Chapter 340: All Men in the World Are Heartless and Unfaithful

Chapter 340: All Men in the World Are Heartless and Unfaithful

Delphine saw her dragging a suitcase. No wonder things had been so chaotic in the past few days without her showing up—she had been purposely sent away.

The only person who could send Bessie Leclair away was Jocelyn Yeager.

Thinking of Jocelyn Yeager, Delphine let out a soft sigh, her emotions becoming complicated.

The old man was playing upstairs with Isaac Leclair. Hearing the commotion, he came downstairs and saw Bessie standing at the door crying. The old man had a soft heart and immediately called out in concern, "What’s wrong, Bessie? Weren’t you supposed to be on vacation?"

Ignatius Leclair, having seen Bessie’s act countless times, was long immune to it. He pressed his lips together tightly and silently watched her performance.

"Grandpa, there must be a misunderstanding about Jocelyn. Brother Jocelyn and I are supposed to get married after the New Year. How could he elope with Delphine? At most, he must have just felt sorry for her and sent her away." Bessie dropped her suitcase, ran over, and clung to the old man’s hand while crying.

The old man immediately fell silent. He had already been reluctant for Bessie to marry Jocelyn due to Jocelyn’s illegitimate background. Now, seeing how Jocelyn had kidnapped Delphine, it was clear he didn’t genuinely care about his granddaughter, which made the old man even less willing.

Moreover, the Yeager Family was excessively cold-hearted. When the Yeager patriarch came over to trample on them, he had not considered that his children were about to get married.

"This marriage is better off canceled," the old man said grimly.

Bessie let out a sharp scream, nearly blacking out. Back when Melody Cloud had proposed her plan, Bessie hadn’t agreed to it, yet she soon found herself deceived and taken away by Jocelyn.

Not only had that man seen through Melody Cloud’s plan, but he had tried to elope with Delphine. After being caught and brought back, he had completely ruined his relationships with their family.

"I don’t care! I don’t care! I have to marry Brother Jocelyn," Bessie sobbed uncontrollably, throwing out a bombshell, "I’m already pregnant, the baby is two months old!"

As she spoke, Bessie started rummaging for her lab test report.

Hearing this, the old man’s face changed drastically, his body trembling with anger.

Delphine was also stunned. Seeing Bessie’s pale face and heartbroken crying, she didn’t seem to be lying. If Bessie was indeed pregnant, and Jocelyn had still orchestrated everything to kidnap Delphine and elope, he was nothing short of the scum of the earth.

Whatever lingering guilt Delphine had for him evaporated entirely.

Men in this world were all heartless, selfish creatures.

"You’re pregnant? Does Reginald Yeager know?" Ignatius narrowed his eyes and asked coldly.

Bessie shook her head while crying.

The old man, unable to berate or punish her, sat down in fury and ordered the butler to call Bessie’s parents.

"All they do is bury themselves in research. Tell them to come back immediately, or I’ll break their legs!" The old man thundered, pounding his cane loudly in frustration.

The New Year hadn’t even passed, and yet the troubles were overwhelming.

The old man thought of his eldest grandson, Ignatius, who had lost his mother at an early age, while Bessie’s parents had been absent for years. He, an old man, had struggled to take care of her, but with his wife having left him long ago, he couldn’t help but feel melancholic.

"Butler, call the Yeager Family and demand Reginald and the Yeager patriarch come for a meeting. Set the location at Cloud Summit," Ignatius instructed coldly, handling the sudden crisis with decisiveness. "Grandpa’s health isn’t good, so he shouldn’t be involved. Bessie will accompany me."

After speaking, Ignatius glanced at Bessie, his deep, sharp eyes filled with a knowing clarity.

Bessie’s heart raced intensely. She stiffened but nodded. This was her only chance. After chasing him for so many years, this man had to belong to her—otherwise, the shame would be unbearable among her friends.
