Chapter 409: If he doesn’t find a way to get rid of these siblings, Delphine Carter will also be causing trouble.
Ignatius Leclair’s expression changed abruptly, his sharp eyes blazing as he reached out and gripped her arm tightly. His voice was heavy as he said, "Delphine Carter, think carefully before you speak."
Calling her by her full name unmistakably revealed his genuine anger.
Delphine frowned, trying to break free, but the man’s grip only tightened. He spoke coldly, "I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that. Even if you acknowledge Yunji after twenty years, a biological father and daughter are no more than strangers. You and I are the true family, do you understand?"
"That’s quite a statement, Mr. Leclair. I don’t much like hearing it," Leah Squire said, walking over with a small jar of tonic. Her exquisite, icy features carried a mocking smile as she said coquettishly, "If we’re talking about who’s closer to little Delphine, my brother and I are definitely ahead of you. Some people not only have thick skin but also an overabundance of confidence. I simply can’t bear to watch."
After mocking Ignatius Leclair, Leah fluttered her charming almond-shaped eyes and offered affectionately, "Delphine, I asked the family servants specially to make this love-infused soup, and I brought it here personally. You simply must drink it."
Ignatius watched as Leah twisted her slender waist and forced herself between him and Delphine, even pushing him toward the farthest corner. His face turned dark instantly. If not for his principle of never hitting women, he’d really want to throw this woman out.
"I heard Miss Squire has amnesia and can’t remember a thing about her past?" the man’s icy voice came with deliberate malice as he sneered, "Is it true you can’t remember, or are the past memories so disgraceful that you’d rather not recall them?"
"What’s that supposed to mean? You talk like you know me," Leah’s face stiffened. She had always hated people bringing up her amnesia. She sneered instantly, "If I did know you back then, I must have been terribly unlucky for eight lifetimes."
When it came to sharp tongues, Leah Squire had never feared anyone.
Delphine felt a headache coming on. She tugged Leah and glared at her, saying, "Why do you always have to pick a fight every time you see him?"
Leah feigned a pitiful look and whined, "I’m not quarreling anymore. A good woman doesn’t argue with a man. No more fighting."
Then she shot Ignatius a defiant glance.
Ignatius’s almond-shaped eyes narrowed sharply. He let out a cold snicker, moved to the side, and dialed Richard Shaw. This Squire sibling duo was utterly exasperating; they were clearly the ones corrupting Delphine.
If he didn’t come up with a way to deal with them, Delphine would soon be running wild too.
Richard Shaw was sitting with Casimir Shaw watching cartoons. When the phone rang, Casimir quickly pressed for a video call and cheerfully called out, "Uncle Leclair, why don’t you ever come play with me? Old Richard only ever lets me watch cartoons. I’m already eight!"
Eight? Ignatius paused in thought, his heart softening for the child. That someone as spoiled as Leah Squire could have such an adorable child was truly surprising.
"Uncle Leclair has been busy these past few days, but you can make a wish. Whatever it is, Uncle will make it come true for you," Ignatius said with a faint smile, his handsome face softening a little.
Casimir’s beautiful almond-shaped eyes lit up. He sneaked a peek at Richard before scampering off to the hotel suite’s balcony. Lowering his voice conspiratorially, he asked, "Uncle Leclair, could you help me find Mommy? But don’t mention it in front of Old Richard, or he’ll start crying again."
Ignatius couldn’t help but chuckle, a deep gleam flashing through his sharp eyes, and he nodded. "Alright, consider it your Children’s Day present from Uncle."
"But Children’s Day is so far away. I can’t wait," Casimir frowned, poking at the phone screen. "Can I open my present early?"
"You can," the man said softly. "Now, let Old Richard take the call."
