Chapter 902: Break Time: Why I Got Picked?

I finally able to use Aura for the first time. That’s what happened in the illusion. And I slightly remembered that moment. The moment when I sliced down a magic wall and kill the enemy.

Everyone cheered after seeing that. And Victoria said something like it’s a movie. If this is what a movie is, then I’m sure it’s quite popular. Maybe the Spirit King will do this and we can get a lot of money.

Wait, that won’t work. The Spirit King said that humans used to exploit his ability knowing that he’s unable to harm humans. And I just thought of exploiting him.

Well, he said that he enjoys watching people’s past. So maybe he will do it. But let’s not ask him about it.

Yeah. Why me? Though the answer is in the Black Slime. Victoria knows the answer because she’s been with me the longest, she remembered Javier for a bit during the time that Javier’s consciousness entered the Black Slime, and she also watched my past completely. The complete version. Not this one which skipped a lot of parts.

"It will be shown later. But if you all want to know the reason why, I can tell you about it," Victoria said.

Everyone looked at the Black Slime who is taking the form of a human. Even the children. Though for the spirits, I don’t know when they stopped playing around.

Since when? And they’re all gathering around me instead. Though because none of them touching me or sitting on my shoulder like how Airy used to, they’re just flying around, even Airy, I didn’t notice.

"Well, if everyone agree to discuss it now instead of after the illusion is over, then I will tell you the reasons. There are several of them. First, it was because Roy learned Aura. And since I was supposed to be in the Black Slime’s consciousness together with Javier and the others, they, or should I say we, decided to not just sent Roy back to the past. But also to make me the Black Slime’s main consciousness so I can be his teacher in learning Aura. Though I didn’t know that at first because I didn’t remember anything about the past life," Victoria said.

Right. She and Shirley said that only my brain returned to the past so I can still retain my memory. So, while I still remember about my past life, Victoria didn’t.

And it was also luck as well. Because I decided that the Black Slime was actually useful since I became an Aura user as it can be transformed into any weapons. So I tried hard to remember how I summoned the Black Slime while getting the Black Slime into my familiar was completely up to luck then.

But how did I have good memory about some parts, but not other parts? I guess it means that my brain damage from returning back to the past made me forgot some memories, but not all. And whether the memories I had after returning back to the past is important or not, even now, I still don’t know. But I don’t care now. Because I can watch it with the help of the Spirit King.

Though at this time, most of my memory about my past life is not important. Because I changed so many things. And most of it is thanks to Albert’s ability to detect lies.

If he thought that what I said to be lies, then this alliance won’t exist. So I’m glad that he’s one of the first people whom I told about the future.

Since he’s my brother, then maybe I can also gain the ability to detect lies? Well, I won’t work too hard on that.

Right. I didn’t remember that she was sick in my past life until I met Marie in this life. It was lucky that I gained Divine Vision before meeting Albert and Marie who was pregnant at the time.

If I met Albert and Marie later, then all of this won’t happen.

Basically, they sent me back to the past so I could ask for help. Well, asking for help was just one of the things from my own Shameless Survival Arts which we saw several times in the illusion.

Because I died even after gaining the ability to use Aura, I thought that I should return to the mindset of who I was when I haven’t learned Aura. And the first thing that came to mind was Shameless Survival Arts.

Right now though, I no longer call it Shameless Survival Arts. It has become my common sense. So I mostly stopped thinking about it.

"Well, I guess that’s true. If it’s Angela who was picked to return back to the past, then she might only think of growing stronger instead of gathering an army. Not that it’s bad. But because we learned more about the cult, we know that just one person getting stronger is not enough. So it’s good that Roy returned back to the past and able to find the right people to tell the truth about the future," Kayla said.

Though I don’t think that Javier would know what my Aura ability will be. It was amazing that I got Divine Vision. If I don’t have this, then it’s impossible or me to change the future this much. Like how I won’t be able to tell that Marie was pregnant with twins.

"If it was me who got returned back to the past, then... I don’t think I can imagine what my life would be with Marie being ill. I’m not a doctor, so I doubt that any doctors whom I told about the knowledge of helping birth for twin babies would willing to do what I learned. I’m sure that the knowledge about it must be heard by me if even Roy heard about it," Albert said.

In fact, I guess that it was Albert who helped discover it. Because I’m pretty sure that I remembered that discovery came from a doctor in Tatrama. Possibly in the capital. So I’m pretty sure that it was because of Albert. Or maybe Alan since he was supposed to be an adult by the time the knowledge was spread.

"Then I guess it’s good so far that Roy was the one picked to return back to the past. Though if only he traveled a lot more, he might be able to meet Randy, Toni, or Claudia. And they will be the one that Javier picked," Harold said.

...That’s right! Those people are much smarter than I am. So I’m lucky that I spend a lot of my life in that village and died soon after leaving it so I didn’t have the chance to travel to another country.

I’m sure that the people that Harold mentioned would still be alive one way or another in that future. They are that smart after all.

Whatever the case, I’m just glad that the future has been changed greatly. I hope we will succeed in destroying the cult.

...Though the people here are still discussing about the choice of picking me as the one who got returned to the past.
