Chapter 1697 - 790: I Am the Sky
Chapter 1697 - 790: I Am the Sky
The First Divine City is many times larger than Sagus City.
After all, it is the Divine City of the True God. Although it has been engulfed by the Black Fog for countless years, leaving only ruins, its former grandeur can still be seen amidst the ruins.
In the broken city gate, Rod saw a line written in Ancient Language:
[Taranor’s Unbreakable Alliance, Taranor’s Divine City Never Falls]
Kai sighed: "The unbreakable alliance has been destroyed, and the city that never falls has fallen."
Horus, however, noticed another point: "Is this an alliance, not a Divine Kingdom?"
Olivia replied: "Yes, in the ancient texts concerning the Ancient Epoch, the main subjects are mostly the divine cities... but that’s not the point. The structural system of the Ancient Epoch is something scholars like to study. I just hope to find enough Divine Source Material in this city and uncover secrets about the Black Fog and the ’Eerie’."
Horus nodded: "Let’s begin. This divine city is too large, so let’s split up and search. Although we have now stepped into or are close to the True King Domain, we must still be careful. Everyone should maintain smooth spiritual communication at all times. If there is danger, call for help immediately."
With that, he transformed into a white light and vanished into the sky.
Rod also stepped into the darkness.
The exploration process was smoother than expected. There were almost no intact buildings in the divine city. Intense battles had all but destroyed the city, and the traces of combat were everywhere. Rod scanned across quickly, with almost nothing obstructing his view.
In a few suspicious areas, a sweep of Spiritual Energy cleared everything.
However, under these circumstances, valuable heritage is hard to preserve.
It can be imagined how fierce the resistance the Black Fog encountered before the divine city fell.
What surprised Rod was that there were almost no monsters in the city. The few particles born from the Black Fog were shredded by [Dark Destruction] before they could approach.
This was extremely unusual.
Logically, the Taranor Divine City, after falling, should have never been illuminated again. The dense Source Black Fog that shrouded it would’ve, over thousands of years, inevitably given birth to countless powerful monsters. How could there be none?
In the Dream Realm, the Book of Knowledge sternly said: "Be careful, Master, there must be some danger hidden here."
The Book of the Future turned its pages: "I see gray shadows approaching, some ominous light flashing."
Even Asa, who was enjoying his meal, lifted his head: "Master, I smell conspiracy in the air. Be cautious of the traps of Ancient Evil Thought."
Rod’s heart tightened as he concentrated and heightened his vigilance.
After flying for a moment, a gigantic broken tower appeared in his sight. Its radius exceeded 20,000 yards, but the tower body had completely shattered, leaving only a base.
"The Divine Tower!"
Rod immediately recognized it.
"The Blood God’s Divine Tower!"
He quickly approached, soon discovering the terrifying combat traces around the giant tower. The land hardened by Spiritual Energy was torn apart, with fissures thousands of yards long crisscrossing, and giant pits larger than a town scattered everywhere.
Clearly, fierce battles took place here between the city’s Guardians and unknown monsters.
The ultimate result was the destruction of the Divine Tower and the fall of the divine city.
Rod stood before the giant tower, feeling the aura from the ancient times.
He didn’t know what supported these Guardians. Even with their deity fallen, they fought desperately, resisting with all their might.
Inside the tower was a scene of chaos.
The walls and slabs were crushed together with almost no space remaining.
The Book of Knowledge explained: "After the destruction of the Divine Tower, its expanded interior space reverted to its original state."
Rod’s heart sank. Under these circumstances, its interior had been devastatingly damaged, leaving little of value likely to remain.
Sure enough, in the subsequent search, although Rod tried hard to separate the compacted objects, because of the spatial changes, many objects were interlocked, almost entirely destroying their original appearance, and even forcibly separating them was pointless.
After long hours of work, nothing useful was found.
Rod could only ask the Book of the Future: "Asa, can you foresee where I might find useful clues?"
The Book of the Future slowly turned its pages: "Master, I see only chaos, no certain future. It seems some powerful entity is concealing fate, blocking foresight and prophecy."
Concealed?
Is it a powerful monster or Ancient Evil Thought?
Rod fell into contemplation when suddenly the puppet spoke.
"Master, fly into the air."
Rod exclaimed: "What’s wrong?"
With a swift movement, he flew several miles into the sky.
The puppet, utilizing Rod’s vision, gazed downward, and after a moment said: "Master, I know where to find the clue."
Rod was surprised and delighted: "You know? How do you know? Where is it?"
The puppet replied: "This Divine Tower was constructed using a reverse structure. Typically, the Ancient Gods of the Ancient Epoch resided in the Divine Temple at the top of the Divine Tower to elevate the space’s position as much as possible, allowing them to draw greater power from the Sea of Source. Compressing the tower’s internal space was for this purpose; otherwise, it wouldn’t need to be structured this way."
"In this tower, the primary structure is reversed, directing the compressed space’s position downward instead of upwards. Therefore, the Blood God’s Divine Temple should be located in the sewers of the Divine Tower."
