the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 593: He is My Guardian

Chapter 593: He is My Guardian

"This is the script. Take a look first and improvise on set. If it achieves the effect I want, Miss Winston, you can just focus on acting. I’ll handle everything else," Delphine said with a gentle smile.

Chloe noticed Delphine’s exquisite features. There was a hint of aloofness in her gaze, yet she wasn’t arrogant or distant. Chloe recalled how she’d risen to stardom thanks to Delphine. Initially, she’d felt resistant to the idea, but meeting her in person now, she realized that someone like Delphine was born for the stage.

Delphine Carter possessed a unique charisma that made her stand out in a crowd, unforgettable at a glance.

Chloe, an extraordinarily talented actress, bore some resemblance in her early years to Eva. After the audition, Chloe felt entirely in her element, and Delphine looked pleased as well. Right then and there, Delphine discussed collaboration terms with her.

Chloe was a bit stunned to pass the audition. She had been blacklisted for two years, and no one dared to cast her. Today, she’d shown up with a "nothing-to-lose" mentality. After all, there had been similar instances where initial interest quickly ended with polite rejections, citing reasons that the company couldn’t sign her.

"Director Carter, I might have a bit of a problem," Chloe said hesitantly. "My ID and passport have been confiscated, and my bank cards are frozen, so I might not be able to leave the country. Also, I’ll need to be paid in cash."

Delphine paused for a moment before responding, "There’s a scene in this film that needs to be shot in the Palestine-Israel Region and another at Everest base camp, so we’ll definitely need to go overseas. Are your documents being held by Mr. Stewart?"

Hearing Delphine mention Constantine, Chloe nodded. Her small face flushed briefly with a mix of shame and anger as she lowered her voice and said, "He’s my guardian."

This revelation surprised not only Delphine but also Lucian Bates, who nearly fell out of his chair. Guardian? What kind of guardian would announce to the entire Imperial City that they were blacklisting their own ward?

Delphine glanced at Chloe’s age—she had just turned 19. She was indeed still very young.

"I’ll figure out a solution for these issues. For now, take the script home, familiarize yourself with it, and focus on delivering a great performance," Delphine said after a moment of thought.

A flicker of joy flashed across Chloe’s face. Did this mean she could really act this time?

Chloe expressed her gratitude repeatedly, bowing as she prepared to leave. Just as she reached the door, she hesitated and turned back to ask, "Director Carter, why aren’t you playing this role yourself?"

With Delphine’s current status in the Entertainment Sector, directing and starring in the film would undoubtedly guarantee a box-office hit.

Delphine smiled faintly and replied, "If it had been three years ago, I would’ve played this role myself. But now, I’d rather be a kite tethered to a string than the wind roaming free."

The other end of the kite string was in Nicholas and Benjamin’s hands. She could no longer be the carefree wind; she wanted to be the protector in her two children’s journey of growth.

Chloe, half-understanding, nodded before leaving happily.

"Director Carter, are you really planning to use Chloe?" Lucian asked uneasily after learning Constantine Stewart was Chloe’s guardian. "Should we discuss this matter with Mr. Stewart first?"

"I’ll handle it," Delphine reassured him.

Delphine called Finnian to inquire about Constantine Stewart’s background.

Finnian was a bit shocked when she brought him up and asked solemnly, "Why are you asking about Constantine Stewart? That man is not someone to trifle with. If you can avoid dealing with him, then do so."
