Chapter 491: Registering for Marriage Tomorrow

Chapter 491: Registering for Marriage Tomorrow

Maximilian pondered, still feeling that something was amiss. Even if Arthur had deliberately leaked the news about Ignatius and Miss Delphine’s relationship back then, triggering the chain of events that followed, now that time had passed and Ignatius and Miss Delphine were back together, it shouldn’t be a hurdle that couldn’t be overcome.

Though he was a bit rough around the edges, Maximilian was aware that Arthur must still be hiding many things.

Arthur White fell silent for a while before asking, "Did something happen in South Asia?"

"Nothing major, except for Ignatius and Miss Delphine preparing for their wedding." Maximilian thought it over and found that apart from the wedding, nothing else could be considered significant.

Arthur suddenly lost his composure and spoke with a hint of seriousness: "I’ll get in touch with Ignatius’ former doctor. In the meantime, remember to keep a close watch on Delphine Carter. Miss Delphine may appear gentle on the surface, but she’s actually very resolute and strong-willed."

"Are you saying Miss Delphine might not be willing to go through with this marriage?" Maximilian’s voice wavered slightly. "Why don’t you just secretly come back? Back in the day, you spent the longest time with Ignatius and knew him best."

"Just remember what I said. Keep an eye on Miss Delphine," Arthur refused flatly, then hung up the phone. His face was somewhat pale, and his mood turned heavy. Years ago, he had made a promise never to set foot in South Asia lightly. If the day came when he had no choice but to return, the situation would undoubtedly have escalated to its absolute worst.

Ignatius Leclair had always been decisive and efficient. For several consecutive days, Maximilian came and went, asking about all sorts of wedding arrangements.

It was unclear what Ignatius had said to her father, but Yun Zhi, who had initially opposed the marriage, gradually loosened his stance after a few days, falling silent and refraining from further comments.

Seeing how things were unfolding, Delphine realized that in less than two months, she would be married off. Panic surged in her chest.

Later that night, when Ignatius came over, Delphine uncharacteristically stood up and took the initiative to talk to him.

The man had been in great spirits recently. His handsome and austere features softened, and his thin lips curved upward in a slight, tender arc.

"I have something I need to discuss with you." Delphine initially wanted to address him as "Young Master Ignatius," but worried it might provoke him. Calling him by his name felt awkward; back in her youth, she had trusted him wholeheartedly and called him "big brother." Now, her personality had become cold and distant, devoid of the warmth and innocence of her younger days, and those two words simply refused to escape her lips.

Ignatius’ phoenix-like eyes deepened, resembling a bottomless pool that could easily entrap someone. He walked over to stand beside her and murmured deeply, "Go ahead."

"I want to wait until after the child is born to hold the wedding," Delphine said while carefully watching his expression. Seeing that he wasn’t angered, she continued gently, "Weddings are too noisy and chaotic."

Ignatius mulled it over for a moment, knowing that her preference for peace and quiet made such an aversion understandable. He nodded and said, "Let’s register the marriage first. Tomorrow, we’ll take care of it. The wedding can be postponed."

Delphine’s heart raced. Her hands and feet felt clammy as she stammered, "I... I’m still undocumented."

Her household registration wasn’t in South Asia. Previously, she had been fostered with that repulsive cousin’s family. Now, after disappearing for years, she had no idea what her current legal status was.

Ignatius let out a low, faint chuckle, his phoenix-like eyes dark and soulful. Unable to suppress himself, he reached out and wrapped his arm around her waist, saying, "I already had Maximilian handle your registration. It’s been transferred to South Asia. I even transferred property under your name here. As for traces from the past, they’ve been erased. Now, you’re considered a native South Asian."

Delphine’s heart sank completely.
