Chapter 262: Because I Was Blind

Tristan Sterling heard a noise and turned to see Rachel Royce emerging from the bathroom after a shower. She was wearing a set of champagne-colored pajama pants, her long hair was casually draped over her shoulders, and the bangs on her forehead were damp. Her beautiful eyes were clear and bright, and her fair cheeks were flushed with a rosy hue.

Rachel Royce walked toward Melissa’s vanity.

Tristan Sterling asked, "When did you get back?" Rachel said, "An hour ago." Tristan watched as she picked up a bottle of essential oil from the table and began her skincare routine, followed by cream... and a facial toning device to lift and refine her features.

She had intended to ignore him, but she couldn’t take it anymore. She put down what she was holding and looked at the man sitting on the edge of the bed, who had been staring at her with a direct, unflinching gaze.

Seeing her look over, he curved his lips into a smile and asked, "What’s wrong?" Rachel said, "Staring at me like that... are you into me?" Tristan’s thin lips curled slightly. He stood up, walked over to Rachel, and stood behind her. Bending down, he placed his hands on the vanity, completely enveloping her beneath him. He looked down at her and said, "Isn’t it normal to be into you?" A cool, thin smile touched Rachel’s lips. "Is that so? Men really are such superficial creatures." Tristan asked, "Then why don’t you tell me why you used to like me? Was it because you saw my inner beauty?"

Hearing this, Rachel’s expression darkened. She put down the facial toning device, stood up, and shot him a look. "Because I was blind!" She pushed his hands away, walked over to the sofa, and took a red-light therapy mask she had brought today out of a bag. After putting it on her face, she leaned back on the sofa and closed her eyes to rest.

Immediately after,

she distinctly felt the sofa beside her dip, and then the man’s low voice reached her ears. "Melissa really takes after you." Rachel kept her eyes closed, motionless and silent.

"She loves looking good, just like you—has to be dressed up perfectly before going out. But she’s not like you, willing to sacrifice her health for beauty in the middle of winter." Despite the cold weather, Rachel’s work attire was always fashion-forward.

She said coolly, "Stay out of women’s business." Tristan just smiled. "It’s not convenient for you to keep staying in Melissa’s room. If you don’t want to live with me, I’ll have another bedroom prepared." Rachel didn’t argue with him. "Do whatever you want." The room fell silent.

But the man beside her showed no intention of leaving.

「Half an hour later.」

Rachel removed the beauty mask from her face and glanced at the man beside her, who was holding his phone and scrolling through some documents.

Tristan looked up from his phone, turning his head. His dark, deep eyes fixed on her face as he said, "The results are pretty good. You actually do look a little fairer." Rachel put the mask away. "You seem to know a lot about this."

As she spoke, she turned, opened her bag, and took out an agreement, handing it to Tristan.

Tristan took it and began to read.

It was a marital agreement.

If Tristan had an affair with any woman or fathered an illegitimate child during their marriage, they would divorce, and custody of Melissa would go to her.

Every clause targeted Tristan’s personal conduct.

After finishing the agreement, Tristan looked at Rachel. "Since this is a mutual agreement, it can’t be all about me." "You’re surrounded by plenty of men yourself, so I’m not exactly reassured. We should at least add one more clause: you can’t have an affair with any man. If you do, we’ll have another child." Rachel’s face darkened. "Tristan Sterling, I don’t share your lack of morals." Tristan said, "Fine, we don’t have to add it. In that case, you can move back into the master bedroom with me. We’re a married couple, shouldn’t we at least share a bedroom?" Rachel glared at him.

"Relax, I won’t force you to do anything with me."

"And you think I’d believe you?"

"If I forced you, you’d definitely raise hell with me. Melissa has finally gotten her mom and dad here with her, and I don’t want our relationship to affect her happiness."
