Chapter 668 I’ve Long Suspected Richard Shaw Is Hiding Something from Me
Leah fell silent for a few seconds before gritting her teeth and saying, "I’ve long suspected that Richard Shaw is hiding something from me. I’ll look into it and report back."
"When are you moving in with Nicholas? If you’re living at the Leclair Family residence, it’s hard for me to come find you."
The situation in the South Sea is dire. Since Jocelyn Yeager made a move against the Squire Family at the beginning of the year, the Leclair Family’s stance has been enigmatic, seemingly enjoying the spectacle of watching the two tigers fight.
"Your childhood friend has gained considerable influence in the South Sea over the years, seemingly challenging the Leclair Family. The next time you see him, keep your distance and don’t let him manipulate you," Leah warned. "If Griffith Squire hadn’t returned, we definitely would’ve suffered a disadvantage this time and been forced out of the South Sea."
"I know." Delphine nodded. She and Jocelyn Yeager had long since become strangers. "I’ll take Nicholas to look at the house this afternoon. If there are no major issues, we’ll move in tomorrow."
"Alright, see you then."
Delphine spent the afternoon house-hunting with Nicholas. Nicholas was delighted to see the pretty auntie, and when he learned he’d be living next door to her, he was even more thrilled.
Though the villa couldn’t compare to the Squire Manor, it was still spacious enough. Leah, worried Delphine might feel lonely living there, specifically arranged for two trustworthy servants to move in.
"This entire area is under our jurisdiction. Even if Ignatius Leclair shows up, he won’t get any advantage here," Leah said smugly.
That evening, they dined at the Squire Manor. Griffith Squire, upon seeing the adorable and well-mannered Nicholas, picked up the little one and cheerfully took him on a tour of the Squire Family’s underground armory.
Nicholas, having only recently begun to grasp the world around him, gazed wide-eyed and open-mouthed throughout the tour. By the time Griffith led the little one back, Delphine noticed that her son—normally shy and reserved—had transformed into Griffith’s shadow, calling him "uncle" with unwavering enthusiasm.
Delphine was left somewhat dumbstruck.
Griffith’s devilishly handsome features curved into a teasing smile as he lazily remarked, "Your son likes me! Are you sure you won’t consider liking me too, little Delphine?"
Delphine chuckled. She had grown accustomed to Griffith’s playful banter. If she had met him years earlier, it was likely she would’ve been captivated by such a wickedly charming man. But alas, she had met Magnus Leclair first.
"Three days from now, I’ll be hosting a movie celebration party. Make sure to come," Delphine said as she watched Griffith hoist little Nicholas onto his shoulders, eliciting bursts of giggles from the child.
Leah came over, cradling a snow-white cat, and said to Delphine with a grin, "My brother’s been so infuriated by Ignatius Leclair and Reginald Yeager lately that he’s practically coughing up blood. He’s just itching for a chance to make a comeback. Whatever you do, don’t invite him, or he’ll turn your party into havoc."
"Leah Squire, it’s cruel to keep mocking me. Look, my hair’s already turning white, and you’re still undermining me?" Griffith, now playing with Nicholas in the living room like a big kid, squinted his gorgeous almond-shaped eyes in feigned indignation.
Both Delphine and Leah, watching Griffith’s childlike antics, couldn’t help but feel sentimental. They remembered how he had been gravely injured three years ago and had painstakingly recovered over two or three years. It was a relief that such a beautiful soul had managed to pull through.
After dinner, Griffith escorted Delphine and Nicholas outside. A sleek black Rolls-Royce was already parked at the gates of the Squire Manor, its arrival shrouded in mystery.
The handsome man stepped out of the car, his cold, chiseled features sharp enough to cut glass. His gaze fell on Griffith, narrowing frostily.
The Squire Family’s position was precarious, yet Griffith still had the leisure to see off his woman and her child.
This time, with Reginald Yeager making a move against the Squire Family, Ignatius had intended to sit back and watch the two families tear each other apart, then sweep in to clean up the mess. But seeing Griffith handle the situation so smoothly, his cold smile grew sharper, and he couldn’t help but feel tempted to nudge the Yeager Family further into action.
