Chapter 565 Daddy’s Bad, Benjamin Doesn’t Want to Be Punished by Standing
The man stood in the bedroom, made a call to Arthur, and coldly asked, "You didn’t report Delphine Carter’s return?"
Arthur was startled awake from his bed in the middle of the night and murmured, "There was some French guy chasing Miss Delphine earlier. You said these minor matters didn’t need to be reported anymore."
Ignatius Leclair let out a cold laugh and hung up the phone without another word.
Cassius Turner drank far too much the night before. By the time the noisy city woke him up the next morning, his head was pounding painfully. As the man stepped out of the car and saw it parked by the roadside, he frowned and immediately shook Yeats Howard awake, asking, "Why did you park the car here?"
Yeats Howard, having only slept for a few hours, swatted away his large hand and muttered, "My uncle... told me... to move the car."
"Ignatius Leclair came by last night?" Cassius’s expression changed drastically as he quickly searched for his phone.
Yeats turned over and said, "Came to pick up Benjamin."
Wilbur Turner’s entire body stiffened. He immediately jumped into the driver’s seat and floored the gas pedal, heading straight for the courtyard.
"Damn it! Are you trying to kill me?" Yeats Howard, who had fallen off the back seat, rubbed the back of his head. That one jolt sobered him up completely, and he cursed angrily, "What the hell is wrong with you? Why are you acting crazy?"
Cassius Turner found his phone near his feet, opened it, and saw the message Delphine sent him early in the morning: "Professor Turner, can you come to the courtyard this morning?"
Wilbur Turner wanted nothing more than to punch himself senseless. Why on earth did he go crazy drinking yesterday? With the way Delphine’s personality was, avoiding him for so many days already, there’s no way she would contact him unless she truly had no other option.
It was obvious how deep the shadow Ignatius Leclair had cast over her.
Cassius Turner sped up the car, terrifying Yeats in the back seat, who clutched the handrail tightly and yelled, "Wilbur, are you losing your mind this early in the morning? I don’t want to die young! Slow down, slow down!"
By the time Cassius pulled the car up at the alley entrance, Yeats didn’t even bother arguing anymore. Seeing Cassius get out of the car without a word, Yeats hurriedly followed him. Bloody hell, why is everyone rushing to that courtyard? His uncle didn’t seem to leave yesterday, right? And his little Benjamin ancestor? Where’s Benjamin?
Cassius hurried into the courtyard, quickly splashed his face at the pond nearby to wake up and tidy up his appearance, then stepped into the western house.
Benjamin Leclair and Nicholas Carter had already been awakened by Delphine.
Nicholas Carter, accustomed to rising early, immediately began to make his bed and then went off to brush his teeth.
Benjamin, rubbing her eyes and speaking softly, said, "Mommy, hug me."
The little girl stretched out her arms to hug Delphine’s neck, buried her small head in her chest, and continued to sleep.
Delphine was torn between laughter and tears. She could only speak softly, "Benjamin, your daddy is here."
Benjamin jolted awake, quickly slid down from Delphine, clung to the wall, and peeked out with her fluffy little head.
The man sitting in the living room was dealing with some documents. Without even looking up, he said in a cold, low voice, "Benjamin Leclair, brush your teeth and wash your face. Then stand here as punishment."
Benjamin’s small mouth pouted, and her big eyes welled up with tears as she looked at Delphine pitifully. Softly, she said, "Mommy, Daddy’s mean. Benjamin doesn’t want to stand as punishment."
After a full night’s sleep, Benjamin had decided that Nicholas’s mommy was her mommy too.
Feeling a pang of sympathy, Delphine picked her up, but as for the man sitting in the living room, there was nothing she could do.
"Mommy, call Great-Grandma," Benjamin whispered into her ear sneakily, "Tell her Daddy wants to hit me."
