Chapter 1103: One Month Later
It has been a month since Angela started attempting to break through to master level. She still hasn’t managed to get there. But she hasn’t moved at all.
The mana in the surrounding becoming thicker thanks to her. And I couldn’t see too far anymore with my Divine Vision. It’s the first time this happened in the outside. Usually, it could happen in a place with thick concentration of mana like a dungeon that hasn’t been explored by any mages. But it happened right now because of Angela.
At least I learned something new. That if there’s someone about as strong as Angela in the cult trying to breakthrough, then I might not be able to see much.
But it doesn’t matter. Whether I can see or not, my goal hasn’t changed.
So far, the monsters coming here are all defeated. Many of them are fish type monsters. And they are delicious type of fish. So we have a feast almost every day.
The bird type monsters are delicious as well. It’s good that we get Angela to attempt breaking through here.
Though the problem is that every day we’re here, the stronger the monster that appeared.
At first, they were weak. But now, they are stronger than before. They couldn’t break our defense though. But they’re stronger than before.
Though there’s no one from the cult so far. Either they are still planning or have no interest at all to us. But I doubt that they had no interest at all. There’s someone attempting to breakthrough and it can be felt from the concentration of mana that the person trying to do it is really strong. There’s no way that they will miss the chance to kill this person.
So my guess is that they could be too far to sense this or they’re still planning.
Just in case, I left the island a few times with Ray. Riding to the nearest island to see something.
Everything that is alive here are moving toward the island. But the land monsters can’t do it because they have to cross the sea. So they can only look toward the direction of the island from the shore.
I can see some really strong-looking land monsters. But they couldn’t do anything since they don’t seem to be able to fly or swim.
In the ocean, all fishes and monsters are swimming toward the island. It’s really scary if we have that many enemies coming at once. But we have really strong allies over there to protect Angela. And those monsters are not friends with each other. They only focused on the target. So it’s not hard to defeat them since they can’t cooperate with each other.
Just in case, I tried to look for a species that I know. A species that we have in the Monsters Village so I can recruit them.
But when I greeted some of them, they tried to fight me. And when I won, they refused to obey my order. So I left since it seems like they’re not going to pursue this topic any more. And they don’t seem to hate me. Just disappointed at how weak they were.
Maybe if I’m lucky, I can meet them again in the future. Who knows if their mind will change by then?
Anyway, that’s what happened in the last month. I’m back in the island again protecting Angela.
After one month, everyone seems to have gotten stronger. Fighting weak monsters all the time becoming too boring for them. So some people and monsters would sometime group up and talk about strategy that they can use in a fight. If it works here, it could work when we’re up against the cult. That’s what they thought.
Since there’s no enemy here that can threaten us, they started to treat this like a game to get stronger or thinking of new strategy to use in a real fight. And the leader of this movement is actually Kayla. I guess she’s bored because she couldn’t return back to Cassau for a month already.
I told them that if she wants to return, she can do it. She can just ask me to open a portal. But she’s committed to protect Angela until she reaches master level. And she will do it without fail no matter how boring it will be.
Well, it has been a month. I’m sure that there will be even stronger monsters and it won’t be as boring anymore.
It will end up as a survival battle. Either we will die or they will.
So this is actually good for me. But I can’t help it if the others are started to get bored.
The battle in the sea seems to be the fiercest. Crabbe and the others keep fighting so much that there are always big waves on the shore. But we made sure that the waves won’t reach Angela at all. She can continue cultivating in peace.
There are too many monsters in the sea that it’s no surprise that many of them managed to pass Crabbe and the others. But most of them don’t even breathe air. So we can just leave them to die
For those who can walk on land, the werewolves and the others happily challenged them.
"So... what are you doing here?"
Beside me, there’s a bored cheetah lying on the ground. He looks like an ordinary cheetah. But he’s Pawzer. In his small cheetah form.
"I’m bored."
"You know that you don’t have to be here, right?" I said.
"But if the Big Whale is here, I want to greet him," he said.
"It’s not like he will come here. Even if he feels the mana here, maybe he’s not interested," I said.
"Impossible. Do you remember what happened last month? If you didn’t wake us up, even I or the Big Lizard would attack her. That’s how strong it feels."
Then that was close. Good thing I managed to wake everyone up.
"Hmm? I smell dragons," Pawzer said.
"From the village or new dragons?" I asked.
"New dragons. They’re coming here. Well, it’s not important. We also have dragons here," he said.
"If we’re lucky, we can recruit them and get them to join the village. I’ll tell Cooldra about it," I said.
Then I look for the Ice Dragon and when I found him, I run to his location and told them that dragons are coming.
"I expected as much. I’ll try to talk with them but if I can’t convince them, then I will fight them. I don’t want to kill them if possible," Cooldra said.
"Then make them fear you to the point that they have no choice but to escape. Well, there’s also Andro here. So they might even retreat without fighting," I said.
"So where are they coming from?" Cooldra asked.
"I don’t know. I can’t see them. But Pawzer smelt them. So they should be here soon. I’ll tell the others to leave the dragons to you guys," I said.
We have dragons. But they’re population is not as much as other species. If we can have more, then we will be even stronger in the air.
Though what we lacked the most is our force in the water. We only have Spot and his children, few water mages, and the Crab People.
This is also why I’m looking for the Kaiser Whale. If he can help us, then we will get stronger in the water.
...Should I act more like a King? After all, I’m the King of the monsters. Some monsters though.
Maybe I should start by increasing my territory. I think the village won’t be enough to hold more monsters from coming in.
The last ones to join us were the pandas. But they’re more like pets than residents we installed fences around where they will stay because if we don’t, they will leave.
I’ll think about it later. For now, I need to protect Angela.
I stayed by her side while the elves nearby are keeping watch on the surrounding. Their ears are better than mine. They can hear things from afar.
"There’s something coming," said one of the elves nearby.
I looked at where she pointed and see a dragon descending from the sky. He’s about as big as Cooldra. Maybe he’s similar with him.
He’s trying to attack Angela. But the elves shoot their arrows at the dragon. Making the dragon unable to fly and injured all over his body.
Nice. Those Aura infused arrows are working just fine. The ones they used were the ones I infused with mana last month. But they’re still stronger than ordinary arrows.
The dragon was angry. But soon after, Cooldra descended and landed in front of him.
"Sorry. This one got away. I’ll take him away for a chat," Cooldra said.
"If he wants to join, tell the angels to heal him. It will be useless if he joins but can’t fly with holes on his wings," I said.
Seems like Cooldra hasn’t given up on recruiting him. He uses his claw to grab on the dragon and flew away with it. I hope Cooldra will return with good news.
Today, we have dragons visited. Tomorrow, we might get stronger monsters. We have to continue being careful.
