The Slime Doesn't Die from Mana Transfer

Chapter 65 : Subspace Creature

Chapter 65 : Subspace Creature

No probing. No pause.

Blinding white light burst forth underwater like a blazing sun.

Full firepower saturation strike!

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM—!!!

The dense barrage of Mana Cannons fell like a rain of annihilation. Each blast unleashed violent shockwaves, churning the reservoir into utter chaos.

Wherever the white light passed, tentacles disintegrated inch by inch.

Thick limbs were blasted into charred fragments, tough skin torn apart into shreds, and viscous blue blood evaporated in an instant.

When the final echoes of explosions faded into silence, nothing remained but devastation.

The murky water was filled with blackened flesh scraps and broken tentacle pieces, drifting downward. The core that had once been shielded by countless limbs was now exposed.

No—not entirely empty.

At the bottom of a crater gouged out by explosions, something remained.

A fist-sized tumor of flesh.

It was dark crimson, veined with thick pulsating vessels, throbbing like a heart with a dull, drum-like beat.

Russell had obliterated every tentacle. Only this tiny core remained.

Beneath it lay a skeletal frame, completely stripped of flesh, lying face-up at the bottom of the pool.

A silver sword pierced through both the tumor and the ribcage, pinning them firmly into the ground.

The sight was grotesque beyond words.

Russell glanced at the monster’s stats.

【HP: 5920/5920】

【MP: 5/29885】

Only 5 mana left. Not even enough to fuel basic regeneration.

Or so he thought.

Squelch! Squelch!

Two tiny crimson buds, like newborn snakes, suddenly sprouted from the tumor’s surface. They writhed violently, thickening at astonishing speed as black runic patterns crawled across their flesh.

Regeneration—had begun again!

Russell raised a hand and fired another 【Mana Cannon v8】.

BOOM!

When the blast faded, the newly grown tentacles had vanished.

But before he could relax, two more burst forth again, growing just as rapidly as before.

“What the hell?”

Russell muttered, dumbfounded.

He checked its status again.

【HP: 5920/5920】

【MP: 350/29885】

Its HP hadn’t moved.

And instead of consuming mana, regeneration had increased it?

No—that wasn’t right.

Its mana was recovering at an incredible rate.

Even faster than regeneration could consume.

Russell’s brows furrowed. This recovery rate was unnatural.

And even though he had controlled the blast earlier, the tumor should have taken some damage. Yet it remained untouched.

“Rozelite, step back a little.”

This was too strange. He couldn’t risk her. He had her retreat ten meters away, while he coiled a tentacle around her sword and thrust it into the fleshy core.

Stab!

There was slight resistance, but the blade pierced through easily.

Russell checked the stats again.

【HP: 5920/5920】

【MP: 560/29885】

Still no HP change.

And its mana continued to skyrocket.

Bizarre.

He slowly withdrew the sword.

Almost instantly, the puncture wound closed. Not simply healing—healing too fast to even see.

Russell began to understand.

Because this thing was a Subspace Creature, it seemed all attacks from this world simply couldn’t inflict real damage.

And its mana?

That too was explained.

It could draw mana directly from subspace. Even drained to zero, it would recover at a terrifying rate.

It wasn’t a skill. It wasn’t even a racial trait.

It was simply because it didn’t belong to this world. Even dragged here by some unknown reason, it couldn’t be killed so easily.

In this world, it was effectively a being without predators.

Against such an opponent, one could only suppress it with relentless force.

A terrifying existence.

Why was something so abnormal here?

Russell’s gaze fell on the skeleton beneath the tumor—and the silver sword that pinned both it and the bone chest into the reservoir floor.

Perhaps it was some forgotten tragedy from distant history.

But it had nothing to do with him.

Russell refocused on the tumor, its tentacles regenerating endlessly. Skills and spells alike would be meaningless here. Against a Subspace Creature, ordinary means were useless.

To think…

Its stats were already absurd, and on top of that, it was a mechanic boss.

But—

Russell’s tentacles shifted shape, wrapping tightly around the tumor.

【Insatiable lv∞】

The next moment—

The tumor that no attack could harm dissolved without resistance, scattering into motes of light.

Absorbed by Russell.

“I’ll never forget you, Tentacle Monster. Your mechanics were strong. But mine… are stronger.”

【MP: 977,570 → 1,000,000↑】

【Magic Resistance lv0 → lv7】

【Mana Reinforcement lv4 → lv6↑】

【Forced Seeding lv0 → lv6↑】

【Arousal lv0 → lv5↑】

【Symbiosis lv6 → lv8↑】

【Regeneration lv7 → lv8↑】

【Bind lv5 → lv6↑】

He could feel it.

The surge of power!

He was no longer just an ordinary slime—he was a super slime!

“Stats! That is the reason of kingship!”

Russell admired his panel with satisfaction. Despite the trouble, 【Symbiosis】 had finally reached lv8. Now, he could unlock many more possibilities.

He felt unstoppable.

Then his gaze turned to the silver sword.

Even as he’d bombarded the Tentacle Monster with Mana Cannons, it hadn’t moved. Only extended its limbs.

The cause was likely this sword.

Russell wrapped a tentacle around the hilt and pulled.

The silver blade didn’t budge.

“Heh. Interesting.”

He tried again.

【Mana Reinforcement lv6】

Still unmoving.

Russell froze.

Was it stuck that firmly?

Of course! That was why the monster hadn’t left its spot—the sword had nailed its core in place!

He checked for a status screen—

Nothing.

It wasn’t a creature.

Perhaps enchanted, but ultimately just a sword.

As Russell puzzled over it, Rozelite’s voice reached him.

“Mr. Slime, is something happening?”

She had been watching from afar, kept back in case the monster had some death-triggering mechanic.

“Rozelite, come here.”

“What is it, Mr. Slime?”

“Try pulling this sword out.”

After devouring the Tentacle Monster, Rozelite’s 【Mana Reinforcement】 had risen to lv6 as well.

With their reinforcements combined, her strength was far beyond before. It was worth a try.

Rozelite approached the skeleton and grasped the silver hilt with one hand.

“Alright,” Russell said seriously.

“On my mark, we’ll both pull together. Let’s try to—”

Clang!

The sword slid free.

Rozelite blinked at the blade in her hand, her expression awkward.

“Ah… sorry. Should I put it back?”

“…No need.”
