Chapter 17: You

Chapter 17: You

Kim:

“P’Kim…” The boy pushed him back with all his strength and jumped back as if he had been burned. “Don’t joke with me, na!”

“I’m not joking.” Kim told the boy seriously. “Ever since I met you in that soup house two weeks ago…it’s all I’ve ever wanted.”

Kit felt faint…like the ground was slipping from under his feet.

“You.”

The instant P’Kim had uttered those words; Kit had known that he was a goner. Hadn't he been fighting his own heart for the longest time? But now…hearing P’Kim say these words…it felt like a fantasy come to life.

But at the same time…it felt so, so wrong.

“This…isn’t wrong…right? This won’t hurt my sister…right?” He asked hesitantly, biting his lower lip as P’Kim came to stand in front of him once again.

“Mai.” And then Kim wrapped his arm around Kit’s waist once again, hauling him to his chest and crashed his lips onto Kit’s, preventing him from speaking further. He didn’t want any more interruptions, any more obstacles. He wanted Kit and he wanted him now!

Kit was too stunned at first to react. He kept his lips shut tight and his entire body went very still. But the more Kim urged him to kiss with his mouth, slowly licking his tongue across his bottom lips, urging Kit to open his mouth for him, to participate in the kiss, the more he felt the boy relax into his arms, leaning more of his weight against him as Kit parted his lips the slightest so Kim could kiss him deeply…feel the effect all over his body.

But when Kim went to run his lips over Kit’s bottom lip once again, he felt the boy shut his lips once again, effectively cutting off the kiss.

A little taken aback, Kim calmed down the raw edge of desire running in his mind to look down at the boy who was a good few inches shorter than him.

Kit had his eyes closed tightly and his lips were pressed together in a tight line. His body that had started to feel relaxed a few moments ago had once again gone rigid in his arms.

“What’s wrong?” Kim asked, his mind still a haze of desire…however, he knew that Kit was uncomfortable. Understood that the boy wasn’t participating and doing anything to him now was like forcing his will on the boy and that would be without his consent.

Kim had always had willing partners in the past. They had come to him willingly and of their own accord. He had never had to try to get anyone’s attention, especially in bed. And Kit? Hadn't they already slept together?

“I…” Kit bit his bottom lip once again, making Kim narrow his eyes at that little gesture that appeared seductive to him. Was this boy giving him mixed signals? Or had he read him wrong from the start?

“You?” Kim urged. “Tell me I’m not wrong in this, Kit? Because I thought you wanted this as well.”

“P’Kim…I…” Kit swallowed hard, trying his best to try and explain what was on his mind…in his heart, but unable to put them into words.

“Whatever you want to say, just say it.” Kim hadn't intended to, but his voice came out a little harsh. “Do you have someone else in your life?”

“What? No!” Kit shook his head immediately. “If I had anyone else, I would have never cheated!”

“Then?” Kim was once again face to face with Kit, making it hard for him to think clearly.

Had he always been this intrusive with my personal space?Kit thought to himself. But he didn’t have to think hard for the answer, because it had always been obvious…just that Kit had been focused on other serious matters to notice…like how he didn’t want his Phi to find out that he had slept with her best friend.

“I’m…I’m not comfortable with this kind of relationship, P’Kim.” Kit swallowed, looking at the ground. “I don’t want something that’s based completely on physical connections.”

“I admit; spending the night with you was one of the best.” Kim told him truthfully, because he didn’t want to keep things from Kit. If the boy was being honest, he should be doing it too. “That’s why I want to continue this. But if you want something more? I don’t know if I can give that to you. I’m not a person who falls in love easily and I don’t do relationships, Kit. You should know this if you’re expecting more. It’ll be putting everyone in danger.”

“But you came to save me, didn’t you?” Kit looked up at Kim with hopeful eyes, wishing that he hadn't been deluding himself into believing that P’Kim could have felt something for him more than just responsibility as his best friend’s younger brother. “You came to the apartment that night! You came to take me back…you shot those people!”

“Because you’re Kaya’s Nong.” Kim told him firmly. “And I would’ve done it regardless of who you were. If I see an innocent person in trouble, I will help them if they are in the crossfire’s with my business. That’s just who I am.”

“So…this is what you always wanted?” Kit couldn’t believe he was having this discussion with P’Kim, but he knew it was one that was very much needed. “Just a no—strings attached situation where we sleep with each other? How can you do that with someone who you don’t even love? You barely even know me!”

Kim narrowed his eyes at the boy, studying him from head to toe. In the span of a few minutes…he had changed his perspective of him. And just like that…Kim was finding it increasingly difficult to understand how he had misjudged a boy of twenty one. Weren’t boys his age only interested in how many notches they had on their bedpost?

“Love has nothing to do with sex.” Kim told him finally. “As for knowing…I didn’t even know you were Kaya’s brother when we first sle-”

“Can you please stop bringing up that night?” Kit raised his voice unintentionally, before realizing and covering his mouth with his hands. “P’Kim…I…”

“Fine.” Kim told him in a hard tone. “Then let’s forget about it. Let’s forget I ever gave you that proposal. As for the condo, I’ll send over the deed as soon as it’s ready. You don’t have to repay me. Think of it as a gift to Kaya’s Nong. You got hurt while under my protection, so it’s my repayment to you.”

With that, Kim left the condo immediately, leaving Kit to deal with everything that happened on his own.

Kim didn’t yet understand why he suddenly felt so disappointed as he entered his car and told the chauffer to drive to his office, but all he knew was that he hadn't expected this kind of an outcome.

And yet…even though he exited that room, hoping to never come back here again…something told him that he will be back. For some reason…Kit had gotten under his skin, and no matter what he did…he was unable to shake him.
