Chapter 924: Graham’s Side
Three portals opened. And Roy sent three of his familiars to each of the Blobby he threw inside each portal.
The three familiars are Shelia, Graham, and Crabbe. And they will have to fight everyone there until reinforcement arrive.
And as soon as Graham entered the portal, he checked the surrounding area.
The priest opened three portals. It means that he has at least three familiars. So the first thing Graham looked is the monster who was supposed to be the one marking that place as a transfer point for the portal.
But he didn’t find anyone there. Even though when Roy shot Blobbybullets into this portal, those Blobbies died soon after. It took a while until some Blobbies managed to escape for a moment enough for Roy to open a portal for Graham to enter.
But there’s no one here other than the opened portal.
Portal is unable to move. They can be opened, but Graham knows that it can’t move. So after the portal is opened, even if the monster that was set as the transfer point moved, the portal will still be there.
It means that the monster where Graham is at is currently in hiding. And Graham was unable to detect the monster right as soon as he got there.
Graham couldn’t see the enemy with his eyes. So he used his magic. Only then he realized the location of his enemy.
It’s a monster specialized in stealth. An invisible monster. And it’s strong.
When Graham noticed the monster’s location, he quickly moved his spear because the invisible monster was about to kill him with a sneak attack. And he could block the attack. But from that clash, Graham realized something.
’That thing is as strong as me physically while I’m in this angel form. And I don’t know if that is its real strength or not.’
Graham is still in his normal angel form. But if he turned into his hybrid form of half demon and half angel, his strength will increase.
But among the three familiars that Roy sent, Graham could be said to be the smartest. Even though Roy used to call him the stupidest race for how lazy the angels were.
Graham won’t mindlessly use his full strength. Because he knew that even though his master is strong, it’s impossible for Roy to block everyone from entering the portal. So he needs to save his power so he can fight back against the mages.
And so, after he blocked the attack of the invisible monster, he flew to the sky and created two shadow clones to face the invisible monster. Because he knew that just one won’t be enough.
"Kill that invisible monster while I figure out where we are," Graham said.
Graham is smart. Now that his laziness was already gone because of what happened with his sister, Graham worked hard to not only get stronger. But also to get smarter.
Roy has brought him and other familiars to a lot of battles and adventure. So if the place he’s at is somewhere he has been to before, he will remember it.
Graham is the familiar that went through a lot of development. From too lazy to even follow Roy’s order, to complete obedience. But it’s all because of the same goal they desire. Revenge against the cult.
Graham’s two shadow clones were not enough to face the invisible monster. But they are enough to last until Graham found out where he is. So Graham put his hand inside his pocket to activate his phone. The phone that Roy gave to his familiars and several other monsters in the village. With far less people he can call than the phone that Albert and the other have.
And Graham texted Kayla, the one his master trust most, about where he is currently at. Graham knew that Albert and the others were watching. But he didn’t know whether Kayla was watching or not.
Even so, he knew that Kayla is someone he can trust because she is someone his master trust the most other than Albert. And Graham knew that Albert is a king, so he might be busy. So he texted Kayla instead.
[I found out where I am. It’s west side of the capital of Varadis]
Only two sentences were sent before Graham joined the battle against the invisible monster.
The invisible monster became even stronger. But Graham who is great at light magic and dark magic can always find where the invisible monster is as long as he keeps his focus.
He called back his two shadow clones and created light behind him to make his shadow bigger so he could make one huge shadow clone.
This clone, although slower than Graham, is far stronger than Graham physically. And the two of them cooperate together to fight the invisible monster.
The invisible monster lost. But it didn’t die because the portal was still opened. So Graham killed the monster with his spear.
This time, the monster is really dead. But the portal was not closed at all. Which means that even if the familiar is dead, the opened portal will still open as long as the summoner is alive. It’s a information that Graham can inform his master with.
So he contacted Roy who was just about to finish connecting the line on the ground via telepathy.
When Graham was about to help him, some people already entered the portal. Now he’s the one who has to face hundreds of people.
"Damn. It might cost too much mana, but I’ll delay them as much as possible with my shadow clones," Graham said as he drunk a bottle of mana potion and created dozens of shadow clones.
He can only create a few of them that has the same strength as he is normally. But if there’s too many shadow clones, each of them will be too weak. And the enemies were master level mages. So even if he could delay them, it won’t be for too long.
Graham used his clones to face the mages while Graham himself attacked from distance.
Unlike Shelia, Graham chose to fight in a safe distance even though his spearsmanship is better than his light magic which he used to attack from distance. But this is necessary to delay the enemies as long as possible.
Each time many of his clones were destroyed, he drunk more mana potion and summoned new clones. But he could only kill a few of them as more of the enemies decided to ignore Graham and move to the direction of Varadis.
’I guess I can’t do it alone. When is the reinforcement coming?’
After fighting for so long, that the portal was already closed, finally, reinforcement arrived.
When Kayla received Graham’s text, she was confused at first. Then she quickly contacted Albert and found out about what happened during her absence.
Then, Albert told King Henry who was there and King Henry informed someone in Varadis.
And reinforcement from Varadis finally arrived. Including Kron who was stationed nearby after the attack from the fake bandits in multiple locations at the same time.
They encountered the mages who ignored Graham and moved toward Varadis. And the fight begun there while Graham still had to face many of them on his own.
But Kron decided to leave the place where the reinforcement and the enemy mages were fighting to help Graham knowing that he’s on his own.
"Good job, Graham. Can you fly?" Kron asked Graham who is already in his hybrid form of half angel and half demon.
"I can. Are we retreating?" Graham asked.
"Yes. The reinforcement is too few. Tell Roy to quickly finish his business so he can transport many people. And don’t worry, we already found where Shelia and Crabbe are fighting. The enemy is targeting Varadis right now. As long as Roy can leave and transport reinforcement, Varadis will be safe," Kron said.
"That’s good. Then let’s retreat. We’re outnumbered," Graham said as he flew together with Kron to escape.
But he didn’t just escape. He also created the biggest and strongest shadow clone he could create before he left. So the enemies who were still there will face his clone.
"Nice gift to the enemy! Have you told Roy yet?" Kron asked.
"Yes. But he can’t leave yet because he’s busy. He told me to relay to you guys to not send everyone because there’s a chance that other countries will be attacked at the same time," Graham said.
"I guess that’s possible. What about Shelia, Crabbe, and Victoria?" Graham asked.
"They are still busy as well. The enemies this time are much stronger than the ones we used to face," Graham said.
Not only Shelia and Crabbe in other locations, which are the south and north east of the capital of Varadis, Graham also reported about Victoria’s situation.
While Roy entered the portal where Shelia was, he left Victoria and Ray behind with the group of caged mages. Although she’s outside the cage, there were still many master level mages outside the barrier. So she’s also busy.
This attack that didn’t happen in Roy’s past life could only mean one thing. That the cult is getting desperate.
If the cult failed again in this mission, they will lose a huge force because there are thousands of powerful master level mages sent.
But to stop their mission is difficult. Because the alliance still only has a few master level mages. So this fight might end with a lot of loses on both sides whatever the result will be.
