The Kingpin's Possession

Chapter 11: His Knight

Chapter 11: His Knight

Chapter 11: His Knight

Kit:

Kit stopped in front of the old apartment complex, looking up at the tall building with disdainful eyes.

Although he and his sister had grown up in this very place, there were more unpleasant memories of them here than good ones and somehow, Kit felt that their apartment might even be cursed. It wasn’t located at a very friendly neighborhood either and that prompted the debt collectors to think of his sister as a call girl more than once, hence they kept on giving her degrading offers every time they came to take back their money.

And why was it that their debt never seemed to lessen?

It had been years and with his mother having worked so hard to pay off so much of the debt; shouldn’t it be a lot less by now?

But that wasn’t what was concerning him at that moment. What was concerning him was how much more would he and his sister have to give in order to get an ounce of peace in this world?

P’Kim…the man he spent his first night with, the mysterious stranger who had helped him at a crucial moment in his life…turned out to be the man that was his sisters best friend, someone who she cared for deeply. And P’Kim care for her as well, otherwise, he wouldn’t be giving her such an offer.

But that made the situation all the more complicated, especially when he realized just how his heart would beat in his chest whenever he was close to P’Kim. His touch still lingered on Kit’s skin and when he was alone, he could still feel his hot breath against his neck, the brush of his skin against the older man’s.

Shaking his head, he made his way to the building and up the stairs. Maybe he would start to think clearly after a good night’s rest and when tomorrow came, he would go ba-

Kit stopped short a few feet away from the room he shared with his sister. “W-what…what are you doing?”

Two men stood outside the door that had been ripped open and now lay on the floor a few feet from them. There were sounds coming from inside the house as pots and pans and furniture were being overturned and even more commotion from the shouts of the people who raided his house.

Upon hearing his voice, the two men with burly figure and towering height snapped their attention towards him immediately and Kit had to take a hasty step back due to the bloodthirsty look in their eyes. But now that they had seen him, a wide smile spread on one of their faces as the older man with a greasy appearance looked him up and down in a way that made Kit’s stomach turn in knots.

“Hey! Come back here! The kids back!” Roared the other man from behind and soon enough, Kit found himself facing five burly men with their debt-collector leader in the center, who came rushing out the first as soon as he heard his men calling.

“You! Get him!” The leader, P’Num, ordered his men, pointing his finger at Kit and within seconds, Kits arms were snatched and held behind his back as two men came rushing forward to grab him.

“What are you doing? Let me go!” Kit struggled in a futile attempt to get free but he knew that he was no match for the men around him. They were all a lot stronger than he could ever be.

“I’ve been coming here every month for the money that your dead mother promised me ages ago!” P’Num told Kit in an angry voice. “But all I get in return are mere changes! I’ve had enough kid! Where is the money? Give it now! And if you don’t have it…we’ll just cut you open into tiny pieces and take out your organs so we can sell them to get back the money.”

The evil smile on the man’s face made Kit’s blood turn to ice in his veins.

These men were no longer joking around. They were dead serious and they had reached the point where they no longer cared if they had to kill him to get the money.

“Why?” Kit tried at a last desperate attempt to get free. “Why is there still millions of Baht left to pay? My mother…my sister…they’ve worked themselves to the ground to pay off the debt!”

P’Num gave the boy a smirk as he walked closer to him. Leaning down, he whispered into his ears what he had never told anyone else. “That’s because your father still borrows money from us…and leaves the repayment for his poor, stupid kids.”

Kit’s eyes widened in horror before pain flooded his mind as one of the men landed a punch to his stomach, knocking the breath right out of him.

Eyes watering in despair, Kit fell to the ground, groaning and clutching onto his stomach, but the men were nowhere near done with him.

Kicks landed on his body, the force of them making his bones rattle. Kit tried his best to curl up on himself, placing his hands on his head to protect his skull from damage, but the men kicked his spine instead, making him cry out in unimaginable pain.

He was really going to die…he was really going to die right here…

P’Kanya…I’m sorry…I shouldn’t have parted from you on such bad terms.

But just as one of the men drew back his leg, about to kick his spine and cause major damage to his body…a gunshot rang out loud and clear in the night, startling everyone as blood splattered on the wall.

“Wh-who…?” P’Num’s voice trembled as his man dropped to the ground lifeless, blood gushing out of the bullet wound on his forehead.

And that was when everyone turned towards the man in the black shirt and tailored pants that had appeared behind them with a gun in his hand pointed in their direction.

Kit opened his eyes into slits, his entire body in unimaginable pain. He was on the verge of losing consciousness, but even through his hazy vision, he was able to tell the man who had just saved his life…his knight, P’Kim.

“Get away from the boy.” Kim’s voice was harsh, his temper controlled by a fine thread of sanity ready to snap at any moment.

“We will let him go only when he pays back his debt!” P’Num seemed to have found his voice finally, but his bravery didn’t last for long when two more shots were fired simultaneously and the men next to Kit dropped to the ground unmoving.

“You know…I was willing to pay the debt for him.” Kim told the greasy looking man who was just a local thug pretending to be a big-shot. “But the deal was off the second you lay your hand on him.”

Kim proceeded to walk forward until he was standing toe to toe with the loan shark, looking down into his eyes with every intention of letting him know that he had messed with the wrong man.

“But now I’ll make you a new offer.” He smiled a cold, cold smile. “Leave the boy and his family alone…or die right now.”

P’Num or his men didn’t need to be told twice.

Leaving their dead comrades behind to drown in their own blood, the three men turned tail and ran in the opposite direction as fast as their legs could take them.

Kim didn’t waste any time either. He tucked in his gun at the back of his pants and rushed over to Kit, moving aside the dead man harshly who had fallen on top of his boy.

“Kit! Kit!” He shook the boy, but he was unresponsive. He must have lost consciousness while he got here.

It made Kim even more worried. The second he had heard shouts and Kit’s soft moans from the floor above him as he was making his way to the apartment, he had forgotten everything else, his mind only on the boy who had had all his attention since the first day he had laid eyes on him.

And when he had seen Kit on the floor…curled up in a ball and being kicked by men twice his size…Kim had seen red. He had pulled the trigger even before he had realized that he had drawn his gun.

Now, he picked up the boy in his arms as gently as possible. He grit his teeth when he heard his soft moan of pain…as he saw the darkening red bruises all over his body.

He wasn’t going to let this go.

Those goons may have escaped today…but he was going to find them…every single one of those people who had dared to laid their hands on his boy…and he was going to make them choke on their own blood.
