Chapter 1060: Looking for the Next Familiar for Maya

After that day, I brought Maya to other countries and trained her in air element magic. Teaching her various types of gases.

And finally, the day has come. Georgia finally defeated enough monsters for her master to reach intermediate level in her summoning element. And Maya called me that night.

"Master. I’m finally an intermediate level summoner now," Maya said as she called me in the middle of the night.

"Seriously? Just how many monsters did Georgia defeat every day? That’s good though. So next would be to find your second familiar. Do you have any monster in mind? By this point, Georgia can continue fighting monsters so your level will increase. And your next familiar can stay in the Monsters Village so that place can be used for your transport point in case of emergency. It doesn’t have to be a strong monster," I said.

"I... haven’t really thought about it. It was too shocking that I reached intermediate level in both my element in just one week when I have never trained them at all. Do you have any suggestion?" Maya asked.

"No. It will be your familiar. For the first one, I already made the suggestion to get Georgia to be your familiar. The next one should be your decision. If you don’t have any, you can ask someone if they have any idea of what monster is good for you," I said.

"Then I will ask my parents and Fabio about what will be good for me. For the next training, can we start a bit later then?" Maya asked.

"Sure."

And so I went back to sleep.

When I woke up, there’s still no call from Maya. So I called her and asked her if she has made any decision.

"Umm... no. My parents just told me to do what I want. And Fabio’s suggestions are not what I have in mind," Maya said.

"Then what monsters you want? A strong one? A support? Or just a cute one because well, it’s cute," I said.

"...Cute one," Maya said.

I guess she’s a girl in the end.

I also saw a lot of stuffed toys in her room. So it’s kind of obvious what she likes.

She also said that her hobby is to create stuffed animals. Her parents didn’t like it that a Duke’s daughter had a commoner hobby. But they gave up because after that time that she was almost got kidnapped, she felt so down. And sewing was something that helped her.

Then maybe a monster that can help with sewing. A spider? Is there any cute spider?

Well, cuteness is subjective. I guess I’ll just take her on a stroll into a forest in the Monsters World.

"How about we just explore the Monsters World and see if you can find any monster you like? We can come and go whenever we want because of portals. So we don’t have to stay overnight there," I suggested.

"I think that’s a good idea," she said.

"I’ll ask if there’s any girl who wants to come. And since it’s in Monsters World, you can also get Georgia to help you then," I said.

Not just that. Since Maya has leveled up, Georgia might be able to reveal more wings without being in pain. If she could recover her memories a bit for a little chat, maybe we can learn something about where she was taken to for the experiment she went through in the past.

I look around the house to see if there’s anyone with some free time today. Seems like both Candy and Wendy are here. And Shirley is also here to play.

Since she’s a master level wind mage, she can fly very fast. She came here from the capital and it only took her less than an hour to come.

Though both Candy and Wendy are not someone she can play with since they’re still thinking that they’re subordinates of the royalty. Though they don’t feel that way at all to me who is Shirley’s half-brother.

Veronica is also home. But she’s an introvert. I don’t think she will go if I ask her.

"Hey, I’m going to the Monsters World soon to look for Maya’s next familiar. Anyone’s coming?" I asked.

"I’ll go! I have nothing to do anyway," Shirley said.

"You should have something to do. You’re a Princess. Do you really not have anything to do?"

"Not at all. I have taken care of all my duties today and I’m taking a break from it. Some people tried to rope me into an arranged marriage if I stay in the capital. That’s why I’m here," she said.

"You have no intention of marrying someone?" I asked.

"Not at the moment. Why? You want your sister to find a husband?"

"It’s up to you. Just asking. Then, we will go together with Maya. Also, you will only be there to accompany her. You’re not allowed to kill any monster by yourself. Because it might be the monster that she wants. She said that she wants a cute familiar," I said.

"A cute one? I guess she has no intention at all to fight. That’s fine. I’m just there to be with her, right? I’ll do it."

And so, we go to Arturo where Maya is talking with Fabio in his office. I guess she’s with him to discuss about her next familiar.

Then I opened another portal to the Monsters Village. I also summoned Graham while Maya summoned Georgia to our side.

"Isn’t that too fast?" I asked Graham.

"I purposely went through some place with a lot of strong monsters. The werewolves and weretigers use that place to train and hunt. And no matter how much we kill, the population of monsters there doesn’t seem to decrease at all," Graham said.

"Alright. Then, before we leave, I need to see Georgia’s condition now. Maya, can you tell her to reveal eight wings?" I asked Maya.

She then told Georgia to reveal eight wings. And Georgia did it.

There seem to be a slight pain in her head after she revealed her wings. But she recovered soon after. Though there’s no sign of her memory recovered.

"At least we know that increasing Maya’s summoning level helps Georgia to reveal her strength even more. If I’m right, then by the time Maya reached expert level, Georgia can reveal all her twelve wings and her mind will be healed. It will take some time until Maya can reach that level. We can only be patient," I said.

After the first time Georgia revealed her eight wings, Maya told her to return back to normal before telling her to reveal eight wings again. This time, there’s no sign of pain in Maya’s head.

Then I asked if Georgia can reveal ten of her wings. She did. But the pain seems to return. I guess ten wings is too much for her right now.

"...ham"

No, she’s not saying that she wants to eat some ham. She’s trying to call Graham’s name. But only the last part of his name came out of her mouth.

Seems like by the time ten wings can be revealed, she will be able to talk only for a bit. We’ll see about that in the future.

"Georgia, sorry. But for the next monster, I want something cute. So you have to fight monsters on your own. At least until I reached advanced level. Though if my next familiar is not only cute but can fight well, that would be very helpful," Maya apologized to Georgia.

There’s no point in finding a monster if Maya herself doesn’t want to get stronger. That’s why it’s best for her to get a monster she wants for this time instead of forcing another monster for her.

We don’t have any destination to go to. So I just opened a portal to where we fought last time. The other mountain that is not the back of the Kaiser Tortoise. I opened a portal to the base of that mountain.

"Then we will start looking for monsters from here. Don’t kill anything until Maya can see them first. And only Georgia is allowed to kill them if none of them are something that Maya wants," I said.

Victoria then reminds me where the scouts should be going. And we walked to a different area where they should be. So this is another undiscovered area.

I use Divine Vision to observe the surrounding area. I see a lot of monsters but I can’t find anything cute. So I didn’t tell Maya.

"Maya, what kind of monster do you think is considered cute?" Shirley asked.

"Something small, pretty, and huggable!"

I guess her taste is pretty normal. But I didn’t find anything like that here.

"We can take our time. Maya, your schedule from now is for you to do your daily exercise and shooting practice in the morning, looking for your next familiar until evening, and before you sleep, you should cultivate your air element. You can take it easy with your training. You don’t have to stick with it every day. Just remember that if you want to get even the slightest bit stronger."
