Chapter 386 If Delphine Carter Is Not Eliminated, There Will Be No Place for Them in Nanyang
Ignatius Leclair was juggling the wedding arrangements and mediating arguments, utterly exhausted. His face was grim as he arrived to find the lounge crowded with people. An unfamiliar, overweight woman was sprawled on the floor, throwing a tantrum, while Delphine stood alone, her small face frosty and her dress stained with red wine. Seeing this, his anger flared instantly. His phoenix eyes narrowed sharply, and his cold gaze swept toward Bessie Leclair.
Bessie had already been intimidated by Delphine’s earlier threat, but when she saw her elder brother approach without asking for details and directly warn her, her face turned white with rage.
The crowd cleared a path for him. Ignatius strode over to Delphine with an air of dominance, his handsome and stern countenance as cold as ice. Without saying a word, he shrugged off his suit jacket and draped it over her shoulders, concealing the wine stains and her graceful collarbone.
"Maximilian, get someone to bring a dress for Delphine. As for the woman wailing on the floor and the troublemakers, all of them—throw them out," his deep and chilling voice commanded. As he spoke, his piercing gaze swept over the onlookers, leaving them paralyzed and desperate to escape the scene.
He made the decision without asking for an explanation.
A bridesmaid, oblivious to the gravity of the situation, muttered venomously, "This woman should be thrown out too. She seduced someone and got caught red-handed by Mrs. Cheng."
Her words plunged the room into dead silence.
The crowd, some of whom had been about to leave, froze in terror and shot daggers at the foolish bridesmaid.
To tarnish Ignatius Leclair’s reputation was to court danger. Even if such rumors were true, they were not meant to be voiced aloud.
Ignatius froze mid-action. His phoenix eyes darted toward the speaker, narrowing sharply, his cold aura suffocating everyone present. His gaze shifted from the bridesmaid to Mr. Cheng, who was pretending to be unconscious on the floor, as though he were looking at something already dead.
"Mr. Leclair, I just entered the wrong room. I swear I didn’t do anything," Mr. Cheng whimpered, lying in a heap on the floor, his face clawed and bloodied. Despite his fear, he mustered up a reckless courage, grabbed Mrs. Cheng, and shouted furiously, "It’s this crazy woman causing trouble! She’s always accusing me of cheating—I’d never dare do such a thing!"
"I’m causing trouble? You’re the one sleeping around!" Mrs. Cheng wailed, and the two began to grapple furiously.
The onlookers froze, their foreheads dripping sweat.
Ignatius lowered his gaze, ignoring the shameful fight between the couple. His sharp brows furrowed harshly as he coldly ordered, "Drag them out."
The slight change from "throw" to "drag" marked an entirely different fate.
"Why are you dragging me?" After the Cheng couple was dragged away, the bridesmaid behind Bessie whimpered tearfully, and minutes later, she too was evicted from the 99th floor.
Only then did Ignatius turn to Bessie, delivering a cold warning: "Bessie, if even the tiniest mishap affects this wedding, the wedding will be canceled altogether."
After delivering his merciless warning, he reached out, pulling Delphine away and leaving with her.
The startled crowd watched as the eighteen bridesmaids were reduced to an odd number. Coupled with Ignatius’s ruthless words, it was as though they had stumbled upon a deeply buried secret, and they scattered in panic.
Bessie, trembling with fury, yanked the Diamond Bracelet off her wrist, furiously smashing it onto the floor and shouting through her tears, "Why?! Why?!"
The remaining bridesmaids, still shell-shocked, stepped forward to console her.
From the reception area, Melody Cloud approached and surveyed the scene coldly. Her eyes took in everything, her heart consumed by jealousy and rage. If Delphine Carter wasn’t eliminated soon, the southern islands would have no place for her family to stand.
