Chapter 606: Secret Meeting with the Beloved Girl Here
Delphine saw him take off his sunglasses, revealing a refined and fair face. Meeting a familiar face in a foreign land, she couldn’t help but smile faintly and said softly, "Why are you here too?"
Cassius Turner hadn’t seen her for over a month. Now, amidst the crowds at an altitude of over 4,000 meters, she looked as pure as the distant snow mountains, exuding an aura of cleanliness. Her eyes were gentle as he spoke softly, "I was reading the poems of Tsangyang Gyatso and had a spontaneous idea to come here for a secret meeting with the woman I love."
The man’s confession was both deep and restrained, with a double meaning.
The Makye Ame restaurant stood behind them. Rumor had it that Tsangyang Gyatso would meet his beloved at this very place.
Delphine couldn’t help but laugh. Cassius Turner was just such a person—always measured, never leaving the slightest room for displeasure or awkwardness.
Makye Ame was bustling with people. The two sat at a window seat and ordered Tibetan cuisine.
Restaurants near the Grand Illumination Temple weren’t many, and Tibetan dishes often didn’t suit the tastes of those from the Inland Territory. Many people came to Makye Ame merely for its stories and allure.
"Are you heading to Everest for filming?" Cassius Turner asked gently while they waited for their food, his attractive brows furrowing slightly in concern. He had traveled all the way from the Imperial City out of worry about the dangers of the shoot.
The high-altitude region, particularly near Everest Base Camp, was treacherous. Even transporting equipment there by helicopter made filming highly risky.
"The final scenes of the movie need to be shot at Everest. If we work quickly, we can finish in a day," Delphine nodded, fully aware of the difficulties. For this shoot, not only had they spent a fortune renting a helicopter, but they had also purchased rescue insurance for everyone in the team.
For safety, heavy equipment was abandoned, and the crew heading into Tibet was reduced to the bare minimum—those going to Everest even fewer.
"You’re truly devoted to this film," Cassius Turner sighed. Seeing her determined gaze, he knew he couldn’t dissuade her. Instead, he smiled and said, "In that case, I have no choice but to accompany you and experience Everest firsthand."
Delphine’s eyes flickered. Seeing this elegant gentleman, willing to endure hardships and even join her in filming on the snow mountains, she found herself unable to reject his offer.
After two days of rest, the group took a flight to Kathmandu, then transferred to Pokhara. After filming on location there, they took a helicopter into Everest Base Camp.
By the time they arrived, it was already winter, and the bitter cold was bone-chilling. For several consecutive days, heavy snow enveloped the area, and the weather was exceptionally harsh.
The crew braved the snow to start filming. Fortunately, the schedule wasn’t delayed, but the severe weather forced them to postpone their return, necessitating an overnight stay at the site.
The crew distributed tents and heating supplies, then began cooking hotpot in the icy wilderness while drinking beer—finding joy amid the hardship.
The filming process was far more arduous than anyone had imagined. Yet, having persevered to completion, everyone felt a sense of accomplishment, raising glasses to Everest and experiencing their first snowfield camping of a lifetime.
Inside her tent, Delphine was watching videos sent by Benjamin and Nicholas. The two little ones held hands as they went to preschool, sending her updates about their daily lives via video every day.
She was engrossed when Lucian Bates called from outside, "Director Gu, have you seen Chloe Winston? She said she was coming to find you just now."
Delphine put on her down jacket and stepped out, saying, "I’ve been in the tent all along—haven’t seen her come by."
"I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find her," Lucian Bates said with some urgency.
"Don’t panic, and don’t alert everyone else just yet. Otherwise, if everyone starts looking, they might all get lost. You stay here, and I’ll go check it out," Delphine said softly, though concern had crept into her tone.
"I’ll go with you," Cassius Turner said, appearing out of nowhere. He entered the tent, grabbed an emergency kit, an oxygen tank, a flashlight, and other supplies, stuffed them into a backpack, and walked out, saying, "Two people can look out for each other."
