Chapter 385: Isn’t This Putting a Green Hat on Young Master Li?

Mrs. Stirling kicked Mr. Stirling away and charged toward Delphine with a ferocious momentum, her plump body wobbling as she moved. The onlookers, astonishingly, were all watching with glee, as if enjoying a drama.

Delphine’s expression remained cold and detached. Seeing Mrs. Stirling charging at her, she sidestepped effortlessly. Without much visible action, she managed to throw her to the ground, leaving the crowd somewhat disappointed.

Narrowing her eyes, Delphine gazed at Mrs. Stirling and said coldly, "If you’re thinking of stripping me, I’m afraid you’re not qualified."

Mrs. Stirling, stunned from the fall, took a moment to register what happened before bursting into tears, wailing loudly, "The mistress hit me! The mistress hit me!"

Instantly, her screeching pierced the air, creating utter chaos.

Bessie Leclair glanced disdainfully at the inept Stirling couple, who couldn’t even handle an unarmed woman. With deliberate laziness, she finally spoke, "Perhaps there’s been a misunderstanding. How could Delphine have any entanglement with Mr. Stirling? After all, Delphine belongs to my elder brother."

She didn’t finish her sentence, leaving the rest to the imagination of her audience, drawing a subtle but loaded implication.

Behind her, a bridesmaid murmured under her breath, "Bessie, wouldn’t that mean Delphine is cuckolding Ignatius?"

The words caused an uproar. Shock filled the room: this woman belonged to Ignatius Leclair? And yet, she was sneaking around, cheating on him, and adding insult to injury by cuckolding him?

Seeing the crowd intimidated by her brother’s name and even avoiding eye contact with Delphine, Bessie smirked coldly. She teased, "Well, not exactly. It’s just that I’ve seen her clinging to my brother a few times—I wouldn’t have thought her taste could be this bad."

The ambiguous insinuation instantly nailed Delphine to the pillar of shame once again.

The crowd suddenly understood: so, she was a vain, fame-hungry minor celebrity. Failing to seduce Ignatius, she had turned her sights on Mr. Stirling instead.

Delphine, observing the way Bessie and her pack of bridesmaids were gleefully putting on their little act, took a deep breath. Her face turned icily cold. These women truly never tired of their tiresome, clichéd tricks. In the past, she would have gone to great lengths to protect her reputation. She would have avoided any association with Ignatius Leclair, ensuring there wasn’t even a shred of gossip about a supposed sugar daddy. But now...

Raising her gaze, Delphine offered a faint, chilly smile. "Bessie, causing such a scene at your own wedding—are you planning not to get married today?"

"It’s you and your indecent behavior disgracefully stirring up trouble—what does it have to do with me?" Bessie retorted with a cold laugh. It took her a moment to fully comprehend the threat buried in Delphine’s words. When the realization hit, she suddenly screeched like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, "What are you trying to do?"

"Exactly what you think," Delphine said indifferently. She had always known that Bessie’s Achilles’ heel was Jocelyn Yeager. And Jocelyn’s fondness for her had always been the reason Bessie relentlessly tormented her.

"Don’t you dare," Bessie’s entire body trembled with rage. But deep down, she knew that if Delphine merely said the word, Jocelyn would truly drop everything and leave with her.

"Ignatius is here," someone keen-eyed noticed his arrival and softly reminded the others.

The commotion in the lounge was so loud that Ignatius Leclair had naturally caught wind of it. He had instructed his people not to alarm the elders before coming to investigate the situation himself.

The circumstances surrounding this marriage were intriguing, to say the least. Since the families had failed to reach an agreement on their mutual interests, the Yeager patriarch had refused to take any active role in managing the wedding. Jocelyn, being an illegitimate child, had fought hard to overthrow his elder brother and stepmother. With no family elder stepping in, his attitude toward the wedding was one of indifference.

Astonishingly, on the groom’s side, the Yeager Family essentially washed their hands of the matter, treating the wedding with complete apathy, leaving all the arrangements to be handled by Ignatius.

Initially, the Leclair patriarch wasn’t aware of this. Upon arriving at the scene and witnessing the Yeager Family’s dismissive attitude, he was infuriated. Both patriarchs had since retreated to a separate room, where they were busy arguing while others either quarreled or tried to mediate behind closed doors.
