Chapter 989: Invited by the Vampire King

Chapter 989: Invited by the Vampire King

After returning home, I immediately went to Arin’s location and asked her what she’s intend to do with the Vampire King.

"For now, it’s best for them to think that the enemy is the cult and not all humans. Because of those traitors, they must be discussing about whether they will join us in destroying the cult or not. And someone who refused it could be seen as another traitor. If the Vampire King is smart enough, he should know that. Also, if some of them left before we meet him tomorrow night, those vampires might be with the cult. Why don’t you send some people to watch the castle and track anyone who left in a hurry?" Arin suggested.

...Is she a genius? She’s way too smart.

"I’ll talk to Albert right away," I said as I was about to call Albert.

"Oh, and it’s best if you make a move. Meet the Vampire King himself and show him your strength and your goal. That might persuade him to join us tomorrow," Arin said.

Not only she thought of the plan by herself, she also planned to use me to persuade the Vampire King. Maybe I should put her at the same level as Kayla and the other smart people.

I then contacted Albert and meet him right away. He told me several agents including one master level mage who is ready to move at any time. So I brought those people back before taking them to near the mountain where the castle was under renovation.

"If you find anyone leaving that castle, follow them. We might find some clues about the cult’s main base if you follow them," I said before I return back home.

Next would be for me to meet the Vampire King by myself. Though I think it’s best to bring some centaurs here first.

After talking with the centaurs, I brought back three of the strongest centaurs. Just in case it ended up in a fight.

After resting for a bit, I was ready to meet the Vampire King. But there’s one more thing I need to bring.

"Arin. Give me the blood bags that you didn’t give to the Vampire King and his subordinates last night. I’ll use that for negotiation," I said.

"..."

Arin didn’t answer right away. Only then I noticed why she was so smart last night.

"So, you made that entire plan just so you can keep the blood bags for yourself? You’re only smart when there’s a reward?" I asked.

"There’s nothing wrong with it," she said.

"You’re right. But I need something to persuade the Vampire King. And my blood is the best choice. I can’t just make him drink my blood directly because I can’t trust him yet. So I need that blood bag. How about this? If you give me that bag, I’ll let you drink the same amount of blood in that bag from me directly," I suggested.

"Give me a second."

She quickly returned to her room where there’s a fridge for the blood bags she has. There were not much of them. And they’re all my blood.

She quickly grabbed one of them and returned back to me quickly.

"Then I’ll drink your blood right away," she said.

"Right now? No, not right now. If the negotiation tonight is a success, then I’ll let you drink more after that. Is that clear?" I asked.

"Very clear, Master! I’ll do as you say!" Arin said.

"...I’m not your master though," I said.

"Even without a contract, I already thought of you as my master! Because you gave me your blood many times. I will do whatever you want me to do!" she said.

"...Only if I reward you, right? I understand. I’ll go meet the Vampire King now. Victoria, let’s go," I said.

Since this time I’m doing it on my own, I brought Victoria with me. She always has weird ideas that sometime could be useful.

I opened up a portal back to where I brought the agents to before.

The agents should be nearby hiding. But the fact that they were not there anymore can only mean that they found someone who left the castle and followed them.

I didn’t tell them to inform me if anything happened. They will only contact me when it’s really important. Like if they have found where the vampires were heading to or they’re in mortal dangers.

But they’re all strong. One of them is even a master level mage. Though it means that if they’re in danger, then it’s really an emergency.

Now, I just need to sneak into the castle.

All the vampires were resting now. It’s because before Arin and the other vampires left last night, she told them that they can relax for the day and she will ask some people to protect this place. This way, those who were disturbed by the betrayal of the three vampires and got their friends or family died because of those three can stay in the castle.

Everyone was thinking about Arin’s suggestion. Maybe. I don’t know since I can’t read people’s mind. But it looks like that way from looking at their expression.

The Vampire King had just buried his son who died because of the rabid vampire last night. And from the look of it, no one seems to be interested with other things. None of them seem to realize that the humans they have captured had been gone.

By the way, I already got some people to spy on the village where I brought those humans to. Though I don’t think I need to do it since they were so weak.

I don’t have to go into the castle and meet the Vampire King there. I can just wait for him outside.

I look for a good place to meet him. Then, I used Divine Vision to look at him from afar. And he quickly noticed it when I used my Divine Vision to see his face.

He looked toward my direction before he said something to another vampire nearby. Then he left on his own.

It didn’t take long until he reached where I was. And with visible anger on his face, he’s ready to pounce me right away. But he didn’t do it.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"A friend of the Vampire Queen," I said.

"What do you want?" he asked again.

"There are several things I want from you. Most of them are answers. I can easily bring a centaur with me here to see if you answer honestly or not. But I’ll leave that to the Vampire Queen when she meets you tonight. For now, I’m just going to observe," I said.

"Is that so? So, you’re not an enemy?" the Vampire King asked.

"Depend on where you stand. Even if you’re against the cult, if you think that all humans are your enemy, then I’m your enemy. So, what’s your answer?" I asked.

"...I personally never thought of all humans being bad. I just wanted everyone under me to think that we have a common enemy. That will unite us and make us stronger. I never really wanted to have a war against human," he said.

"To be honest, I don’t care about how you’re feeling. And whatever I ask you today is not important. Because I can’t see the truth or the lies unlike centaurs. I don’t care about your past of why you decided to make humans as your enemy. I just want to know what you will do now after you realize that there are some vampires who can’t be trusted. You might have killed three of them. But that’s not everyone. I watched everything last night, so I can tell that you’re a decent leader for your kind. So I’m sure you know that there are still traitors among you, right?" I asked.

"...What do you think I should do?" he asked me.

"I don’t know. I was never a good leader. But I am strong enough and have friends I can trust. If it’s me, then I will eliminate the traitors before they do anything. My friends can find them while I can kill them. The Vampire Queen told you about the human who killed another Vampire King, right? That was me," I said.

"...How did you know about what happened last night? I don’t think it’s because she told you everything. You said it as if you saw everything. Were you there last night?" he asked.

"I was in the place where you store the corpses of dead humans in front of your prisoners. If you checked that place, you will see that there are no more humans there. Sorry, but I freed them all," I said.

There’s also something I need to ask him about. The material for the prison bars. Where they got them from, I need to know.

"...Seems like we have a lot to talk about. If she asks me later tonight, I will answer again. So if you don’t mind, how about we have a nice talk in my place?"

"I don’t mind. But if there’s any vampire who attacked me, I will kill them. Only those who I think could be a threat to me. Most of them were weak after what I saw last night. So I don’t think you need to worry," I said.

"...I’ll still tell them to not attack you. Or if possible, can you sneak into the castle by yourself? We will talk in the room where the Vampire Queen and I met last night," he suggested.

"I’ll do that then. I’ll wait for you there," I said.

I’m sure he wouldn’t imagine that I would get there first. But I did anyway. I’m much faster than him. And because there were no more humans in his prison, he couldn’t waste more blood than necessary.

Now, what are we going to talk?
