Chapter 977: Arriving at the Destination
Chapter 977: Arriving at the Destination
"This way," I said to the other hunters.
Some of us at the front, including me, were riding horses. Others were on a horse carriage behind us. And some other move on foot. Because we don’t have enough horses for everyone.
By the way, the two spies were flying. The wind mage is carrying... that other guy I met the first time. I already forget his name.
Though there were other wind mages. But they were smart enough to not spend mana for travel. They will start using magic during the fight against the orcs.
As for those two, they didn’t seem to care about the mission. They just followed me from above. Though if it’s them, they should have known where the location of the orc’s nest was. After all, they left me behind there.
By the way, although all the horses here look normal, some of them were actually horse monsters. The ones that followed Ray back in the Monsters World and willingly came here to help us humans.
Not all of them. Just some. But they look like normal horses when some of them can actually fly.
In fact, some were actually pegasus. But they can somehow retract their wings at will like Graham and the angels. Seems like the horses have evolved to the point where they can do that. Amazing.
My horse is normal though. Not a horse monster of whatever kind it is. I didn’t even bring Ray with me since the cult spies will be suspicious of him.
If I ride a dark horse with smoke-like mane and tail, that won’t be any different than telling the cult that I’m the Aura user. So I still didn’t bring Ray with me.
"Robby, how big is the nest?" someone next to me asked.
"It’s about the size of a city. It’s huge," I said.
"Then we will do it according to the plan. You will lead us there. And when we’re close enough, we will split up into groups," he said.
I don’t remember his name. But I know that he’s the one who got picked to be the leader in charge of this mission by the guild master.
"We’re going up that hill. From there, we could see the orc’s nest easily and judge how huge it is. And we will start the mission from there," I said.
"Okay. The groups will surround the nest to make sure that there’s no orcs escape from that place. You and the support group will stay on the hill while the rest of us make our move," he said.
That’s the strategy that the guild master planned for us. It’s easy to understand. Though my job will be to watch over the spies and the hiding master level earth mage.
If that master level earth mage truly thinking of ambushing us and will try to kill us, then I have to make sure to kill her in an instant. Without giving her a chance to even send telepathic message if she’s a summoner.
As for the other two spies, I just hope that they’re far from where I will kill the master level earth mage. And the other agents will took care of them.
Though they are flying. It should be difficult, right?
Well, not really.
Among the actors who acted in the city, there are some who played as an organized criminal group. And over the past few days that the spies have been living there, even before they tried to sacrifice me, the fake citizens of the city has made various fake claims that those two did something horrible and angered the leader of the organized criminal group.
I heard that it was something simple. Like those two entered a gambling house and winning more than needed before they tried to leave me to death. Which means that the money that they won have been stolen since they chose to stay in a cheap inn.
Because they won too much for the gambling house, the organized criminal group started hunting them down. And they’re using this chance to kill them.
That’s the story of how they die. Some members of the gang were hunters who were hired to kill those two. This way, even if those two can send telepathic message, it won’t be about something like the Aura user was here. It will be more like the citizens of the city were crazy and they got killed by a gang member.
Well, I will leave them to the others. For now, I will focus on my own mission.
"There. From over there, we can see the orc’s nest clearly," I said with my finger pointed the top of the hill.
We can see a lot of the nest from there. And I too, can see everything. Including where the master level earth mage was hiding.
She’s not alone, unfortunately. She was with a few other mages. I assume that they’re master level mages that they brought here to get rid of us. The master level earth mage hid them under the ground with her. With some self-made ventilation to the surface so they can breathe. Seems like there’s no air mage among them.
One, two, three, four, and five. There are five of them hiding in the same spot. Right under the middle of the nest. Seems like they’re going to give us a surprise.
Five of them, huh? Seems like I can’t hide my identity.
I told this to Graham and Crabbe.
Soon after, I can see almost everyone reached their hand into their pocket. They must be receiving some kind of order from the receptionist of what to do.
Good thing we’re far from the master level mages. They won’t be able to tell that we’re contacting other people using an amazing device.
’Master, reinforcement will come. That girl said the guild is asking for reinforcement from other cities. Which will include five master level mages. they are coming to your location as quick as possible,’ Graham informed me via telepathy.
Five of them? Then, doesn’t it mean that there’s never a need for me to kill anyone and I can continue acting as Robby? Why did she said that I need to kill someone in an instant then?
In any case, everything should be fine with five master level mages. We could even arrest these people without actually killing them.
So, we need to stall for time until they arrive. And I got a text from one of the leader of this orcs extermination mission to discuss about the plan again before we move.
At the top of the hill, overlooking the nest, we stopped and discussed about the mission again.
"I don’t know why we need to be so thorough. They’re just orcs. There’s no need to delay this for much longer," one of the spies said after we took longer time than necessary to discuss about the plan.
"Really? They’re just orcs? Then why did you try to run away while sacrificing him when you can just fly away? Do you have some kind of grudge against that alcoholic guy? Why don’t you tell me how strong you are, and why you felt that they’re strong enough to kill you so you had to sacrifice someone?" the leader asked.
The spies shut up after hearing what he said.
Well, that’s true. They are stupid. Why is the cult sending these two to spy on me? They can find someone smarter, right?
"If only I didn’t lose a bet and just stay to cultivate. Then I won’t have to get into this trouble," the guy who shot Fireball at me said in low volume.
"Shh! Don’t say anything stupid! We don’t know who is listening here! Just be patient. Soon enough, they will all die," the wind mage scolded the guy. Though he was the one who said that our enemies were just orcs.
They spoke in a really low volume that only I barely managed to hear them. They are really from the cult. Coming here to spy on me.
And seems like they have no plan to spare us. Those master level mages might even attack us as soon as we get close to the nest.
After stalling for enough time, we were already split in group and just about to move when reinforcement arrived. There are about ten of them.
"We’re here after a messenger bird come to the guild. Tell us what we need to know. We will help you," one of them said.
The leader then come and talk to them. Then those ten people just stayed here with me as the support. Though they should be the strongest mages here. After me, obviously. I have been a master level summoner longer than any of them.
"Then, we will depart now. We will attack in fifteen minutes after everyone is in position. Let’s go!"
And now, we wait. I’m just looking over the nest from this hill together with some master level mages.
"Is everyone here can be trusted?" I asked the guy who acted like the leader of the reinforcement group in whisper. Because I’m being cautious in case some of them were spies.
"Yes. We’re all agents from Consenza," he replied politely.
"Good. Once everyone surrounded the nest, you can move to surprise the enemy. For now, be on standby," I said.
Let’s get this over with as soon as possible.
