Chapter 1011: A Floating Island This Time
Chapter 1011: A Floating Island This Time
We found one secret base where the cult send and receive signal. Not only were there some device to receive signal from the battlefield, there’s also another device to receive signal from somewhere else.
It might be as we expected. There are many secret bases where they send and receive signal from.
When were they made? Kayla checked the surrounding area first before I returned her to Tatrama with the devices to receive the signal. If we’re lucky, then the device will be somehow connected when the cult is relaying information.
The devices were poorly made. They can only connect two devices together. The sender and the receiver. So they must make a lot of them. This means that it’s impossible for them to have them ready all over the continent. Unless they have a lot of resources to make them.
After returning Kayla, I returned to the secret base. Not to the inside of the base. We have completely checked it and took what we thought to be important from there. As for the people, they’re all dead already.
I returned to above the ground. Then I took out a map and drew another circle.
"This is the inside of the sphere that we will investigate this time. Victoria, can you tell me which way should we go to?" I asked Victoria.
Victoria then pointed at where the closest battlefield was and where we are right now.
"This is where the battlefield is. And this is where we are. If I’m right, then the next base we will raid should be located away from the battlefield. Let’s go check this half part of the sphere. If we don’t find any, then start searching closer to the other half," Victoria suggested.
Where will it be next time? In the sky?
"Spot, let’s go. Like before, turn invisible and fly close to the ground," I said to Spot.
While we’re searching for the next base, Shelia contacted me. She told me that she and the other monsters took care of the enemies in the camp and she asked me to bring her to the next location. Victoria heard that and told her to stay there instead.
"It’s possible that the previous base is not the only base where the cult stationed their spies. So if you wait there and the enemy reinforcement arrives, it means that there are other bases close to the battlefield again. Stay there just to prove my theory. If I’m right, they should be bringing their stronger mages instead of just expert level mages. After all, most of the master level mages have been killed, right? And I’m sure that you want to fight stronger enemies instead of the weaker ones," Victoria said.
"I’ll stay here then."
And Shelia willingly waited for the enemies there. Though if Victoria is wrong, then she waited there for nothing. But that can be proof that there’s no other base nearby.
"Victoria, don’t you think that it could be faster for us to find their base if we move close to the other battlefield?" I asked.
"That’s possible. But then we might never get closer to their main base since we will only get to the outer base instead," Victoria said.
I often forgot how smart she really is. Because she mostly enjoyed her hobbies and play around.
For knowledge, I think she might have a lot more than what Kayla or anyone else knew. It’s because she learned not only the things from this world, but also from her original world. And I heard that she received compulsory education from childhood in her world for a few years. Then she learned even more from fictional stories from her world.
Thanks to that, she has knowledge, imagination, and creativity. She might even be the smartest one in the alliance.
Though for strategy, she’s not that well-versed for some reason. It’s because she lived in peaceful place in her original world. But she learned a bit from what she called video games. I don’t know what that is but it helped her to be smarter at least.
After roaming around for a while, I finally found a base. And it was really on the opposite direction of the battlefield. And also not closer to the other battlefield.
"This time, it’s the sky, huh? We won’t be able to avoid being seen," I said.
I can see them, but it should be far from their detection ability. If we get closer, even with Spot’s invisibility, they will find out our location right away.
"Victoria, what is a good plan to use here?" I asked.
"It’s on a floating island? Is it indoor or outdoor?" Victoria asked.
"It’s on the floating island and there’s only a huge tent covering them from the rain. Another five people there," I said.
"As long as we have the general direction, we can ask Spot to shoot his breath attack there and destroy everything. But there could be something important for the cult in that base. So we have to think of other way," Victoria said.
Another way. Then I think I know what to do.
"What if we use Spot’s breath magic to just destroy the island. Letting them free fall from the sky. That should be good enough, right?" I asked.
"I see. That’s a good plan. And right before Spot attacked, how about you use your confusion gas to make them confused. That way, they won’t be able to react quickly to send signal somewhere," Victoria said.
And that’s what we decided to do.
Luckily, the floating island didn’t move. It stays there without moving. So I told Spot to target at the core of that floating island.
We have several floating islands. And I have tested on how to destroy them. The easiest way is to destroy the core part of the floating island.
The core is not any different than ordinary soil. But when the core is damaged, the island started to fall. It can no longer float.
After telling Spot to concentrate his magic breath to the core of the island, I have one final check. Not on the floating island. But on what’s underneath the island.
It’s just a forest. There are some monsters, but no human being. I guess it’s fine for part of the forest to be destroyed by the falling island.
We’re at the same altitude as the floating island. To make it easier for Spot to hit the core while I shoot a confusion gas at the people there.
The bullet I will use is a huge one. One that I can’t cover with my hand. And I compressed a lot of confusion gas inside.
As for the rifle, it’s even bigger so that I can compress even more air inside.
"Spot, use your magic half second after I shoot my gun. Victoria will tell you when to shoot," I said.
"Half second? Isn’t that too soon?" Victoria asked.
"I believe it could be too late. My bullet flies faster than Spot’s breath attack. Even if he shoot half a second after I shoot first, my bullet will reach there more than one second before Spot’s attack. Half a second is good enough," I said.
I aimed at the people there. Right at the middle of them.
It’s a small floating island. So the gas inside can spread to everyone easily as long as they don’t use wind magic.
Then I shoot the huge bullet. And half a second after that, Spot also shoot his breath attack.
I checked my bullet. When it get close to the people who have noticed the incoming bullet not knowing what it was, I made the Blobbies open up. The gas inside then spread to them as they inhaled them unknowingly.
I was sure that none of them said anything about the incoming bullet. That’s good.
Spot’s breath attack then reached the floating island. Barely scratched the core of the island. But that’s enough as gravity started affecting the island and everything there started falling.
"Spot, hinder their movement if they can fly!" I said as I opened a portal. It’s to where I shot the previous Blobbybullet.
It’s close to the island, so it’s faster if I use portal rather than flying with Spot. Then I grabbed everything that could be useful including the devices for receiving signal and sending signal.
When the people started to become aware of the surrounding, Spot already arrived and smashed his huge body at them. Knocking them out. Except for one person. A master level wind mage who decided to retreat.
But Spot chased after him and killed him. And that’s the second base down.
As for the other four people, let’s just capture them and see if they have any information for us.
The place I transported them to was Albert’s palace. To Kayla’s location who was there. She’s already prepared to receive the guests and gifted them some collars to put on. Forcefully.
"I guess that will be our plan for the next base located on a floating island. As for underground, we will call Kayla. And in case for underwater, we can only rely on ourselves. Well, Spot is a sea serpent. I guess it won’t be hard to do," I said.
"I hope it will go smoothly like this all the way until we reach their main base. Though I think their main base will be heavily protected. But it will be fine as long as there’s no one who has reached the stage beyond master level as our enemy," Victoria said.
She’s right. I hope there’s not many of them. Just the Evil God and that one who seem to be interested in Sonia before. I hope it’s just those two.
In fact, I hope they are somehow already dead. That would be the best.
