The Reborn Demon King Girl

Chapter 311 - 1: The Girl Who Came to the Tavern

Chapter 311 - 1: The Girl Who Came to the Tavern

In the town’s tavern, there was a man with a certain male charm. He seemed to be about thirty-one or two, and though he didn’t have youthful vigor, his dark eyes always appeared incredibly deep.

"Modoh, do you really plan to hang around this town your whole life?"

Modoh glanced at his boss, flashing a charming smile: "Boss, do you think there’s something wrong with our town?"

"But— with someone like you here, it’s such a pity..." The owner, who also seemed to be around thirty, stared at Modoh. "I mean, if you really don’t want to leave this town, why don’t the two of us just make do together? After all, we’ve known each other since childhood, and I’ve supported you all these years."

Modoh chuckled: "Let’s not go there, boss. You make it sound like I’m not working hard. Where else would you find such a reliable employee like me?"

"...You’re still young now; the girls in town quite like you. When you get old and gray, you’ll understand loneliness."

"Isn’t that many years away?"

Modoh seemed completely unconcerned...

"Jillian. You’re chasing after Modoh again. He doesn’t fancy you, why not consider us instead?"

"Get lost! You drunken fools! Go home to your hags!"

The tavern erupted with joyous laughter.

And then, the tavern doors suddenly swung open.

A girl appeared in the doorway.

With long golden hair and a petite frame, she carried a sword almost as tall as she was, wearing not overly glamorous but clearly valuable adventurer’s leather armor, stepped into the tavern.

Her gaze was sharp as a sword.

The people in the tavern weren’t fools. Just the sight of the sword on her back was intimidating enough. After giving her a glance, people quickly diverted their eyes. She was not someone to be trifled with.

Modoh looked at the girl and, as a staff member, naturally walked over: "Hello, dear lady, may I help you with anything?"

The girl stared straight at Modoh’s somewhat handsome and charming face, for quite a while.

Her gaze gradually fell upon the two of them, and amidst the curious eyes around, Modoh asked once more: "Miss, may I help you with anything?"

"I want a glass of orange juice."

The tavern owner, Jillian, came over at this time: "Miss, this is a tavern, we don’t sell..."

Modoh quickly interjected: "Orange juice, right? Alright, I’ll make it for you right away, please find a seat and wait a moment."

Jillian widened her eyes, looking at Modoh incredulously. I’m the boss; how come I don’t know we sell orange juice here? What’s going on with you?

Jillian immediately widened her eyes and looked at the girl who just walked in.

Admittedly very cute, but you Modoh have met plenty of cute girls these years, and this one doesn’t seem particularly easygoing.

In her dilemma, Jillian ultimately said nothing. If it had to be orange juice, they actually had some.

However, it was usually used as an ingredient in cocktails, allowing for higher prices. Using it to make straight orange juice wasn’t impossible, but the key was they didn’t originally sell it.

When Modoh went to the kitchen, Jillian followed: "What’s up with you, you like girls like that?"

"Boss, you’re getting a bit agitated, didn’t you notice the sword on her back?"

"I saw it. Isn’t she just an adventurer?"

Modoh sighed: "That sword is made of Imperial Heaven Gold; the density of that metal is hundreds of times that of normal metals... Did you see any movement carrying it on her back?"

"What?"

Jillian was taken aback.

"That’s no mere hundreds or thousands of pounds. Even a strong adventurer would appear heavy walking with it. Did it look heavy on her back?" Modoh explained outright, "Then go out and take a closer look, see if she’s truly sitting on the chair or if she’s just in a seating position without her backside actually touching the bench."

"!"

Could such a thing be true!

Jillian skeptically went out for a look.

When Modoh finished making the orange juice, Jillian returned.

"How was it, boss?"

"You’re right, she’s not someone I can mess with."

Modoh placed the orange juice on a tray, brought it out, and set it before the girl.

"Enjoy, dear lady."

The girl peered at the orange juice in bewilderment: "I just wanted orange juice, what’s this?"

The glass of orange juice was not just ordinary orange juice; it had ice cubes in it, as well as some cute chocolate-like candies cut into different shapes as decorations.

"For a cute lady, it naturally deserves such garnishes."

The girl stared at him: "I don’t need these."

Modoh smiled: "But I know, you like these things."

"..."

The girl accepted the orange juice, casting a slightly suspicious glance at Modoh, appearing a bit cautious but still taking a sip.

"It tastes pretty good~"

After all, I added honey and sugar...

The girl loved sweet things, Modoh knew this very well.

"Do you need anything else? Feel free to place an order, I’ll do my best to fulfill it."

"No need, you can go about your business."

Modoh nodded and resumed his usual work.

But the girl never left.

She drank her orange juice very slowly, even slower than those scoundrels who drank strong liquor.
