Chapter 940 - 955: Pain Is Completely Normal
"They gave me a card, and later when they heard that I was going to sue their daughter, they said I took the money and then turned against them. How can there be such irrational people?"Han Xi was speechless too. Initially, he felt quite sympathetic towards the elderly couple, but now, hearing what Li Manman said, he just felt that this whole family was too much.
Li Manman wiped her hands with a towel: "Let’s go, let’s check on Tong Ze in the ward."
The two of them left the treatment room together and went to the ward. When they pushed the door open and walked in, Tong Ze hadn’t woken up yet, but the couple was sitting on the sofa simultaneously.
"Who let you in? Get out now," Li Manman looked at them sharply and said.
"Unless you promise not to sue our daughter, I won’t leave."
Li Manman crossed her arms and looked at them, feeling that they were latching onto her: "Playing rogue won’t work here. If you don’t want to end up at the police station, then disappear from my sight immediately."
The girl’s mother stood up from the sofa and glanced at Tong Ze lying on the hospital bed: "I won’t talk to you. I’ll speak with him when he wakes up."
Han Xi leaned over the table, picked up the remote, adjusted the air conditioning a little higher, then walked over to the middle-aged woman: "Please step outside for a moment. Let’s discuss any matters after the patient wakes up."
"Who are you to tell me to leave? Being a doctor makes you special? Careful, I might file a complaint against you," the woman retorted disdainfully.
Han Xi looked at her with a darkened expression, and his tone was no longer as polite as before: "As the patient’s family member, I ask you to leave immediately. If you continue to cause trouble here, we’ll have no choice but to call security or the police."
The girl’s father stood up from the sofa: "Anyway, they’re here. Let’s wait outside."
The middle-aged woman said nothing else, nodded, and left.
Watching the door of the ward close, Li Manman sat down on the sofa: "How did we encounter such a bizarre family?"
"They truly are unusual," Han Xi glanced at his wristwatch: "I’ll go back to the office to get my phone and call Sister Zhang, ask her to prepare some chicken soup and bring it over."
Li Manman nodded: "Okay, go ahead."
Outside the door, the couple sat on the bench like gate gods. Han Xi walked out of the ward, glanced at them with a slightly cold gaze, and got into the elevator.
Not long after Han Xi left, Tong Ze woke up. Li Manman quickly moved to the bedside: "You’re awake. Is the wound very painful? Do you want some water?"
"I’m fine. How’s the wound on your neck?"
Tong Ze looked worriedly at the white gauze on Li Manman’s neck, but his voice sounded very weak.
Li Manman pulled a chair over and sat down, smiling and shaking her head: "It’s just a superficial wound. Xiao Xi has already treated it for me. Would you like some water?"
"No need."
The anesthesia had worn off Tong Ze’s body, and the wound was particularly painful, causing a slight furrow between his brows.
"Is the wound hurting? I’ll go get Xiao Xi."
Li Manman was about to stand up and leave when Tong Ze grabbed her wrist: "It’s okay. The pain is normal since the anesthesia has worn off."
"I’m sorry. If it weren’t for saving me, you wouldn’t be hurt."
"I did it willingly. Watching you get hurt would probably hurt me more than this, so there’s no need for you to apologize."
