Chapter 1003: I Got Captured
The suspicious teacher took me for a walk to outside of the city. There’s something that he’s going to show me. At least that’s what he said.
"I hope you don’t mind if we pass through the forest," he said.
"I don’t mind as long as you can protect me. I’m not that strong after all," I replied.
Obviously, I lied. But I want to see how strong he is.
We encountered several monsters on the way. And all of them were defeated by him with his advanced level wind magic.
Seems like he’s a wind mage. But I don’t think that he has reached master level in that element. This means that other than the element he has trained for, he can also fly.
"Since you use advanced level wind magic, can you just help me fly to where we’re going? I think it will be faster," I said.
"Don’t worry. We will be there soon," he said.
Yeah, I can see that. After passing this forest, there’s a land without any grass or tree. And under there, I can see that there’s a man-made prison. Made of the earth and metal.
I guess this Sus-teacher is a master level earth mage who can also manipulate metal. And also, there are some people down there in the underground prison.
He must be thinking of putting me inside the prison. That’s why he brought me here.
"Professor Roy, do you know Angela?"
When we reached the destination, right above the prison, he suddenly stopped and asked me whether I knew Angela or not. And I can somehow figure out his plan. But I will pretend that I fall for his trap anyway.
"You mean the one who won the international tournament? Of course I know her," I said.
"Yeah, she won that tournament. But I mean to ask if you know her personally. I heard that there’s a professor in air element who knew her personally. So I wonder if it’s you the man they’re talking about," he asked.
He knew that much already? Well, it’s not really surprising. After all, as long as someone attended the same school as I did was asked about me, they would have said that I was close with Kayla and Angela.
The cult must have done their investigation. And they must be trying to infiltrate Cassau to find more about me, Angela, Kayla, or the others. But because I rarely teach class anymore, even if they infiltrate the campus, they failed to find me. Though if only they infiltrate the medical school instead, they would have found me since I’m there more than at magic college.
I guess they still don’t know that I’m the doctor who discovered many new cures and treatments to various illnesses.
"Yeah, I know her. Do you want her autograph or something? She didn’t give them to anyone though," I said.
"So you do know her. That’s all I need to know."
I pretend to be curious about what he said. And all of a sudden, the ground under me was split open. And I fell into the hole. Straight into the prison with several more starving people. Well, some of them were already dead though.
And I pretend to be scared. Because that’s what normal people who shouldn’t be able to fly do.
"AAAAAH!"
While I was falling down, I can see the other imprisoned people tried to escape from the opening. But the Sus-teacher quickly narrowed the opening so only his face can be seen.
"Professor Roy, nice to meet you. If you’re curious about me, I’m just someone from what you called as the Evil Cult. Thanks to your confirmation, I learned that you’re Angela’s lover. And I’m going to use you as a bait to lure her here and kill her. Try your best to survive. Because if you manage to live until she came to rescue you, then I can use you for negotiation," he said.
Did he just introduce himself as a member of the cult? Well, that’s that. Though there’s nothing I can do now. There are people here. People whom I don’t know whether they are with the cult or not.
After that, he left. I can still see him with my Divine Vision though.
I just stood there in the prison pretending to be angry. Looking at the ceiling that was already closed.
I looked around and see dead people, dying people, and starving people. And I pretended to be calm after that.
I grabbed something from inside my jacket. Some bread to give to them.
"Can you tell me how you guys ended up here?" I asked as I threw them several breads for them to eat. Those who were still alive jumped to the bread I threw.
Except for one guy. He instead stared at me as if he had just found his savior.
"You are Roy, right? I saw you once. Just soon after the news of the cult was spread and I was told to investigate this city," he said.
"You mean you’re one of Albert’s agents? And if it’s from that time, it should be a few years already. There’s no food here, so how did you still alive?" I asked.
"I’m a water mage. I can make water for us to drink. As for food, we can only scratch the ground and hope that we can find some worm to eat. There were some other agents captured here with me, but they’re already dead. They gave anything they should eat to the others here. And I had to survive because I’m the only water mage here. As for air, we had someone who used air magic. Unfortunately, he died a few days ago," he said.
Then he continued to explain. Seems like when they started investigating this city, they found many traces of the cult. And when they tried to fight the cult, they lost and were captured. Though reinforcement came soon after and the city should be safe because they won.
They’re just the agents who were unfortunate. The older agents didn’t eat anything and gave what they could find to the younger agents because they have the chance to survive until rescue came.
Unfortunately, no rescue team ever came. They were thought to be dead already. It’s just their luck that I came here.
The one who captured them is the same man who captured me. The Sus-teacher.
Back then, after capturing them, he left. Probably because any more suspicious move from him will alert the other agents who arrived to the city for more investigation.
Then that guy returned and pretended to be the Principal’s son who has reached master level.
"He had no one to talk to, so he often came here to talk while watching us suffer. Also, the man who he pretended to act was an older agent who has died here. He was really the son of the Principal. He was the only one who didn’t die from starving. But we killed him because he was about to leak important secret," he said as he pointed at one of the rotting corpse.
Rather than a corpse, it’s just a skeleton.
According to what we learned from the Principal, that man appeared last year and asked for a job as a teacher. Since he got all the information from the dead agent, he acted pretty well and the Principal believed him.
"So, all of you are agents then? Good job that you managed to survive for so long. And I’m sorry that no one ever look for you guys thinking that you’re already dead," I said.
Though it’s not my fault at all that we didn’t look for them. But since I’m the one who is here, I apologized.
"Don’t worry about it. From what he said when he’s bored and came here, it seems like we managed to successfully drive the cult away from the kingdom since he seemed so angry about it. Even after this long, our loyalty to the King never wavered," he said.
That’s great. Only if they spoke the truth though.
Now, what should I do? Well, I have some people who will help me with my next plan. I should ask them. But first, I have to make sure that these guys are not traitors.
From the look of it, none of them are master level mages. I guess it’s safe to bring them to Albert.
"All of you, if you wear this collar, I will take you out of here," I said as I threw several Magic Restricting Collar to the ground.
Right after that, they started to fight over the collars. Though I have a lot of them so they don’t have to fight.
I watched everyone and see that they have worn the collar already. Then I looked above ground and didn’t see the Sus-teacher anymore.
I guess it’s safe to bring them all to meet Albert then.
"Good. Stay here for a while and wait until I return," I said as I opened a portal and enter it.
None of them know about portal. They just see me disappearing.
I’m now in Albert’s office. And I told him about everything that has happened.
"...It hasn’t been long since you’re there and there’s already a problem? Bring them here after one hour. I also want to know if what they said is the truth or not," Albert said.
