Chapter 994: Interrogating the Vampires
Chapter 994: Interrogating the Vampires
The Vampire King and all the vampires here other than the ones I brought, have the collar around their neck. They willingly put them on so we can ask them some questions.
As for the keys, we have them. No way we’re letting them put on the collar only for them to remove it themselves.
"Has everyone put their collar on?" I asked. Even though I could see everything with my Divine Vision.
"Yes," the Vampire King said.
"That’s good. I also had enough of being treated as a retarded centaur. Wait, I should have brought my clothes here. Whatever, I’ll just take one right now with a portal," I said.
I forgot to bring my clothes. And it seems like Victoria had enough of covering my lower body. So I grabbed my own clothes from home using a portal. I always have some ready next to a Blobby so I can get changed as fast as possible.
I have some sets. And one of them is my costume as Clarence. Just in case there’s e need for emergency clown situation. Though I have never encountered such situation. But it’s not like a situation like that won’t happen.
...It will happen, right? I truly wish for it to happen.
"He’s a human! The retarded centaur is a retarded human!" one of the vampires who was still loyal to the Vampire King shouted.
"Just so you know, I was just acting when I was retarded. I’m not actually retarded. As the proof, none of you noticed that I’m a human until now," I said.
By this time, one by one, the vampires we defeated came to. Including the other Vampire King.
"So, all the things you said, it’s also because you know that he’s a human? You actually needed the help of a human?" the other Vampire King asked the original Vampire King.
"I didn’t ask for his help. I asked the help of the Vampire Queen and the centaurs to determine who else the traitor is. I never thought that there will be too many," the Vampire King said.
I just ignored them. They have no more power to fight. The ones who got captured had spent a lot of blood in the fight. Including the other Vampire King. So they shouldn’t be able to rip off the collar on their neck by themselves.
Also, we have restrained them with ropes. So it’s not like they can move.
The two Vampire Kings were shouting at each other. Like how the original Vampire asked my help to fight. But the original Vampire King keeps denying all that because he never really asked for my help. He was just asking the help of Arin and the others. I was just there to watch.
"Arin, take care of this. This is your mission after all," I said to Arin.
"Okay," Arin said.
Arin casually walked to the two Vampire Kings who were arguing. The two of them stopped arguing. But that’s only for a moment before the other Vampire King started shouting at her.
"You! It’s your fault to come here!" he shouted.
"No. It’s your fault for being weak. I was just followed the strong," Arin said.
Is that so? I thought that she’s here because she loves humans’ culture.
Maybe she’s actually saying something like she joined the battle because she’s following me. In that case, then I feel glad.
I used to think of Arin and the other vampires as convenience and good soldiers. I know that they obeyed my order. But I thought it was only because of the reward.
...Maybe that’s still the case. Though it’s not wrong that I’m stronger than her and she follows me.
I hope it’s not because my blood damaging her brain and she started speaking nonsense.
Arin started asking the original Vampire King and those who were loyal to him questions. Like if there’s any one else among them who is related to the cult or agree with the cult’s goal to destroy the world.
Several questions were asked. And we found them to be innocent. I mean not related to the cult or even know what they were until last night. They’re still guilty to capturing some humans and kill them. Not that I care though.
Because I saw the corpses of the people there. There was no children’s corpse at all. While the closest village should have some children.
This means that they never targeted children. Only adults.
Maybe it’s their taste. Or whatever it is, it’s good that they didn’t target children. So now if they willing to join us, I don’t mind.
"Here are the keys. None of you were with the cult. I don’t think you like to wear those collars any longer than this," Arin said as she ordered one of her vampires to give the Vampire King the keys to the collars.
We can just take them off. But instead, we gave them the keys so they can take them off on their own. It’s to let them know that we mean no harm.
It’s not like they already trusted us. We came here and recognized traitors among them. I don’t think they trusted us. So it’s best to keep our distance for now.
"Now it’s your turn," Arin said to the other Vampire King.
"I won’t tell you anything no matter what you do!" the other Vampire King said.
"Oh, he said the truth," one of the centaur said after hearing what the other Vampire King said.
Seriously? There’s nothing we can do to make him talk?
"Only for now. If there’s a need to, I have a way to make you talk," Arin said.
She ignored the other Vampire King and started asking other vampires who followed him. Just asked if there’s a way to make them talk.
We gained a bit from those who talked. But they were mostly influenced by the other Vampire King or coerced to join them. So we didn’t gain much as they were the vampires who know nothing about the cult.
The good thing is that all the female vampires were among them. Those who were forced or know nothing and just tagging along with the other Vampire King.
"Then, I guess I have to use it," Arin said before she looked at me.
"Alright, everyone! Come to this side. Especially if you’re a male," I said.
I know that Arin is thinking of using her charm magic on them. So I brought the vampires who are safe to my side. As for the male vampires who know nothing about the cult, I lifted them up and brought them to this side as well. I also carried the captured female vampires as well.
Hearing that I said especially to a male, the Vampire King’s wife understood it. And she chose to stay over there.
After getting everyone to my side, I covered the wall with Victoria. This way, no male would be affected by Arin’s charm.
I didn’t even dare to use my Divine Vision. So I only told Victoria to watch if she’s done charming the male vampires.
After a while, Victoria said that it’s safe. Then the wall opened. And everyone can see that the captured male vampires were all looking at Arin as if they want to pounce at her.
"This... is scarier than I expected," the Vampire King said.
"You have a wife. That’s why I brought you here," I said.
Arin then asked the other Vampire King again if he’s going to tell her anything.
"Anything for you! I will tell you whatever you want to know!" the other Vampire King said.
"...He’s speaking the truth," a centaur said.
The guy who said that he won’t say anything is now willing to say anything. Charm magic is scary.
"What about the others? Will you tell me anything I asked?" Arin asked the other vampires.
"I will!"
"No, just ask me! I know a lot!"
"Ask me anything! I don’t know much about the cult, but I just want you to come here and ask me anything!"
Okay, the last one is a weird guy. Though all vampires whom I have met and have been charmed by Arin before were all like that. So I guess this was to be expected. Though they’re all dead now.
Now, the real interrogation begins.
Arin didn’t handle the interrogation herself. She lets the vampires and centaurs to be the one asking. She even let the Vampire King asks questions.
The only thing she did was just telling all those charmed vampires to tell the truth to anyone in this room who asked them anything.
Just like that, and the interrogation proceeded so smoothly.
"Should I ask you to charm the men the next time we captured more people?" I asked Arin.
"For some reason, it doesn’t work on master level mages. I have tried it before. But if it’s anyone lower than master level, then you can ask me. As long as you give me the reward," Arin said.
And the reward is obviously my blood. As long as we can gain something, then it’s fine.
"You’re not really following me because I’m strong, right?" I asked Arin.
"I followed you because I want to," she said.
She then approached the Vampire King to chat with him. Then a centaur approached me and tapped my shoulder.
"She didn’t lie, brother," he said.
"I’m not your brother. And I don’t need anyone to tell me if it was a lie or not," I said.
