Chapter 941 - 956: Deep Regret Over Arguing With Li Manman
Upon hearing Tong Ze say this, Li Manman sensitively withdrew her hand from his palm. After all, she knew Tong Ze liked her, and she needed to be cautious to avoid misunderstandings.Tong Ze noticed Li Manman’s discomfort. Ever since he confessed to this girl, she had been deliberately keeping her distance. He wouldn’t be so reckless this time.
"Where’s my phone? I need to call my assistant."
"I’ll get it for you." Li Manman turned around, took the phone out of the drawer next to the hospital bed, and handed it to him.
Tong Ze took the phone and called his assistant, asking him to bring some daily necessities and a change of clothes to the hospital.
Han Xi, after dealing with some work matters, also arrived. Those two people by the door remained motionless on the long bench, and Han Xi shook his head at them before pushing the door open.
"You’re awake. Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"
"I’m fine, just a bit of pain at the wound."
Han Xi reached into the pocket of his white coat and walked to the bedside, "If the wound is too painful, I’ll prescribe you some painkillers."
"Why don’t you go ahead and prescribe some? I just saw that he’s in quite a bit of pain." Li Manman was a little worried that Tong Ze couldn’t handle it.
"Alright, I’ll get the medication now. Oh, by the way, Sister Zhang has finished making the chicken soup and is on her way to the hospital."
"Okay, got it." Li Manman nodded towards Han Xi.
As Han Xi opened the door, the two people outside saw Tong Ze was awake and barged in, ignoring Han Xi’s attempt to stop them.
"What exactly do you want? The patient needs rest," Han Xi said with an annoyed tone.
The girl’s mother walked to the bedside, speaking tearfully, "Sir, I know my daughter was wrong. She shouldn’t have impulsively stabbed you. Could you forgive her considering her young age and not press charges?"
Li Manman’s face darkened as she stood up from the chair, "Why? Does being young mean you don’t have to take responsibility for your mistakes? Could I stab you once and then nonchalantly say sorry, is that okay?"
Before the woman could speak, Li Manman sharply continued, "Have you once inquired about the patient’s condition? All you’ve talked about is not suing your daughter—what happened to the tantrum you threw earlier?"
Seeing Li Manman defending him like this, Tong Ze’s lips curled into a faint smile.
The girl’s mother didn’t argue further with Li Manman but instead looked at Tong Ze apologetically, "We’ll cover your medical and hospital expenses. I’ve just given this young lady a card, and if it doesn’t cover all the costs, we will pay more. But please, I beg you, don’t accuse my daughter."
Earlier they had been whispering together in the corridor for a long time, regretting their clash with Li Manman. They realized that doing so wouldn’t help their daughter and might even send her to jail.
So now, despite Li Manman’s bad attitude, the woman quietly listened, not showing any intention of retorting.
"Manman, are you thinking of suing?" Tong Ze weakly asked Li Manman.
"Of course, we should sue. You didn’t see how unreasonable she was. We don’t even know her daughter, so why should we be unjustly stabbed?"
The girl’s mother approached Li Manman, pulling her arm, and her attitude dramatically shifted, "Young lady, it was all my fault earlier. I was just too anxious and shouldn’t have spoken so abruptly. You absolutely cannot sue my daughter."
