Chapter 1069: He Fulfilled His Duties, Even in Bed
"Major General, we’ve arrived at the hospital." Shuanger drove swiftly, stopped at the hospital entrance, got out quickly, and opened the car door with a smile.
On New Year’s Eve, the hospital only had on-duty doctors. Luna Lawrence’s burn was fairly severe, so after applying medicine and getting an IV drip, she was admitted to the hospital.
When Richard Shaw returned to the Shaw Family’s place, it was almost dawn. Shuanger drove him to the Shaw Mansion and said weakly, "Major General, should I explain to Madam? She was in a really bad mood when she called me."
Richard Shaw said coldly, "No need, you can go back now."
Since it was really late, Richard Shaw didn’t go back to the bedroom but rested briefly on the sofa in the study room.
Crystal Landon had been waiting from midnight until the sky was gray but still didn’t see him return. It wasn’t until Shuanger sent her a message that she knew Richard Shaw had already returned to the Shaw Mansion.
She let out a cold laugh, looking at the quiet, unmoving bedroom door, knowing he probably wouldn’t come back to the bedroom to sleep tonight. She got up and went to the balcony to smoke a cigarette. Her phone kept ringing in the middle of the night, with many people sending her New Year wishes and red envelopes.
Hawk Howard even sent her a message at five o’clock, wishing her a happy new year.
Also sleepless, she squinted at her phone for a long time until she found the man’s WeChat at the very bottom, with only a message from over a year ago, one she couldn’t bear to delete.
Crystal took a hard drag on her cigarette and was choked, coughing uncomfortably. It turned out that after quitting smoking for so long, her body would reject it when she smoked again.
She put out the cigarette and deleted the man’s WeChat, then sat on the balcony, looking at the sky outside, her thoughts swirling until dawn.
Maybe she was gambling, perhaps waiting for a result; she didn’t know what she was waiting for.
She couldn’t quite remember when she started liking this man, probably thinking at that time that this brother was good-looking and fell for him. Later, when he ignored her, she became intrigued. When they got married, he made it clear he could give her everything but love, and she had overstepped.
Crystal laughed quietly to herself, thinking she considered herself carefree, but she was the one who couldn’t see through it. He always did well, being his Major General, being the dutiful grandson, and fulfilling his duty as her husband, giving her control of the household, even fulfilling his duty in bed. He did it perfectly, even when she threw an ashtray at him, he didn’t say anything.
She sat in the early spring’s cold wind, feeling her eyes sting terribly. It’s no big deal; she could do well too. As long as she had a child and lived up to Grandma Shaw’s expectations, what did it matter whether this man was there or not?
She wiped her sore eyes, lifted her chin with effort, forcing her tears back before going back to sleep.
Less than two hours after falling asleep, Crystal got up, seeing her complexion was terrible. She put on a face mask and soaked in the bath for half an hour. Instead of the mature outfit she had carefully purchased, she chose a loose-knit sweater and slim pants she liked, and went downstairs to wish the old lady a happy new year.
In the living room, the old lady had already woken up, sitting in front of the fireplace. Richard Shaw was also awake, the blood mark on his brow strikingly noticeable.
The old lady, distressed, asked Sister Zhao to fetch the first aid kit, then nagged, "How did you manage to hit your head on the bed edge while sleeping? We should get a bigger bed next time."
Crystal smirked coldly at that. He might as well say she threw it, and while he’s at it, explain where he went in the middle of New Year’s Eve night.
