Chapter 107: Conversation
Chapter 107: Conversation
Rosalie Jennings was determined to talk to Holly Sawyer, she stayed at the school gate waiting for her, just to block Holly.
When Holly walked to the school gate, she saw Rosalie Jennings, and she slightly curled her lips into a smile and stepped forward.
Holly raised an eyebrow, "What’s up?"
"I... I want to chat with you."
Rosalie was about to say something else but changed the topic suddenly.
She felt somewhat apprehensive about Holly.
Holly agreed, "Okay."
The two sat down in a nearby café, where the café wasn’t crowded, and gentle English songs echoed quietly.
"Say what you have to say; I need to go home for dinner."
Holly leaned back in the chair, crossed her legs, and folded her arms, looking all boss-like.
Mrs. Hayes was cooking dishes she liked tonight, so she was definitely going home to eat, and she was having dinner with Leo.
"Are you serious about Leo?"
Rosalie stared at the liquid still swirling in her cup, her voice was soft.
Holly retorted, "What do you think?"
Holly thought Rosalie was quite amusing; she had already teamed up with Sean Grant, with a principle of destroying what she couldn’t get, yet now she was concerned with Leo.
Whether she was genuine or not, did it even matter in front of Rosalie?
"Your status isn’t simple, I know you’re capable."
Rosalie suddenly lifted her head and bit hard on her lip.
Holly: "And then?"
She knew her status wasn’t simple, but so what?
"I’ve liked Leo for five years, oh no, it should be eight years."
Rosalie suddenly said sentimentally, her eyes fixated on Holly.
Eight years?
That is quite a while.
Holly looked at Rosalie but did not express her views.
"Could you let me have him?"
Rosalie’s expression approached pleading.
She really liked Leo very much, and she always felt she had a chance when there were no other women around him.
Perseverance over time, it was just a matter of patience.
Holly’s appearance made her panic, and she did the wrong thing by teaming up with Sean Grant to deal with Leo.
She felt she’d made a mistake.
"Let? Is he a commodity?"
Upon hearing Leo’s name, Holly directly laughed, finding it quite ridiculous.
Leo is a person, not an object—what’s this talk of letting or not letting?
Rosalie is really quite funny.
Rosalie shook her head, "No."
"Even if I didn’t exist in this world, it would still be impossible for you and him."
Holly chuckled softly and spoke slowly.
Such trivial feelings are inherently complex.
Leo and Rosalie have known each other for so long, were together for a year, and still couldn’t continue—what does that tell?
It shows that Leo has never truly had Rosalie in his heart, and everything was just Rosalie’s solo performance.
"Tell him, it might work."
Rosalie took a deep breath, biting her lip lightly, her voice softer than ever, seeming to scatter with the wind.
She also knew it was impossible, but she wanted to deceive herself a little.
"Ridiculous."
Holly smashed the cup in her hand heavily on the table, making a crisp sound as the coffee spilled out.
The café wasn’t particularly crowded, always quiet, and Holly’s side drew attention with the noise.
"Ladies, is there anything dissatisfactory about our establishment?"
The waitress asked calmly with a professional smile.
"Sorry, we got a bit carried away in our conversation."
Rosalie’s tone was apologetic, offering an apology with an apologetic smile.
The waitress asked several times if everything was okay before leaving.
"Sorry, my mouth ran away from me."
Rosalie apologized to Holly, her lips wearing a bitter smile.
That sentence was thought deep down and simply spoken, knowing it was impossible.
Holly coldly chuckled, "Ha."
"Leo suddenly falling in love—I feel like my heart’s stopped."
Rosalie lowered her head, constantly keeping an eye on Leo since he arrived in Bexley.
She was used to no other women around Leo, and Holly’s appearance broke this rule—I guess she was the first girl to earn Leo’s gentleness.
"In this world, just because you like me, doesn’t mean I have to like you."
Holly chuckled lightly, speaking slowly.
In this world, things that fulfill both sides are not plentiful—it’s impossible you like me so I have to like you and we must be together.
That’s moral coercion.
Rosalie remained silent.
"You should learn to let go; three-legged grasshoppers are hard to find, but there are two-legged men everywhere, you’ll find someone suitable."
Holly fixed her gaze on Rosalie’s eyes, talking softly.
It’s advice but seemingly not.
"Saying it like this..."
"Thanks for the coffee, goodbye."
Rosalie didn’t finish before Holly interrupted her, looking at Rosalie for a moment and then left first.
Leaving Rosalie dazed at her seat.
Holly felt there was no need to continue talking.
——
Holly returned to the Grant Family home, opening the door to the rich aroma rushing over her—a whiff of homemade dishes.
The taste of home felt really good.
"Holly, you’re back?"
Mrs. Hayes was cooking in the kitchen, hearing the door, and peeking her head out with a smile.
"Yeah, Mrs. Hayes, what are you cooking? Smells great."
Holly sniffed the air with a sweet smile, peering into the kitchen, her voice soft.
"Sweet and sour ribs, eggplant with minced meat, stir-fried beef with green peppers..."
Mrs. Hayes casually listed a few homely dishes.
"So sumptuous."
Holly blinked, Mrs. Hayes’ cooking was particularly abundant—many were dishes she wanted to eat.
Mrs. Hayes said, "They’re all dishes you like, Holly."
She cooked those homely dishes for Holly, hoping to spoil the young girl’s taste to keep her tied to their young master.
To capture someone’s heart, you first capture their stomach—Leo had never been in the kitchen, naturally he wouldn’t know how to cook.
"Mrs. Hayes is so kind."
Holly beamed, Mrs. Hayes had always been kind to her, making her feel very happy.
"Mrs. Hayes just hopes you and the young master will be together forever."
Mrs. Hayes spoke slowly, her lips adorned with a kind smile.
Holly curled her lips into a gentle smile, "Certainly."
She also hoped to be with Leo for a long, long time.
Leo treated her really well now, truly an envy for many, and Holly hoped this goodness could last for a very long time.
She didn’t want a fast-food romance; she desired a love that lasted till old age.
