Melody came to offer her congratulations in good faith."

"Melody really has a good temper. If it were me, I would’ve been mad a long time ago."

The ladies from aristocratic families who were friends with Melody intentionally made these remarks with a sarcastic undertone.

"Leah, a guest is still a guest. After all, this is Delphine’s banquet." Griffith Squire walked over gracefully with a glass of champagne in hand, his stunningly handsome and almost devilish face showing a half-smile. His charm made the hearts of countless high-society ladies flutter. He noticed the fleeting look of pride in Melody Cloud’s eyes and his smile deepened further. Then in a smooth and seductive tone, he said, "If it were your banquet, you’d just toss her out directly instead of wasting words, wouldn’t you?"

Melody Cloud’s smile froze completely, and Leah couldn’t help but burst out laughing, saying, "Look at her. She has men shielding her left and right—truly irresistible charm."

Watching the Squire siblings’ coordinated performance that thoroughly embarrassed Melody Cloud, Delphine’s lips curled into a faint smile, trying hard to suppress it. She pulled Leah away.

"Why bother wasting words with her?" Delphine took a glass of red wine from an attendant and handed it to Leah, chuckling lowly. "Be careful—she might start harboring resentment toward you and fixate on you."

"As if I’d be scared of her." Leah scoffed indifferently, completely unconcerned.

"Alright, alright, Miss Squire fears no one. I’m the one who’s afraid," Delphine teased with a smile, casting her a playful glance. As she noticed Jocelyn Yeager approaching them, she lowered her voice and said, "You handle him for me."

"Don’t worry. Leave it to me." Leah picked up a glass of red wine and strode forward, her peach blossom eyes gleaming with mischievous light. She accidentally collided with Jocelyn Yeager, whose gaze and attention were fixated on Delphine and didn’t react in time. He watched helplessly as an entire glass of red wine spilled onto his suit. His handsome face instantly darkened.

"Oops, my hand slipped." Leah placed the wine glass back on the tray, biting her red lips seductively as she said, "I’ll make a call and have someone deliver a new set of clothes. Third Young Master Yeager, you should go to the lounge and wait for a bit to change."

Leah glanced at the brand of his suit and, feeling pleased, made the call for replacements. What a shame—why didn’t she just splash the wine directly onto Jocelyn Yeager’s face?

Jocelyn Yeager’s face was livid, and he gritted his teeth as he said, "No need. I have a spare in my car."

Delphine, seeing Leah successfully stall Jocelyn Yeager, smiled knowingly, turned around, and headed to the lounge area of the banquet. She wasn’t accustomed to crowded events, so she left the socializing to Kyla Zamora. Delphine decided to find a break room and wait until the banquet was nearing its end before leaving to be with Benjamin and the kids.

"Brother Chenmu, taking care of Benjamin all by yourself these past few years must’ve been so hard for you." Melody Cloud’s intentionally saccharine voice drifted through.

Delphine raised an eyebrow as she noticed one of the lounge doors was left slightly ajar. A man’s deep, indifferent voice came from inside: "Not particularly difficult."

"When I visited the Howard Family to see the old lady, she told me everything." Melody Cloud’s voice carried a hint of guilt and tenderness as she softly said, "If I had known earlier that you were ill, I would’ve come back sooner to be with you."

"Ill?" The man’s voice, low and alluring, drawled lazily. "What exactly have you learned?"
