Chapter 996: Suspicious Move in the Palace

We’re at a meeting today after last night, the Vampire King decided to not join us. Though he said that he’s willing to help in case he found something. I already gave him a way so that he could communicate with us.

I let him stay in the Monsters Village for a while before they left on their own. I feel like he’s a good king, so it’s best if he received a proper farewell from his subordinates. Though his subordinates are now parts of us. They decided to follow Arin and are now trying their best to grow stronger.

It might just be ten additional members. But those ten are vampires. I already know how strong they can become if they trained properly.

Since they’re staying in the Monsters Village, they will receive greetings from the werewolves and other monsters. In the form of battle. And they will grow stronger faster.

I told Arin that if they decided to leave or just stay in the village without fighting, they’re free to do so. I don’t want to force them to fight.

In the meeting, I told everyone about what we got from the vampires. The captured vampires were killed because they had no more information to give us. Though it was the Vampire King who killed them.

"So, the cult might have let some monsters roam free and infiltrate a tribe of monster and destroy them from within? Now it has become more annoying," Fabio said.

"It is. It means that in a tribe of monsters, there’s a possibility of the cult’s influence. A monster tribe alone usually already hostile toward humans. But if the cult has influenced them, then they could be more dangerous. Thanks to Arin, we found a group of Vampires. But who knows if there’s other tribe of monsters that we have to be careful of? Not just in Monsters World. But also here on Earth," Albert said.

"More importantly, it’s about the new information we received from Roy last night from the vampires he captured. Seems like we found some bases of the cult. And two of them are in huge cities. One in Tatrama and another in Arturo. Seems like we will have another mission soon," Fabio said.

That’s what we got from the vampires last night. We found several bases. And most of them were in Tatrama because this is where the other Vampire King met someone from the cult first. Then there are other bases in other country as well.

"We have sent some agents to follow the vampires who left yesterday morning, right? Let’s contact them and see if where they’re going is anywhere near the places we got from last night’s report. Also, we only found most of them only in Tatrama. There should be more in other countries," Albert said.

"And some of the vampires were someone’s familiars, right? They must have reported what happened last night to their master before they got captured. So there’s a chance that they learned that we have discovered them and they’re going to escape somewhere. Is there any agents in any of the places that were mentioned?" old man Henry asked.

"There were some. But some of the locations have been investigated for so long. I guess they’re just that good at hiding. I’ll tell them to investigate more," Albert said.

The Kings were discussing about the places that was mentioned. And they also try to find out the similarities with other places so they could find more of the cult’s bases without having to wait until we captured someone again.

And soon after, someone entered the room with a report from the agents who were placed to watch the escaping vampires.

"There were five escaping vampires. They formed three groups of two, two, and one. The one vampire was just a distraction as he didn’t have anywhere to go and just in case someone was following them. We managed to capture them. The other two groups were heading to different locations. One went to a city that was mentioned in the report, and another group was about to reach a village that was not mentioned."

So there’s still a place that the other Vampire King didn’t tell me. Or maybe he didn’t even know about that place or that group was going there to refill their needs of blood.

In any case, that village will also need to be investigated.

Apparently, the agents captured those vampires before they entered the city or the village. They were quickly got the collars wrapped around their neck before the agents retreated quickly.

After some questioning, we got new information. But they’re not as important as what we learned last night.

At least they got their main goal. To not make those vampires reach another city or village.

"Should I bring them here?" I asked.

"Just put the vampires in prison. As for the agents, tell them that they can go home and they will need to prepare for another mission. Of course you will be the one to bring them home," Albert said.

And so I did as I was told. I brought the agents back home and the vampires to the prison.

Seems like the agents waited until the vampires had spent a lot of blood before they captured them. That’s why the vampires had no power after they got their neck wrapped with a collar. Just a normal expert level mage is enough to stop them from moving without using any magic.

I returned back to the meeting. Seems like the Kings have agreed on our next move.

"We will investigate those places while also sending agents to look for another tribe of monster in case they’re related to the cult. Roy, prepare to move when needed," Albert said.

I guess they won’t tell me to make a move yet. They wanted to see if their master level mages were as strong as expected. They didn’t even tell me that my monsters will be needed.

We have a lot of master level mages now. Not as many as the cult’s, but we have quality over quantity. Now what we need is for our master level mages to gain more experience on how to use their magic in battle.

"If you find another base of the cult, let my monsters take care of them. Seems like they can’t wait until we started another battle. If I let them stay in the village and just play tag again and again, they will be too stressed. Let them fight if you have the chance," I said.

"Okay. I’ll consider it next time. What about the agents in Monsters World?" Albert asked.

He’s asking about the agents who stayed in the village to get to know more about the monsters there whom they will bring for the mission of traveling the Monsters World to find the cult’s base there.

"One group has left the village. They have found someone with good chemistry. The other three were still trying to cooperate together and see how well the monsters they picked in carrying orders first. My guess is that they will leave the village within one week," I said.

The one who have left should be going to where Arin’s castle was. That’s why I told the Vampire King that in case he met another human in that world, he needed to ask them first about who they were before making any action.

"One week, huh? That’s faster than expected. I guess the monsters in the village are smart now," Harold said. He’s here accompanying Fabio since Toni was busy.

"I told them to be careful for monsters as well because of what happened. Though I’m sure they will be fine. The monsters in the village are all stronger than average monsters. They can protect the agents if necessary. Though the agents are pretty strong as well," I said.

I guess the meeting is over now. So I brought the kings back to their home before returning to Tatrama and had dinner with my siblings.

This is actually the first time we had dinner as family. Though they did it every day. And they just added me, so there’s not much different than usual.

Even more, I’m already so close with them. So there’s no awkward moment at all as we just chatted like usual.

But as we finished our meal, I found out something was wrong in this palace. And Albert quickly noticed it from just my expression.

"Marie, take the kids to their room," Albert said.

"No. It’s best if you’re within my reach. I also don’t know yet what’s going on. It’s just that something feel wrong," I said.

It’s just a family dinner, so Mustache is not here. Especially since Shirley is already a master level mage, and I’m here as well. So his presence was not necessary.

But I feel something weird in the palace. So I told Albert to get Mustache here before I can tell what’s going on.

What I found is that there are two maids in this palace who have weird expression on their faces. They look scared. Afraid of something.

Albert might only hire servants that can be trusted. But in the end, they’re also humans. And they can be threatened.

Still, I can’t believe that the palace was infiltrated like this. I guess it’s good that I had dinner here.
