Chapter 1040: The Tortoise’s Condition

"So, there’s a huge battle inside your shell. Don’t you feel any pain at all?" I asked the Kaiser Tortoise.

"It’s not at the level that I can’t handle. But it annoys me so much. Even more since the inside of my body feels itchy and it’s impossible to scratch it," the Kaiser Tortoise said.

"Oh, I know that feeling very well. When I first met Roy, the first thing I asked him was to scratch my back. After that, I became so free from the itchiness," Andro said.

"Maybe I should ask him to do that for me as well. Though it’s not scratching my back. It’s scratching the inside of my body. But I don’t think I will need it. I will die soon anyway," the Kaiser Tortoise said.

So he knows that he’s going to die. That’s also what I thought as well.

When I was inside the tortoise before, I could see things inside his body. Including some strange objects mixed with his blood.

His blood veins are thick. But those strange objects were so small that it could even mix in human’s body. Whatever that is, it’s poisoning the Kaiser Tortoise’s whole body.

Taking them out of his blood? That will take months or maybe years even if I do it alone. And I’m the only one who can do it since I’m the only one with a vision to see those objects.

"Well, I’m not a vet, but I’m still a doctor. With your size, I think you can handle being alive for a few more days if you just rest and not doing anything," I said.

"A few days? That’s longer than I thought. Maybe after you’re done with your fight inside my body, I can get a few days with my children," the Kaiser Tortoise said.

"What’s killing him?"

Then, a large cheetah appeared in front of us and turned into a werecheetah. Pawzer just returned from the village.

"What about the tortoises?" I asked.

"I told the others there to take care of them. Just in case, I put them near the dragons. So the future Kaiser Tortoise and future Kaiser Dragon can get along. So, what’s killing the Tortoise?" Pawzer asked me again.

If those monsters are real friends, then it would be helpful. But their growth might take centuries. I think the war will be over by then. Either with my loss or my victory against the cult.

All that’s left is the Kaiser Whale. But even if the Kaiser Whale won’t join the village, that’s fine as long as he’s not an enemy.

"Poisons are mixing into his blood from the modification. It’s coming from the material used. There are some metals and liquid waste. I think the cult are prolonging the Tortoise’s life by working his heart. I need to see his heart. But even if I find the cause, I doubt that I can do anything about it," I said.

Heart disease is one of the hardest illnesses to cure. In fact, the only way I know how to cure it is through a heart transplant. Doing that is better than trying to cure the heart.

But for Kaiser Tortoise, I doubt that there will be any other monster with a heart similar in size to him. So it’s impossible to heal him.

"Roy, what if you block those strange objects with my while allowing the blood to continue streaming in his body. Making very small hole for the blood to continue moving while stopping other objects so we can filter them out," Victoria suggested.

Then everyone here, including the Kaiser Tortoise, looked at me in expectation. But that’s something I can’t achieve.

"There are several reasons why that is impossible. Some objects were smaller than the cell in his blood. If we end up blocking the cell too much, he will die. Then he is too big. His days are numbered. Even if I looked inside his body and do that to filter out the strange objects individually, it will take several months at the fastest. And the cult probably has modified his heart. Even if we cleaned his blood completely, I doubt his heart is still strong enough to last for much longer with all the modification. That’s why he needs the cult’s help to last longer. If they didn’t do anything to him, he would have been dead a long time ago," I said.

"Then we need to check his heart first, right? I’ll take you there," Pawzer said.

He then grabbed me and transformed into a cheetah again. Putting me on his back. And I have no choice but to hang on with my life on the line.

"This should be where his heart is, right? Go check it out," Pawzer said.

Before I knew it, we’re already inside the shell of the Kaiser Tortoise. And there are battles here and there. But we ignored them.

Because I was about to vomit. That was fast and unexpected. But I’m glad that I have slowly gotten used to it.

"There is a hidden door leading to his heart. We can see his heart directly from there. There are five people inside though," I said.

"Let’s kill them all then," Pawzer said.

"Not yet. They might be the reason why the Kaiser Tortoise is still alive. But my guess is correct. His heart has been modified. Let’s return back to the others," I said.

"Alright. Get on my back—"

"WITH PORTAL! Please, let me open up a portal there! Victoria is there and it will be faster that way!" I begged.

Before hearing his answer, I opened a portal and jumped into it. Then I told everyone, that I was right.

"If they die, how much time do I have left?" the Kaiser Tortoise asked.

"Probably a few hours," I said.

"Well, at least I have said farewell to my children. It’s all thanks to you all. I don’t have any more regret. Just let me die," the Kaiser Tortoise said.

"Then I’ll return to battle. It won’t be long until it’s over," I said.

I prepared to go to where Shelia is. She should be where the battle is most intense.

"No need. I’ll take care of them all myself. There’s no one I’m afraid of anymore. And I need to vent my anger to the people who killed my friend," Pawzer said before he disappeared.

...I guess I don’t need to fight anymore. Because just Pawzer alone is enough to defeat everyone in no time.

He’s not weak. He’s just a coward. Afraid of someone who is stronger than him.

He’s fine with me who ended up stronger than him. But for the other guy, he’s already afraid of him.

Probably because he can sense hostility. For me, he didn’t feel it at all. Because instead of being hostile to him, I feel respectful toward the cheetah who trained us to get stronger.

He was just unlucky to came here and felt the hostility of the man who could follow his movement. That’s why he didn’t help.

But now that he’s gone, Pawzer is free to go wild.

"Oh, by the way, I didn’t kill your master. He said that he’s the most important person in here so he might have some important information for us. But don’t worry. He won’t be able to use magic anymore. He can’t order you around anymore," I said to the Kaiser Tortoise.

"He’s still alive? I guess that’s fine if he can’t order me around. Even if he manages to get out of there and use magic, I doubt I will be alive by then," the Kaiser Tortoise said.

"He won’t get out. He will either live the rest of his live in a cage and being tortured, or be killed after his usefulness is gone," I said.

"That’s great. I can rest easy. Oh, Dragon. You’re leaving?" the Kaiser Tortoise asked Andro who is preparing to leave.

"I’m going to the ocean and see if I can find the Whale from above. But I won’t look for him right away. Roy, I want you to find a tamer I can trust. Just in case, I don’t want someone to come and attempt to tame me," Andro said.

"Is that what you want? I thought you don’t want to be tamed or contracted with anyone," I asked.

"At first, that was correct. But now, I think being tamed could save my life so I won’t end up like the Tortoise. Just find one I can trust and tell him to never give me any order. And if I find something, I can talk to my master via telepathy," Andro suggested.

"Alright. How do I find someone you can trust?" I asked.

"You will pick it for me. I trust you. Then, farewell. Tortoise, it was great knowing you," Andro said.

"It’s also thanks to you that I could find someone to raise my children. Goodbye, Dragon. Thanks for everything," the Kaiser Tortoise said.

Andro then fly away. And Pawzer finally returned after he cleared up everything in the other mountain as well.

I guess I should bring everyone here first to get to know the Kaiser Tortoise first and what happened since the battle ended faster than we expected. Pawzer’s participation is out of our expectation.
