Chapter 913: There’s no Match in the Arena Today

Sophie, Penny, Hannah, and I had an interesting night. And no, we didn’t sleep together. In fact, we didn’t even sleep at all. Because we are currently in the establishment owned by one of the former prostitutes from Red Tail.

At some point, I even contacted Ruby and brought her here. We had a lot to talk.

Then the former prostitute also contacted other former prostitutes of Red Tail that she’s still in contact with in Melk. So right now, I’m surrounded by girls.

These girls are all the people whom I have explained about the fact that I returned back to the past. But they were not willing to join the fight, so they left and lived their own lives. Some even got married and had children. Though they made sure to never tell anyone about me returning to the past.

From what I can see, they are all happy. So it’s good.

Some of the former prostitutes even brought their children. And their husbands also wanted to come, but the girls rejected that idea.

After all, there’s no wife who would let their husband walk into a brothel after they are married. Even if the purpose is just for having a reunion, the wives won’t like it.

Some were unreachable because they moved away from Melk. But it seems like they are still exchanging mails with someone here and they are doing fine.

That’s what she said. Though we know that even though she’s doing fine, she’s not exactly well enough to get the customer free drinks for the whole night. So Sophie suggested me that I will pay for all the drink. Including the drinks we had. Which was fine.

As for the three thugs, they were arrested by the city guards. They seem to notice who I am when they saw me. I guess they must be Oleg’s subordinates when he worked as their captain. And they saw me by chance talking with Oleg.

Maybe it will be safer if this brothel has connection with Oleg. But I’m not that bad of a man to get a married man to a brothel. So it’s best to leave things be to the people of this city.

We had a blast before I returned everyone back. And with her approval, I marked her office there with a Blobby so I can go there right away.

Everyone returned with a happy face. And Sophie told them that they should meet again in Cassau next time.

After I brought everyone home, and escorted the girls who lived in Melk back to their homes and explained to their husbands that I’m just their wives’ friend, I checked the husbands for a bit. To see if they can be trusted or not.

The result? I can’t tell. But since there’s no report at all about them from the agents working undercover in Melk, I guess that they are not related to the cult.

Melk is one of the cities that has deep grudge against the cult. They won’t let anyone related to the cult to walk around freely in the city. So I guess that the husbands are all not bad people.

But still, the former prostitutes’ husbands accused me to have an affair with their wives. It was annoying, but since they are my friends, and we managed to make it clear, they no longer acted hostile toward me. So it’s good.

I guess I’m just that weird. I’m close with a lot of former prostitutes, but I’m not close at all with people my age.

Since I lived in the brothel during the whole time I went to school, I’m sure that some of my schoolmates noticed it. I guess I can expect some people to cause me some trouble during the reunion.

I’ll just try my best sitting in the corner and eat as much as I can. Though if they can’t pay for my dishes, then I guess I should pay for my own share.

It’s still a few days until the reunion. I wonder what I should do until then?

Though right now, it’s best to sleep. We talked for almost the entire night that even Victoria has returned to my room. And there’s nothing to do this early in the morning. So I just slept.

When I wake up, it’s already busy at noon. So I wander around the city again to see if there’s anything new that interest me.

Then I was shocked to see that the Arena today is not used for matches like usual. But there’s a theater troupe there. There’s a play about ongoing there.

"Oh, that’s great. They realized that the huge screen shouldn’t just be used to show a fight. But there’s also a need for something else that can entertain the people. And they made a play from a children story," Victoria said.

The actors in the play right now is acting out a play from a children story that I read before. This is good for entertaining children as well.

I heard from Victoria that the giant screen in the square can be used for many things. Like broadcasting an important news live so everyone knows what happened in the world, to an entertainment show like this.

It can be used for education as well. Even in the plays, instead of going with the script of the story that I know, they also taught those who are watching to read and write as well. Which makes not only children, but adults who can’t read and write to be interested in watching the show.

Some seats in the Arena were rearranged so a table can be placed there for the audience to learn to read and write right away. And the ticket to enter is actually cheap. Even in the square, some people are renting tables and seats so those who are interested can study as well while watching for free.

"This is great. How come such thing doesn’t exist in Cassau?" I asked Victoria.

"As of now, more people are still interested in fighting. So there’s no need yet for other types of entertainment. But I heard that they are preparing to do the same as well," Victoria said.

"It means that I can also made the circus perform so everyone can watch. Though there will be less interaction if there’s no audience watching directly. I guess I still prefer to meet the audience directly," I said.

As Clarence, I often interact with the audience. If I play in front of the camera, there will be less people to interact with. And that won’t be interesting for me.

"You can also perform live music or something else. Yesterday, I found a group of traveling bards trying to go together to perform. They are training as we speak," Victoria said.

"Is it more like your world right now with such things can be watched for everyone?" I asked Victoria.

"Yes. Though we have at least one TV in each house. Even if it’s not TV, most people have something that they can watch from. Including from their phones," she said.

Then I touched the phone in my pocket. It can still only be used to make a call, a text, or reading and writing in the forum for everyone to see. But it’s still in development to see what else can phone be used for.

Well, there are way more things in her world that must be more advanced than in this world. But that doesn’t mean that we’re losing in everything. We have magic after all.

Just like that, I spend several days roaming around. I even watched the musical performance from the group that Victoria talked about. I think it will be soon that Cassau and other cities will follow what happened in Melk.

And I know why Melk is the first to do something like this. Because of two people who influence this city a lot. The twin commentators.

They made a comment saying that a play can be performed for everyone to watch. Just like that and some people willing to do it.

If the world is at peace, then I can enjoy it even more. I guess I have more motivation to destroy the cult now.
