Chapter 950: Running Back Home

"Roy, what kind of training will you do? I thought that your physical abilities have reached maximum. I don’t think you can get any stronger. Is it a new technique?" Victoria asked.

We’re back in Melk after I finished bringing everyone to the Spirit Mountain. Now I’m alone in the hotel. Even Oleg joined the training.

They won’t just cultivate. The Spirit King also prepared a piece of land over there so they can have a spar and see how strong they are. I’m sure that even if they couldn’t reach master level, they will be stronger.

Well, I’ll meet them at least once a week to bring in supply. Though even if I didn’t, it’s not like they’re not allowed to leave the mountain. They can probably look for their own food. But it’s best if they focused on getting stronger. I’ll handle the food.

Now that I have decided to grow stronger, Victoria asked me what I was going to do. And I... haven’t prepared about what I want to do at all other than wanting to get stronger.

"Hmm... I don’t think there’s any new technique that I need to learn to improve myself. The enemies are mages. Even those who have stronger bodies were still weaker than me unless they have weapons made of Etherstone. I’ll just try if I can grow stronger physically first. For now, I will run back to Cassau," I said.

I have tested the Etherstone. And I really couldn’t use Aura when I’m touching it. Though if I touched the Etherstone with a weapon, then I could still use Aura in my body to make the swing stronger even if the blade won’t be able to cut through the Etherstone.

I already have the countermeasure for that. The magic armor I always wore.

As long as I keep the armor on, even when I’m touching anything made of Etherstone, I can at least use Aura on my own body.

Previously, because I was in the middle of battle, I couldn’t test it completely. Had I known about this, I would be able to capture the Archbishop without having to lose my right hand.

Though because of that, I think the Archbishop has informed the Evil God that Etherstone is very useful. I bet they won’t expect that the next time I faced someone with Etherstone weapon, I will still be able to overpower them.

Even then, I still need to improve my strength.

I used to think that it’s better to be an all-rounder. Good in speed and strength.

But now that I have went through a lot of battle, I think I know what will be good for me. To be faster.

Being stronger is fine. But if I’m faster, with Aura and Victoria or her clones as my weapons, I can defeat more enemies in a shorter time.

So I need to think of a way to improve my speed without having any change at least in my strength. And the only thing I can think of is running.

I already have explosive speed and acceleration speed faster than even Ray or Spot. But my max speed is still much lower than theirs. At least if I could increase it just by a little bit, that would be awesome.

I bid my farewell to the hotel staffs and left the hotel. When I was about to leave the city, I got greeted by some hunters who had just returned from their requests. They were a group of girls who were my former classmates.

"Oh, Roy! Where are you going?" someone asked.

"I’m going back home. Kayla, Angela, Wendy, and even Princess Shirley already left. So I will be leaving alone," I said.

Yes, I called her Princess Shirley because these people were still strangers to me.

"Wendy? Are you close with her?" another girl asked.

"Well, she’s no longer my teacher. So I stopped calling her Ms. Wendy anymore. And yes, we’re close. We’re both professors in Cassau. Though I still sometimes called her Ms. Wendy in front of the students," I said.

But I lied! I barely met her in university. And I have stopped teaching. So I don’t think I will call her Ms. Wendy anymore.

"How about you stay here for just a few more days? Maybe you want to be alone as a man away from your lovers for just a few days," one of them suddenly approached me and hugged my arm. She’s trying to seduce me.

"As you know, I’m deeply involved with the war. And something big just happened so I need to do something. Sorry, but I can’t take that offer," I said.

"Something big! What is it?!" they asked me.

Should I tell them? Well, it’s not like it’s a secret anyway. And I’m sure that the news will spread soon.

"The capital of Varadis was almost destroyed. But they managed to save a lot of people and the kingdom is still standing. Sooner or later, the news should spread all the way here. So it’s fine if I tell you this now," I said.

"The capital of Varadis!? Do you think that it’s safe in Melk?" the one who tried to seduce me let go of my arm.

"The truth is that I can’t guarantee that any place in this world is safe. That’s why during the reunion party, I told you guys how to get stronger. Even if you have no interest in joining the war, there’s nothing wrong about getting stronger to protect your own lives. Well then, I’ll take my leave. Goodbye. I hope we can meet again next time," I said before I run to the direction of Cassau. And those girls started discussing something right after I left.

"...Did he just left the city without carrying anything?"

"Maybe a master level summoner is so fast that he can reach the next city in just one day. I wish I can reach that level."

"What if we gather enough money so we can go to university like Kayla and Angela? Maybe we can learn more things and even if it’s not master level, we can still reach expert level. That way, even if we don’t join the war, we can stay alive at least. Let’s do it!"

I’m glad to hear them make a decision like that.

Actually, after I run out of their sight, I returned back in hiding without them knowing and eavesdropped on them. I’m really glad that they decided to get stronger.

"You’re just like a stalker, Roy," said my right hand.

"I just want to know if there are any of my former classmates that will make the decision to get stronger. And I’m happy that it worked. They returned to the guild and took another request right away. Maybe I should reward them with some magic stones if we ever meet again," I said.

After that, I run back home. To Cassau.

I can get there quickly. But I took my time by running different courses that I saw on the way.

Trying to run on uneven ground. Running up a hill. Even when there’s no hill, I just run up in the air.

Running down the hill. Running on water. Then I let my body sunk underwater and started swimming quickly. Just anything that hopefully will increase my speed.

But I also must not work myself out until I’m totally exhausted. We still don’t know when the cult will make their move. But we expect that it would be in a few days. So I must have enough stamina for that.

In the end, it took me six hours until I reached Cassau. It took longer than I expected. Well, that’s because I took different route rather than going straight.

I don’t think I’m faster yet. But I think I’m better at running in uneven path and in different kind of environment. And that is good enough for now. Not like I expect to get faster in just one day.

When I reached Cassau, I didn’t return home directly. I just sat on a bench on the park and think about what’s next.

It’s hard for my body to improve anytime soon. Should I take steroids? They are useful to make muscle grow. Though I’d rather take the safe way of training normally. So I’ll pass on that.

"If you don’t know what to do to get stronger, then stop thinking. Just do everything normally. Do what you usually do rather than thinking. It’s you who said that you’re bad at thinking. How about you return first and have some meal at home? You also have somethings to ask Lina, right?" Victoria suggested.

That’s right! I forgot to ask Lina to help with transportation from now on. By using Sonia as the medium for the transfer point.

If I ask, she will surely agree. But I want her to make her own decision.

But first, let’s get some meal. Even though I’m not tired, I still used some stamina running all the way here. Let’s ask Lina after meal then.
