Chapter 1152: Fake Emperor of Consenza
Chapter 1152: Fake Emperor of Consenza
After collecting the loot, I returned to the guild. Then I showed the receptionist that I completed all the quests.
"Oh, I also defeated some desert scorpions and collected their poison gland. There should be another quest I didn’t take. Can I complete the quest without taking it?" I asked as I showed the receptionist my loot.
"...Yes. So it means that you completed six quests you originally took this morning in just a few hours and another quest that you didn’t take. Seven in total. The reward will be deposited to your card," she said.
I gave her my card and after a while she returned it back. Now the amount is more than before. Still, I’m already rich. I didn’t need the reward after every mission. But if I refuse it, the guild’s reputation would be worsened because people will think that the guild refused to give rewards to someone who completed a quest. That’s why I still accepted the reward.
"...Will you take another quest after this?" she asked.
"I don’t know. I have a plan this afternoon. Maybe if I can finish it earlier, I will take another quest. If not, then I’ll see you tomorrow," I said.
I have some business with the monarch of this Empire. With Lynn. Or maybe Claudia since she’s taking care most of the jobs.
Without asking for permission, I directly opened a portal from somewhere away from the city where no one is to Lynn’s location.
And I see something unexpected. Lynn is working!
"...What? I’m busy," Lynn said as if she doesn’t care at all that I appeared here all of a sudden.
"I’m surprised to see you actually working," I said.
"I told you before. Claudia is a great aide and she has helped me a lot. But before she became my aide, I did my work all by myself. I’m good at it. But Claudia is better. So thanks to her, I have a lot of free time," Lynn said.
But today is not one of those free times it seems. She only glanced at me once when I opened a portal here.
Celestine is also here helping a little with the paperwork. And Claudia herself is surrounded by stacks of papers. Seems like they’re busier than before. Or maybe it’s something they actually had to take care every day.
"Anyway, what are you doing here? Coming here without permission," Lynn asked me.
"Oh, I found some people in the desert. They’re trying to recruit me to be their subordinate—"
"How stupid. As if you’re going to be anyone’s subordinate," Lynn interrupted.
"I know. I saved their life and they acted arrogantly. More importantly, about those people. There are five of them. And one of them said that he’s the Emperor of Consenza while the other four seem to believe it. I don’t know if they are acting or they truly believe that. So I put them to sleep and took them to an empty island. I’m here to ask you if you have any plan with them," I said.
By this time, everyone’s hand stopped moving. They stopped paying attention to their work and stared at me.
"Five people and one of them said that he’s the Emperor of Consenza?" Lynn asked.
"Yes."
Then I explained how I met them, put them to sleep, and brought them to an empty island along with their horses.
Lynn and Claudia looked at each other while Celestine seems to not know what happened. Maybe those two knows something.
"Bring them all here," Lynn said.
So I opened a portal to where five men and five horses are sleeping. Then I carried the five men into Lynn’s office. As for the horses, I don’t need to. They will wake up there and just eat grass in that island because there’s nothing for them to do there.
Now all five men are sleeping in Lynn’s office. Both Lynn and Claudia are checking them. While Celestine just watched.
"Celestine, you know them?" I asked.
"No. But they seem familiar," Celestine said.
Celestine was away from Consenza for too long when she somehow joined the cult. So it’s normal for her to not remember.
"You forget about him? Well, we were young when you left. He caused a lot of trouble back then. This is our cousin, Theo," Lynn said.
Oh, a name that I will probably forget soon after due to his unimportance in my life. I’ll call him the fake Emperor.
Apparently, when Lynn was appointed as the Empress, this guy refused it so badly and even wanted to create a rebellion. But he’s too stupid and he’s too weak. And he’s too... everything negative that anyone could say. So no one is willing to rebel for him.
Though wasn’t there a rebellion attempt a while back that I helped? Well, it doesn’t matter. It’s simply that this guy is stupid.
"Because of that, I exiled him to a city in the desert. I never thought he would be able to escape," Lynn said.
"That’s my fault. Had I known that these guys are idiots, I wouldn’t have helped them and let them be killed by the scorpions. So, what do you want to do with them?" I asked.
"Put them in prison first so we can take care of them later. It’s not something you need to know. But if you want to, you can stay," Lynn said.
It’s just an internal matter for the Empire. And if I continue taking quests from that guild, I will make that guild bankrupt all by myself. I think I’ll stay for a while.
"I have nothing to do today so I’ll stay. Though I don’t have much interest in it," I said.
"It will be more reassuring when you’re here," Lynn said.
But Celestine is already here though. Well, it’s just Lynn thinking of Celestine as her sister not as the strongest earth mage we have.
"Then wake them up and let’s take care of them right away," Lynn said.
So I tied them with Blobbyropes and use air magic to wake them up. As a bonus, I made them wake up with the smelly scent of fart.
"Hoek! What the hell?!"
Yup. Everyone woke up and felt like throwing up right away. And no, it’s not the small based on my fart. It’s actually from the weretiger’s fart. Their farts are so smelly that their residence in my kingdom actually located far from the center because the other races don’t want them to get too close during normal day.
"Have you woken up?" Lynn asked the men.
"...Lynn. And you, who the hell are you?!" the fake Emperor asked.
To show off my status, I stood up and stand on the table.
"Someone higher than the Emperor of Consenza. I heard that you have been away from civilization for a long time that you don’t know what happened. I guess that’s true," I said.
"Huh? Lynn! Is that what an Emperor should be? Being looked down by someone of that level?!" the fake Emperor asked Lynn.
"It’s true. You have been away from civilization for so long that you know nothing. Anyway, why have you escaped from your exile? You shouldn’t have escaped from there if you want to live longer," Lynn said.
"I’m here... to take what’s rightfully mine! I’m here to take the throne! I— HIIEEE!!!"
He’s annoying. So while he’s talking, I put some pressure on him and his men to show him my strength again.
"Just so you know, many things happened after you left. We now have a lot of soldiers who reached master level. Roy over here is the strongest force we have. But we have hundreds of master level mages. So, what do you want?" Lynn asked the man.
Everyone is shaking in fear. I guess it’s related with strength then.
"Do you perhaps thinking that you can win a duel and take the throne?" I asked.
They didn’t answer. But it seems like I was correct.
From what I sensed from those five men, two of them are expert level mages. The other three including the fake Emperor are weaker.
When I said that they’re thinking of duel, their expression changed. I really was right.
"Sigh... you’re a total idiot. So, I’ll give you two options. First, you can go back to your exile in the desert. Or second, you will be executed. I can give you the third option by accepting your duel. But it’s true when I said that we have master level mages. Do you remember my sister, Celestine? She’s over there. She has returned. And she’s also a master level earth mage. In fact, she could be the strongest master level earth mage in the continent. Are you going to challenge us?" Lynn asked.
They’re all silent after hearing that. Seems like they don’t want to be exiled again.
"...What can we do? The city was destroyed," the fake Emperor said.
A city got destroyed?
Then he explained how there was suddenly a stampede on the desert city where even finding a monster is rare. Even though it’s far from civilization, it’s supposed to be safe from monsters.
Seriously? Do they think that there’s a safe place from monsters?
The only reason a place is safe is because there are beings, humans or not, that exist in that place that the monsters are afraid of. That’s why it’s safe.
"Then I’ll find another place to exile you," Lynn said. Without any sympathy toward her own cousin.
I guess that’s how much she hates him.
