The Husband I Loved for Eight Years Never Loved Me

Chapter 250: The Homewrecker

Chapter 250: The Homewrecker

Chapter 250: The Homewrecker Interfering in Someone Else’s Marriage

He wasn’t surprised that Tristan Sterling suspected him. However, by helping Claire Ainsworth, he had already managed to clear his own name.

"As expected of you, Tristan Sterling. Truly heartless. But Evelynn is indeed a better wife than Miss Ainsworth. It’s just a shame for a beauty like Miss Ainsworth; she must be in agony right now." "These petty, underhanded tricks are all you’re good for." Tristan Sterling turned and left.

Watching the man’s departing figure, Ivan Alden just gave a faint smile.

Tristan Sterling got into the car.

Rachel Royce watched him from inside the car. "Was yesterday’s incident related to Ivan Alden?" She had just overheard what Tristan Sterling said to him.

’Come to think of it, what happened yesterday...’

’Alexander Sullivan could help Claire Ainsworth win the Norvane merger, but to use the Norvane negotiations to frame me... even if Alexander was protecting Melissa, he wouldn’t do something like that.’

’Claire Ainsworth couldn’t have pulled it off alone.’

She had considered that it might be related to Mrs. Ainsworth.

’Mrs. Ainsworth would truly stop at nothing to see her daughter get ahead. After all, Mrs. Ainsworth had tried to ruin my reputation before, so it wasn’t impossible she would help her daughter again.’

’But now, seeing Ivan Alden...’

’His hatred for me is probably no less than Claire Ainsworth’s. By using Claire to destroy me, he could also steal Rowan’s internal data from me. A perfect case of killing two birds with one stone.’

’But if Tristan Sterling had been a step too late yesterday, they really would have succeeded.’

Tristan Sterling looked at her and said in a flippant tone, "You’ve really made quite a few enemies." Rachel Royce shot him a look, then turned to gaze out the window, saying no more.

The car slowly pulled away from the kindergarten.

"So, what have you decided?" Tristan Sterling asked.

Rachel Royce replied, "I’m not one to accept a windfall without looking into it first."

Tristan Sterling smiled. "Fair enough. Feel free to ask me any questions you have, but I’ll need a specific timeline from you."

There was a moment of silence.

Rachel Royce said, "We’ll talk in three days." "Fine."

Miles Sheldon brought her ID from her home to the phone carrier’s store. Rachel Royce got a replacement SIM card, bought a new phone, and then took a ride back to the office with Miles Sheldon.

When Joanna Sutton saw her, she asked worriedly, "Rachel, are you okay after yesterday?"

"I’m fine, don’t worry. I’m going to President Jennings’s office first."

Julian Jennings was already waiting for her in his office.

"You’re here."

Rachel Royce sat down across from him.

"Are you still feeling unwell anywhere?"

"I’m fine now. And thank you so much for yesterday, Professor." ’Tristan Sterling may have saved me, but the situation was no different from escaping a tiger’s den only to enter a wolf’s lair.’

’If Julian Jennings hadn’t arrived, I might have really ended up having relations with Tristan Sterling again.’

Julian Jennings poured her a cup of coffee and said with a helpless sigh, "Still so formal with me. If anything had happened to you, I wouldn’t have been able to eat or sleep."

Rachel Royce picked up the coffee cup, took a sip, and said, "The coffee you brew is still as delicious as ever, Professor."

Julian Jennings said, "I’m just glad you like it."

Rachel Royce smiled, pursing her lips. "Yesterday’s incident was a joint effort between Claire Ainsworth and Ivan Alden. Zion Alden must have put Ivan up to it."

After the huge loss Zion Alden suffered before, there was no way he would just let it go. He would definitely find a way to get back at them.

It’s just that Zion Alden couldn’t return to the country at the moment.

Julian Jennings said, "I know. But Ivan Alden is very cautious and didn’t leave any tracks. Fortunately, the data on your phone was destroyed in time. The only thing to do now is to cut off Ivan Alden’s connections here."

Rachel Royce knew that even if they did find evidence, Julian Jennings would have to consider Stella.

"In any case, don’t mention this to June Jennings. We can’t have her getting upset and affecting Stella."

If June Jennings found out, she would definitely start fighting with Ivan Alden again. When they were trying to get a divorce, Stella was the one who was hurt the most.

One time in particular, Stella saw them arguing and cried until she fainted.

The situation at the time had truly frightened her. In fact, June Jennings had thought about compromising for the sake of her child countless times.

A child is a mother’s greatest weakness.

"I know."

"Did Tristan Sterling mention the Norvane deal to you?"

Rachel Royce’s lips curled into a smile. "You were right, Professor. It does feel like a bit of a loss to refuse, though."

Julian Jennings said, "Rowan doesn’t need Tristan Sterling’s charity."

As for the TC project, Rachel Royce didn’t mention it to Julian Jennings for the time being. She needed to think it over on her own first.

"But as for Claire Ainsworth, we can’t just let it slide this time."

"Alexander Sullivan will definitely protect her."

’The project Tristan Sterling gave me... he says it isn’t for Claire Ainsworth’s sake, but it’s really just to get me to drop the matter.’

What Rachel Royce didn’t know was that Julian Jennings had already contacted the Ainsworth Family. If they wanted to continue their partnership, they would have to provide a satisfactory explanation.

Rachel Royce left Julian Jennings’s office.

Julian Jennings received a call from his mother. He answered it. "Mom, what’s wrong?"

Mrs. Jennings asked, "What exactly is going on between you and that Miss Evelynn?"

Julian Jennings’s brows knitted slightly. "Mom, why the sudden question?"

Mrs. Jennings said, "Her husband called our house! Your father is furious. And from the sounds of it, her husband has no intention of divorcing her."

The light in Julian Jennings’s eyes instantly dimmed. "Julian, tell Mom the truth. What is the real situation between you two right now?"

Julian Jennings said, "This is between me and Tristan Sterling. It has nothing to do with Evelynn."

Mrs. Jennings advised him earnestly, "Julian, Mom knows your character. I know you have principles and wouldn’t do something to destroy someone’s family. But you can’t stop others from trying to ruin your reputation. Miss Evelynn is indeed outstanding, but there are other women in this world who are just as wonderful. You should broaden your horizons and look around more. Mom doesn’t want you to be branded as a homewrecker who interfered in someone else’s marriage."

After their brief meeting last time, she had truly come to admire Evelynn. But unfortunately, the beautiful flower already had an owner; she was married and even had a child. And one look at her husband told you he was not someone to be trifled with.

She really didn’t want to see her own son fighting with another man over his wife.

Julian Jennings said, "Mom, I know what I’m doing. Evelynn and I are just friends and colleagues right now. We haven’t crossed any lines. Please, just calm Dad down and don’t fall into someone else’s trap."

Mrs. Jennings could only sigh helplessly. She said a few more words before hanging up.

He put down his phone.

Julian Jennings immediately dialed Tristan Sterling’s number.

The call connected quickly.

"President Jennings." Tristan Sterling sounded as if he had been expecting the call.

Julian Jennings retorted, "Does President Sterling think his actions are honorable and aboveboard?"

Tristan Sterling replied, "I was just offering a well-intentioned reminder. A man as outstanding as you, President Jennings, should be spirited and far-sighted, not fixated on another man’s wife. It’s truly beneath someone of your status."

Julian Jennings shot back, "From a man who is himself disloyal, unjust, unfeeling, and cold-blooded toward his own wife, such ’good intentions’ are hardly convincing."

Tristan Sterling let out a low chuckle. "I’ve said my piece. President Jennings, I suggest you watch your step."

With that,

he hung up the phone.
