Chapter 585 He Actually to This Woman
Chapter 585 He Actually to This Woman
Ignatius Leclair suddenly pulled his hand back, stepping away. His handsome face disappeared into the shadows of the night as he spoke in a low, husky voice, "Benjamin will sleep here."
After finishing his words, the man stepped into the car, pressed on the accelerator, and drove off, leaving Delphine Carter utterly confused.
The man drove back to the villa, entered the bathroom for a cold shower, and lay on the large bed, breathing somewhat heavily. His mind was filled with Delphine Carter’s pale, perfectly ordinary face—small by comparison, her eyes larger and more luminous than other women’s, yet without any distinct features.
The next morning, Delphine took Nicholas and Benjamin to preschool. It was the first time the two little ones went to school together, which proved to be a new and exciting experience. Benjamin was especially delighted; finally, she wouldn’t need to stay home and drink that hated milk anymore.
Kyla Zamora and Desmond Wood had already secured a suitable office space and were registering their media company. After dropping the kids off at school, Delphine met with the assistant director, Lucian Bates, to continue casting for the film, and afterward, visited Theodore Hughes at his Imperial City home.
Since his divorce, Theodore Hughes hadn’t remarried, focusing instead on raising his child, who was now in middle school. Ever since winning an award three years ago, his career had been steadily advancing, making him one of the most reputable and capable directors in the industry.
Theodore Hughes was quite pleased with Delphine’s visit. His feelings toward her were profoundly complex, viewing the young woman who had changed the trajectory of his life with an almost paternal affection.
"Actually, casting the female lead for ’When You’re Lonely, Who Will You Miss?’ is exceptionally challenging. It demands not just strong acting skills but also the right temperament and appearance," Theodore Hughes said thoughtfully, discussing Delphine’s new movie. "Many online fans suggest you play the female lead yourself, which honestly could be a great choice."
In the industry, there were plenty of actresses with solid acting capabilities, especially those with formal training. However, portraying Eva required an astonishingly stunning and profound performance, demanding both exceptional skill and an unparalleled aesthetic—qualities Delphine possessed as an accomplished Actress with an ethereal charm.
Delphine gently shook her head and replied, "I actually hope for a younger actress to take on this role. I might be able to portray the later stages, but I wouldn’t effectively capture the earlier ones."
Theodore Hughes exchanged a look with Lucian Bates, both a bit taken aback.
Lucian Bates cleared his throat and chuckled, "Director Carter, if you told people you were eighteen and just graduated high school, I’d completely believe it."
Theodore Hughes nodded in agreement, suddenly recalling that Delphine was already a mother of two. Yet, she still appeared as pure and fresh as a student, her essence as clean and untouched as water, untainted by the mundane world.
"Are you worried that taking on this role might resonate too deeply, that you’ll immerse yourself within it and struggle to detach afterward?" Theodore Hughes remembered how, during the filming of ’Twin Flowers,’ Delphine had once spiraled into depression from getting lost in the character.
"It’s just a pity. Choosing the ideal female lead only to pass on it... Your debut film might always carry some regret," Theodore Hughes remarked wistfully.
"I’ll think about it again," Delphine murmured, her expression pensive. The character of Eva bore far too many parallels to her own life. Her playing this role would undoubtedly shatter the longstanding barriers surrounding her, unleashing her authentic self. Was she willing to become the wind, unbound and free?
Delphine’s dark, gem-like eyes flickered slightly, caught between hesitation and determination.
