Chapter 1698 - 790: I Am the Sky (Part 2)
"Sewer?"
"Yes, if I’m not mistaken, the Divine Temple itself shouldn’t be compressed, because compression would cause the position to shift and consequently lose a fraction of the space’s own position. The Divine Temple is the dwelling of the Ancient God, and it must guarantee the highest position; it only needs to be placed at the top of the compressed space."
Rod didn’t quite understand, but he roughly grasped the doll’s words.
"Aphro, you really are reliable!"
The Book of Knowledge seemed a bit sour: "How do you know? Why don’t I know?"
The doll softly replied, "I recalled, I seem to have fought here, some of the traces outside are left by me."
Rod was startled: "You fought here?"
"Yes, Master, but I can’t remember the specific process, only that despair permeated the battle."
Rod regretfully said, "Your memories being erased is truly the biggest loss in the Dream Realm."
The doll calmly responded, "Master, erasing memories is to protect them, otherwise when the Dream Realm shatters, without protection, our souls would be emptied by the Black Fog, or even dissipate. What you would see again would be dolls with only basic combat functions and the Book of Knowledge with only the ability to answer questions, just like the Book of the Past, Book of the Future, and Book of the Present; they used to be like us in distant times."
Rod’s heart trembled: "You’re saying they also had souls?"
"Of course, I recently recalled some images of fighting alongside them, but after a certain Dream Realm shattered, their souls permanently dissipated and they never emerged again."
At that moment, Rod’s heart was filled with regret.
No wonder the Book of the Past, Book of the Present were so difficult to use; besides being damaged, the key reason was their souls were erased.
The Book of the Future was fortunate to have a soul born, gradually becoming useful.
"Master!"
Hearing such frightening things, the Book of the Future pitifully called out.
"I don’t want to dissipate!"
Rod said gravely, "Don’t worry, Weiguang Asa, as long as I’m alive, I won’t let anything harm you. Even if I die, I’ll use part of my power to protect you."
The Book of the Future immediately laughed, but Asa sneered: "Stupid fool with no foresight, how could Master fail?"
He took a bite suddenly, mouth filled with fragrance, and power surged within the soul.
"Ah, a Master who can provide such delicious ingredients is the strongest; he will surely defeat the Black Fog, kill the Supreme Will, and rule this world!"
Fortunately, Rod didn’t notice Asa, otherwise, he would have thrown up what he ate a year ago.
The doll continued: "Master, although part of our memories is lost forever, many important pieces remain in our souls. If we can retrieve our last fragments, it will be of great help to you."
Rod nodded: "I understand."
Vaguely, he felt he had forgotten something, but couldn’t recall for the moment. The mysteries in the Blood God Temple irresistibly attracted him, leading him to rush into the Divine Tower’s sewer.
Though he hadn’t been to Taranor Divine City’s sewer before, returning here brought an overwhelming sense of familiarity. Rod needed no special identification as he quickly moved toward the center of the sewer.
His intuition told him the Blood God’s Divine Temple was there.
Indeed, after a moment, Rod found a giant square structure, so enormous that it rivaled the Divine Tower on the ground.
All around, the sewer became extremely vast, with massive pipes at least two thousand yards thick. If he hadn’t known he was in the sewer, Rod might have thought he was at the top of a giant tower.
The square structure looked exquisitely crafted; its walls reinforced by powerful Spiritual Energy, with such high strength that Rod couldn’t be sure if he could penetrate them.
The building was completely enclosed with no entry.
Rod looked around but found no way in.
"Could there be some mechanism?"
As he was pondering, the doll suddenly said, "Above, Master, the Divine Temple’s spirit gathers above."
Rod immediately climbed to the top of the Divine Temple and indeed found a giant circular disc in the middle, with a groove clearly meant to place something.
"Black Blood Eye!"
The Book of Knowledge wasn’t to be outdone, shouting as its pages furiously rubbed, almost producing smoke, yet it clamped its binding tightly to appear unfazed.
"These types of keys are composed of the Ancient God’s soul weapon."
Rod immediately recalled that after the Blood God battle, he obtained the Blood God’s soul weapon, the Black Blood Eye, but this thing didn’t match him; he couldn’t manipulate it, nor did he know its purpose, so he had kept it in the Dream Realm’s storage.
"Book, you’re invaluable, and Aphro, you both are my wings."
Elated, Rod took out the Black Blood Eye and placed it into the groove of the disc.
Boom!
A muted thud echoed far in this vast space as strange glimmers emerged from beneath the disc, the space began to shake, ancient dust atop the sewer gently fell.
"It’s beginning!"
Rod looked expectantly at the disc, when he heard Horus’s urgent voice in his ear.
