Chapter 646: Call Me Big Brother
Chapter 646: Call Me Big Brother
Delphine discovered that Ignatius Leclair was an extremely uncooperative patient. As a patient, he had the entire team of doctors and nurses under his thumb, leaving them paralyzed and unable to act. If she wasn’t present, the phone would be ringing non-stop thanks to the nurses reporting on him.
After two days of this chaos, Delphine could easily discern the man’s intentions—he just wanted her to stay at the hospital with him 24 hours a day.
But she had her own matters to attend to. When the nurses called incessantly, Delphine would simply respond on the surface while continuing with her tasks. This man, especially someone like Ignatius Leclair who was indulgent and constantly pushing boundaries, absolutely could not be coddled.
And so, after two days of making a fuss, the man finally calmed down, obediently taking his medication and having his wounds treated. However, his face remained dark and brooding all day long, scaring everyone on the entire floor into tiptoeing around him. No one dared get close.
Until the Howard Family matriarch brought Benjamin and Nicholas to the hospital.
A pink-cheeked little girl bounced along behind Nicholas Carter, looking at her father with an air of awe, as if he were an emperor from TV shows, with everyone revolving around him. Her large, grape-like black eyes sparkled as she sweetly said, "Daddy, you have to take your medicine obediently. Great-grandma said we need to celebrate New Year’s together."
Ignatius Leclair took in the sight of the hint of fresh flesh growing on Benjamin’s pretty little face, narrowed his eyes, and said in a low voice, "Benjamin, you’ve gained weight again. While I wasn’t around, how many lollipops did you eat each day?"
Benjamin stretched out her two pink little hands, then quickly pulled them back and said, "Just one! Benjamin eats only one lollipop a day."
The man glanced at the obedient Nicholas Carter and asked gently, "Nicholas, how many snacks does Benjamin eat every day, hmm?"
Nicholas felt Benjamin tugging at his pants from behind, nearly pulling them down. The young boy’s face flushed slightly, but he never told lies. He could only stammer out, "Mommy said Benjamin should eat more while growing."
Benjamin popped her little head out from behind Nicholas and chirped loudly, "Mommy said so! If you’re mad, Daddy, go talk to Mommy!"
The man let out a cold smirk. Hah, that woman hadn’t shown up at the hospital even once today—he was definitely going to have a word with her.
"Alright, that’s better. No need to scare the kids anymore." The Howard matriarch gathered Benjamin and Nicholas into her arms, laughing. Her two grandchildren—Nicholas obedient and sensible, Benjamin smart and adorable—truly held a special place in her heart.
With the two children around, the hospital room instantly became lively and bustling. Right then, Richard Shaw arrived with Casimir Shaw in tow. The handsome and rugged man stood beside the youthful and jade-like young boy. Upon seeing them, the matriarch couldn’t stop smiling.
Casimir Shaw was nine years old, already skipping grades to attend junior high. Over the past two years, his height had surged like crazy. Blessed with the excellent genes of his parents, the striking youth radiated charisma and vitality, curiously gazing at the two little ones who only reached up to his thighs.
Fluffy, soft, and surely fun to pinch—Casimir’s gaze shifted between the obedient Nicholas and the doll-like Benjamin, a trace of playful interest glimmering in his eyes.
"Casimir," Richard Shaw instructed casually, "take your little brother and sister out to play. Don’t leave this floor." Kids could never stay put, and even though the entire floor was under tight control, Richard still issued a calm reminder.
The jade-like young boy grabbed each of the two little ones by hand and led them out of the hospital room, narrowing his eyes into a smile as he said, "Call me big brother."
Benjamin’s big dark eyes darted mischievously. She stretched out her little hand and said in her soft voice, "One time equals one lollipop."
