Chapter 594: Old Li Might Bear a Grudge for a Year
"You think it’s tricky too?" Delphine fell silent for a moment. Given Finnian’s current status, even at the most prestigious banquets in the Imperial City, he’d still be treated as an honored guest. For him to say this, that Mr. Stewart must be quite formidable.
"I’m in a position that’s not low, but my foundation isn’t solid. Constantine Stewart might not even consider me worth his attention. If it’s Ignatius Leclair, or someone from the Howard Family, Shaw Family, or Lewis Family, then Constantine Stewart would have no choice but to show some respect." Finnian said candidly.
"Alright, I understand." Delphine nodded.
Delphine ended the call and frowned slightly. She was determined to cast Chloe Winston as the female lead, but now with Constantine Stewart involved, she absolutely didn’t want to turn to Ignatius Leclair for help.
Delphine made a call to Leah.
"Found your female lead?" Leah asked. Her beautiful, almond-shaped eyes sparkled briefly before she grumbled, "I’ve already packed my bags, but it turns out Richard Shaw’s legs have regained sensation. It’s infuriating."
The two had been keeping in touch via video call these past few days, but Leah had been tied down and unable to return.
"I suspect he’s deliberately keeping me from coming back to see you." Leah’s woman’s intuition was razor sharp.
Watching Leah gripe endlessly about Richard Shaw, Delphine couldn’t help but feel a pang of longing for her. These past few years, their reunions had been rare.
"I’m about to start filming, running here and there. Even if you come back, we still wouldn’t see each other much. Why not stay in Switzerland and focus on helping Major General Shaw recover from his leg injury?" Delphine chuckled softly. "Besides, there’s something I need your help with."
To be honest, Delphine did not want Leah returning to the Imperial City. With Griffith Squire currently missing, there was no one to shield Leah. The deep waters of the Imperial City—just hearing Ignatius Leclair mention them a few times was already chilling enough, let alone being in the thick of it as Leah had been.
"What is it? Spill!" Leah teased. "Could it be that you have too many suitors and need me to help you pick one?"
Delphine laughed and shared the situation with Chloe Winston. Leah, holding her phone, immediately began calling out in a sweet and playful tone to Richard Shaw.
The man’s voice was exceptionally deep and gentle, murmuring a few words to Leah.
"It’s Constantine Stewart?" Major General Shaw took the phone and asked, "Leah said the female lead in your movie is Constantine Stewart’s ward?"
"That’s right. Apparently, Mr. Stewart has completely blacklisted Chloe Winston. He’s really difficult to deal with, which is why I reached out to Major General Shaw, hoping you might step in and help talk to him." This was the first time in three years that Delphine had heard Richard Shaw’s voice. Back when they first met, who would have thought that this cold-blooded Major General in a wheelchair would end up whisking away her best friend?
"You’d get faster results asking Ignatius Leclair instead of me. He has some connections with Constantine Stewart," Major General Shaw said in his deep voice. Leah, dissatisfied, huffed softly on the other side. The man then gave a low chuckle and modified his tone. "Alright, I’ll speak to Constantine Stewart for you. Just know that old Ignatius is bound to hold a grudge against me for this later."
His last remark sounded more like he was talking to himself. Major General Shaw chuckled bitterly. If Ignatius knew that Delphine would rather come to him for help than ask Ignatius directly, with his vindictive temperament, he’d probably hold a grudge for a whole year.
"Thank you so much." Delphine breathed a sigh of relief, smiling as she expressed her thanks.
"No problem. In the end, we’re all family," Major General Shaw said with a meaningful tone.
"Alright, hurry up and make the call. I still need to chat with Delphine," Leah snatched the phone back, sounding coquettish as she urged the man to step away, only to let out a low and irritated cry shortly after.
Watching the two, Delphine felt her cheeks flush slightly before hanging up the phone. Lost in thought for a long while, she felt both happy for Leah and worried about her. Leah still didn’t know about the past. If she could live her whole life without remembering, perhaps that wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
