Chapter 948: Getting Rid of Bandits

"What? So even bandits in the countryside heard of the news about you? An Aura user who can use portal and has reached master level in his summoning level, and also got his hand severed in the battle against the Archbishop?"

Both Oleg and I were in the capital right now. Inside the palace talking with Albert who seemed to be taking a break at the moment.

We told him of what happened. About the Attention-seeker who tried to mess with me but got arrested instead. Well, he died though. So he wasn’t arrested.

And it’s not just an arrest. Because he brought with him a group of people. And among them, some of them were really good at hiding the fact that they’re master level mages who belonged to the cult.

"It’s just like you to cause so much trouble," Albert said.

"It’s not my fault at all. That guy just got jealous of me and tried to mess with me knowing that I’m working together with Shirley. He must be really stupid," I said.

"Though it’s good that he’s trying to mess with you. If not, we would never know about this. To think that there are master level mages nearby acting as bandits. Seems like they are going to attack multiple places at once again. Making you even busier. What will you do then?" Albert asked.

"For now, we’re going to the bandits’ base in the mountain and destroy everything there. But if I show myself, there’s a chance that someone there will inform the Evil God and they will start thinking that I’m in Melk. Should we just do it?" I asked Albert.

"Hmm... I’ll get more information of any bandits’ base anywhere in the continent that have been discovered. Then the army will march there and destroy everything. This way, it won’t be suspicious as it will be seen as if it’s just a regular clean up," Albert said.

And so I called Sunglasses here to think of a plan. He also praised Oleg a lot after hearing his opinion on the plan. Seems like Oleg is also talented as a strategist.

"That’s the plan. I have contacted everyone else to do it. The only problem is if the army sent will be too weak since the bandits have master level mages in their ranks. If there are more master level mages than they could handle, they will retreat instead. Roy, you don’t need to use your portal too much since you still need some rest to recover your mana completely. Just focus on the one in Melk," Sunglasses said.

"Hmm... I don’t think it’s a good idea if he just take care of the base in Melk. Even if we limit his use of portal, if it’s just him moving alone, then it should be fine if he open up portal ten times. How about we assign him to help take care of five more bases where there are master level mages as the enemies? Then the cult won’t think that the Aura user is currently in Melk," Oleg suggested.

That is actually a good idea. We can make them think that I’m in Varadis, Consenza, Arturo, or other smaller country by helping that country get rid of the base.

Though it’s not just any average bandit group. It’s a bandit group with master level mages there. So the requirement for me to make my move in that country is that there’s at least several master level mages in that base.

If it’s just one or two, the army can handly them. But if there were more than what the army could handle, then I will help.

Of course the army will retreat if I can’t get there sooner. And if they managed to retreat safely, there’s no need for me to go there.

After getting all information, we managed to got the location of around thirty bandits’ bases. One of them is the one in Melk.

I had just finished a long battle, but I’m entering another one quickly. Well, this is also a good way for me to get used to my new right hand.

I didn’t tell this to Kayla and the others since they needed some rest themselves. It will be just the army, Oleg, and I.

And so, after hearing that everyone is in position, we attacked the bandit bases at the same time. With Oleg and I attacked the base together with some soldiers.

It didn’t take long for us to destroy the base even if it was protected by several master level mages. After all, not all of them were master level mages. some were even weaker than advanced level and still had to put the explosive device inside their mouth.

Soon after we finished with the one in Melk, I opened a portal to where there’s a report of some master level mages in the base. Among thirty bases, at least ten of them have master level mages. And I’m going to five of them including the one in Melk.

I was not the only one being exceptional in the battle. Oleg and some others also very strong. And Oleg, each time he faced a master level mage, his fighting style improved. He was so quick at learning.

On the second base we raided, there were still battle ongoing. I didn’t actually need to be there to help, but I helped anyway.

The third base we raided, we were on a losing battle. But before the army decided to retreat, Oleg and I arrived to turn the tables.

The fourth base, the battle seem to be equal. So we win this one again.

The fifth base, the army was already retreating. And instead of destroying the base, Oleg and I were tasked to help secure the escape.

There were five other bases with master level mages, but it’s all fine. Some managed to gain victory without having me there, while some managed to escape safely with the worst injury seem to be just second degree burns for a few people. And that’s the worst casualties we had.

With this, at least those people in the bases learned that we can attack anytime. Especially since they knew that I can open portals.

"They don’t know that you can have Victoria’s clones as your transfer points for your portal. They only knew that you have five familiars, and have at least one transfer point in Monsters World connected to where you gather all your tamed monsters. Though I’m sure that they don’t know that you’re not a tamer at all. This way, as long as we just let your familiars roaming around, they will surely watch them," Sunglasses said.

Which means that anywhere they found a werewolf, an angel, a crab person, a dark horse monster, and a living armor, they will pay attention to those monsters. Though they don’t know that I don’t have a living armor as my familiar.

This will be used in the future. In which that we will set Shelia free and use her as a bait.

Actually, it didn’t have to be Shelia. But she’s the most eager to do it when I asked her via telepathy. Though if it’s their fighting strength, she is the bet choice we have.

And we can also use any other female werewolves we have as baits. Werewolves themselves are rare on Earth. I have never seen any other than the werewolves from the village. So I’m sure that they will look for any female werewolf they found closely.

"She said that she’s ready to go now, but I personally think that she’s not yet at her peak strength. Just like the others, she needs some rest. Even yesterday during the battle, she lost her ability of self-healing. Let’s continue thinking of another method until she’s recovered," I said.

"Yes. Then you can return back and rest as well. Tomorrow is the day that you will bring some people with you to the Spirit Mountain to cultivate. Oleg, you’re also going there?" Albert asked Oleg.

"I will, Your Majesty. Seeing someone as strong as Roy lost his hand, I realized that I won’t be able to protect anyone if I don’t get stronger. As for my family, I will ask them to live in Cassau. Protected by Roy and the others there," Oleg said.

"I think that’s a great offer. But I will not accept it anytime soon. To have nobility title is good, but that will restrain me in many ways as I have to protect everyone and not just my family. I’ll think about it later after the cult is destroyed," Oleg said.

Oh, he’s just like me. Refusing good things because we want to make sure that we will be safe from the cult.

Though he’s doing it for his family. While I just do it to overcome my past trauma. We’re different in that. But I’m glad that he’s my ally.

After chatting a bit more, we returned back to Melk. I talked to Kayla and Shirley who is already awake about what we did today and our next plan.

Tomorrow, I will go to the Spirit Mountain with them and the others. And from tomorrow, I won’t be able to rely on them to the fight ahead until they reached master level at least.

Well, I’ll use that chance to grow stronger then. Maybe I will reach the stage beyond master level for my summoning element. That would be nice. Though I think it will take a few years until I can reach that stage.
