Chapter 402: This man has lived the life of a widower for many years, he must have loved deeply.

"Who? Richard Shaw, the Major General from Imperial City you mentioned before?" Leah suddenly remembered the striking license plate, slapped her thigh, and exclaimed, "It must be him! The people who cornered us were military personnel. That black, modified SUV could practically function as a tank. Damn, turns out it was that bastard."

Delphine pinched her pouting cheeks and smiled, "Mr. Shaw isn’t like what you’re imagining. When you meet him, you’ll understand."

Delphine had never mentioned to Leah about Richard Shaw’s paralysis. A man like him, born into the prestigious Shaw Family in Imperial City, reportedly widowed and raising a child alone for many years. Given his status, even with his condition, the number of women eager to marry into the Shaw Family is as vast as schools of fish crossing a river. Not to mention, the man himself is extraordinarily brilliant. Delphine contemplated; for this man to have lived as a widower all these years, he must be deeply devoted in matters of the heart. A passionate man like him wouldn’t likely be a cruel, merciless type.

"Meet him? Of course I will. Tonight’s debt hasn’t been settled yet." Leah clenched her teeth and scoffed coldly. Knowing the person who cornered her was Richard Shaw didn’t faze her; instead, she deliberately stayed put, unbothered. Major General or not, he still couldn’t bend the rules. Besides, the Cloud Family might cause even more of a commotion tomorrow. Leah made up her mind not to leave.

That evening, the two huddled on the carpet, spreading out two quilts, squeezed into the same bed, chatting away.

The Leclair Family members returned late in the night, while Ignatius Leclair didn’t come back at all.

Ignatius stayed in the hospital throughout the night without sleep. Another sleepless figure was the Major General from Imperial City—Richard Shaw. Leah Squire’s red Ferrari had been fished out of the water, yet her fate was uncertain. After all, she was still a branch member of the Cox Family. Richard Shaw spent the night wide awake.

Early the next morning, Casimir Shaw bounded off his flight to South Sea, and as soon as he landed, he called Richard.

"Hey, Uncle Richard, I’ve arrived in South Sea! Uncle Ignatius sent someone to pick me up," Casimir gleefully said, backpack slung over his shoulder, dressed in a puffer jacket with a little tiger motif. His beautiful, peach-blossom eyes sparkled, and combined with the two sweet dimples on his cheeks when he smiled, he attracted plenty of motherly fans along his journey.

Richard was slightly surprised but didn’t say much. He personally went to pick up Casimir and brought him back to the hotel.

This time around, Richard once again chose to stay at a hotel in South Sea instead of purchasing property there. Compared to other heirs of prestigious families, Richard’s lifestyle could be considered humble. Although the Shaw Family wasn’t obscenely rich, their distinguished heritage ran deep, ensuring their wealth wouldn’t run dry even after three generations. Such frugality on Richard’s part naturally carried over to the Shaw Family branches as well, fostering a cautious attitude against extravagance, lest word spread to the matriarch and she felt heartache for her grandson.

Midway through, Richard gave Ignatius a call and asked, "What’s so tricky in South Sea that made you bring Casimir from the Shaw Mansion?"

Ignatius, who was returning to the Leclair’s estate, looked colder than usual. Melody Cloud had already woken up early that morning, claiming Delphine had arranged to meet her, drugged her unconscious, and when she came to, she nearly fell victim to assault. Now, the Cloud Family members were flocking to the Leclair estate demanding justice.

"This time, it’s a bit of a mess." Ignatius recounted the events of the previous night and added, "This time, protecting Delphine will anger both the patriarch and the Cloud Family. If the situation spirals out of control, make sure you bring Casimir to intervene. Your son is the apple of the eye of the Shaw, Howard, and Leclair Families’ elders. At critical moments, he can save the situation."

Richard frowned upon hearing this and instinctively felt something was amiss. Knowing Delphine’s disposition, he could believe her taking on old Leclair, but plotting against Melody Cloud seemed somewhat unlikely.
