The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 1387 404: Chaos' Apostle

Chapter 1387 404: Chaos' Apostle

"Miss Castellion?!"

The name exploded in Lassitina's mind like a thunderbolt. Hidden in the corridor's shadows, her complexion instantly drained of all color, even her breath halted.

Ophelia Castellion!

Why is she here? And together with that commoner Ilana?!

Could it be... they are friends?

This thought sent Lassitina into a freezing abyss.

Her two followers behind her were even more terrified, their legs going weak, nearly collapsing to the ground.

They didn't care about a commoner's fate, but offending a true Imperial Duke who held power could doom their family's entire future!

There isn't even a need for the Castellion Duke to speak a word; their Lord of Lords would offer their family as a political gift at a banquet.

In a flash, a mad thought occupied Lassitina's mind. Her face showed a trace of ferocity, jealousy, and fear intertwining into a vicious determination.

She suddenly pulled out the box wrapped in Rune Black Cloth from her Storage Bag, her fingernails almost digging into the wood as she used all her strength to yank open the lid!

Since death was inevitable—

Might as well gamble, make chaos abound!

As long as the chaos caused was such that even the Tower of Great Sage couldn't contain it, offending Miss Castellion wouldn't matter.

Of course, it would be even better if the unseeing Duchess died here!

There wasn't a earth-shattering noise, only a darkness that seemed to swallow all light, slithering silently like a snake from the box.

The black mist didn't spread at all, but instead, like a living entity, quietly slipped into the Maze's stone walls and floor.

Before Lassitina could recover from what was happening, the next moment, the entire maze groaned in pain like a giant beast with a bad stomach!

On the stone walls, countless blood-red patterns suddenly protruded like sinister blood vessels and throbbed like living pulses!

"By Saint Sis! What's happening?!" Hard's voice was distorted with fear as he spoke behind Ophelia.

All around, the walls seemed to morph into the pulsing flesh of living creatures, nauseatingly squirming!

Dark red ominous mist seeped out from every crack in the stones, carrying a rotten stench as it quickly filled the corridor.

The shattered ice crystals on the ground began to melt, then emitted a black death aura, merging into the eerie red mist.

They transformed into sustenance for the Maze, starting to incubate new Wailings!

Bain swallowed hard, his voice trembling.

"I don't know... I feel like... the walls... seem to be moving!"

"Run! Something's wrong here!" Unable to explain the situation to Ilana, Ophelia made a decisive move, grabbing her wrist, turning and bolting.

Bain and Hard quickly snapped back to reality, following behind the young lady; they dared not let her come to any harm in the Maze.

Otherwise, even if Prince Colin forgave them, the Castellion Duke would certainly tear them apart!

Meanwhile, Lassitina and her companions fell into the panic they themselves had caused, screaming as they tried to flee.

However, behind them, in that thick dark red mist, twisted figures emerged silently like monsters from a nightmare, completely cutting off their escape route!

They were human-shaped demons twisted to the extreme.

Their body structures were completely asymmetrical, limbs of uneven lengths stitched together. Their skin was a dead gray-black, resembling waterlogged wet clay.

They had no eyes, no noses, and the only feature on their faces was a mouth forever agape, yet uttering no sound.

Wailings!

Lassitina's face turned completely, filled with boundless terror.

She had only read about these monsters in a Forbidden Book, said to be servants of the Crown of Arvan!

Unlike "fanatic" and "Madman," heart demons born from humans in the Main World, these twisted monsters came entirely from the Outer Realm!

But—

Why did they appear here?

She couldn't understand why the Magic Device she bought for thirty gold coins was connected to Chaos!

"Ah—!"

Anjie let out a gut-wrenching scream, gripped by terror of the unknown which weakened her legs, the corrosion of the red mist tearing at her fading sanity.

She regretted it thoroughly.

She regretted ever currying favor with Lassitina by advising, and more regretfully spending efforts approaching Ilana to drag an innocent person down.

But now it was too late for anything.

Driven by survival instinct, a venomous gleam like that of a snake flashed in Lassitina's eyes as she turned her gaze onto a certain wailing liability.

This creature would only be a burden; better she keep the monsters at bay!

"...Anjie, help me one last time!" She whispered, almost as if speaking to air, while extending her trembling Magic Wand.

"L-Lassitina Miss?!"

Still panic-stricken, Anjie hadn't realized what was happening before she felt an enormous force viciously shoving her from behind!

Then, she stumbled uncontrollably forward, sprawled toward the silently advancing creatures!

Terrified, Anjie looked back, only to see three cold, resolute faces.

Her "good friends" showed no lingering attachment, didn't even glance back at her as they madly fled towards another direction.
